Am I the ******** for being stroppy after this game?
Casual commander FNM at my LGS, this is a game for nothing, rounds are timed at 50 min so there is a time limit.
Thalisse, Reverent Medium Opponent 1.
Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker Opponent 2.
Glissa, the Traitor, Me.
Late game Thalisse has got a huge board a lot of tokens and some big flyers and importantly Bastion of Remembrance. Shirei has a board of self sac-able creatures, Shirei and Dictate of Erebos. Shirei started saving creatures but all it was doing was losing us life and impacting my board barely impacting Thalisse board. I ask them not to, they do it anyway. Then it comes to my turn, I have Sylvan Library and Inventor's Fair and I have O-stone and Pernicious deed in hand. I just need to find a way to destroy Bastion. Instead of letting me work out if I can live, Shirei sacs their board, wipes my board, sets my life total to 3 and takes themselves out of the game. I ask them not to and ask that they let me try to work out if I can escape but nope just takes themselves out and leaves me without the ability to use Inventor's fair or Sylvan Library. I am just so frustrated at not being allowed to try and solve the puzzle of how to get out from under Thalisse board. Shirei points out that time was nearly up and it was time to go home so it didn't matter but aaarrrgh now what should have been a fun Friday Night has left me stroppy that it ended so badly. Thalisse was so excited about winning that they wanted to talk about how great their deck performed but all I could offer was a short "I don't feel like talking"
Tl : DR Am I the ******** for being mad that a player choose to decide the winner rather than let me desperately try to find the solution for a few minutes.
Only a little bit. Everyone gets salty once in a while. The nature of FFA games is that you don't get to dictate to your opponents how they're gonna play the game, unless you can persuade them with some kind of offer. Shirei player didn't acquiesce to your demands, and you took it out on the other player, kind of, so I don't like that. Nothing an apology can't fix after you cool off, I think.
