As the title says, I'm getting back into the game, but I'd like a little help/advice. The commander deck I'm wanting to make is a Green/Red deck, leaning more towards green. To start with, my core cards that I have that I'm wanting to kind of build around are: Radha, Heir to Keld; Stonebrow, Krosan Hero; Gorclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma; Vivien Ried; Zada, Hedron Grinder; Vigor; Patron of the Orochi. Additional cards I have that I'd like to integrate if possible are: Heros' Bane; Domesticated Hydra; Hungering Hydra; Artisan of Kozilek; Ulamog's Crusher.
The basis of the deck I'm wanting is to swing "big" creatures and manage to give them trample through other creatures(like Brawn or Khenra Charioteer(cards I have avaliable)), or through enchants. Some other enchants I have available are things like Gruul War Chant, Goblin War Drum, Stensia Masquerade, and an enchant creature Cyclops of Eternal Fury. Using Vigor, and a few other methods, I'm able to get +1/+1 counters onto my creatures and would like to maybe take advantage of that. What I need are more ways and ideas to ramp up to get those big creatures out, while also having a few ways to get some cards back from the graveyard. For ramping I have a handful of elves that I can tap for mana, along with a few land enchants that will give me additional green mana when tapped(Wild Growth, Overgrowth, Fertile Ground, Dawn's Reflection, Gift of Paradise). For returning cards from the graveyard I have cards like: Vengeful Rebirth; Nature's Spiral; Recollect; Revive. One strategy of the cards I have is possibly using Biorhythm plus Predatory Focus as a final killer move, in addition to taking advantage of the ability from Zada, Hendron Grinder and Vigor. I'm also not opposed to using more scorcery and instants to buff my creatures up, but would like to be able to get a decent amount of creatures out. I should note that I'm mostly going to be playing with a couple friends and know that one of them is highly likely to have and Akroma, Angel of Wrath commander, and the other is likely to be running some sort of vampire or faire deck. So having ways to be able to block flying, or nullify combat damage would be nice as well for some of that, or even being able to get some things out to protect myself long enough to get the heavy hitters out. I also have trouble figuring out a good ratio of lands to everything else, so help there would be nice. I have about 4 dual G/R lands, and a handful of lands that just give colorless mana that could help, with some of those lands able to tap and tap for 1 to give a color of my choice.
Budget wise, I'm mostly stuck with what I have which is various cards from mostly sets I'm not that familiar with, but I do have and recognize the Lorawyn, Morningtide, and Eventide sets, Planar Chaos, and Time Spiral. I also have some M13, and M19 set cards. the Lorawyn block is about the last time I played, so that should give you a good idea for how long I've been out of the game. That said, the later card sets I have are ones that were just being straight thrown out into the trash(I worked on a trash truck at the time), but still kept within boxes, so they were easy to save. That said, I can spend a little bit here and there, but don't really want to spend to much over maybe $5 per card if possible.
For all those that decide to throw out some tips and advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.
