I could not find an answer to this one, wherever I looked, so I created an account here to ask it. If I want to counter a spell, can I flash in Silumgar Sorcerer and immediately sacrifice himself to counter a spell?
Wow. This is definitely one of the most under-rated counterspells of all time.... You can have it be a creature or a counterspell when he enters. You can have him be a creature, bounce him with deputy of acquittals and use him as a counterspell again... And with Inalla, you can use his copy as a counterspell and still have the creature... Crazy.
He's generally overlooked because there are better counterspell-creatures with bodies available. Just off the top of my head, Glen Elendra Archmage (Negate is generally more important than Essence Scatter, since there are more single-card game-ending threats that are noncreatures than are creatures), Mystic Snake (no need to choose between having the body or not, hits any kind of spell), and Venser, Shaper Savant (can hit uncounterable spells, can be used as Boomerang, and when used with Inalla, can be reusable).
Firstly, Glen Elandra Archmage doesn't have flash. She is on the board, and that makes her targetable.
Secondly, Mystic Snake requires green and blue. That's a semi-rare combination in magic decks. Not nearly as widely applicable.
Thirdly, Venser cannot be used with Inalla because he is a legendary creature, which means there can't be two on the board at the same time. While he can temporarily delay a spell, he's not really what I'd call a counter.
And a card such as Daring Apprentice is FAR worse in my honest opinion. Not that you mentioned him. Still, strange that card is worth more on the sites I buy cards on.
Silumgar Sorc is at best a Cancel, which is already pretty bad. It's alright exclusively in Inalla where... it's literally a mystic snake.
Mystic Snake is not in "semi-rare" colors in EDH, U/G/x is fairly popular due to being one of the strongest color combination.
Glen Elendra is a double counter that needs to be answered twice to get rid of it... which also flies which can be relevant, so it's also very good.
False, he can be used with Inalla. The copy still ETBs even if you decide to get rid of it due to legendary rule, so it can bounce up to two things, itself included so you can keep reusing him.
Lastly, Daring Apprentice can be nifty in Inalla since you can play him first before trying to combo off or in order to protect something else. I would never run it, but it's not a horrible choice if you lack better counters. He's actually potentially better than the sorc since it can counter two things, albeit it's telegraphed.
I disagree with a lot of what you said. ...

Quite the opposite, he works great with Inalla. Cast Venser, pay 1 to copy, have the real Venser target the spell or permanent you want to bounce. The token copy enters, you let it die to the legend rule, but its ETB effect still goes on the stack, and you bounce the real Venser back to hand, ready to flash in again.
You can sacrifice Silumgar Sorcerer to his own exploit trigger to counter a creature spell.
