So i bought all the guild kits a few months back, and sleeved them up in a battlebox, Purchasing the DnD ravnica dice set i used the Guild dice to make it fun, you roll the dice and that is the guild you get to play as.
I quickly realized that pre mades are boring as hell to play. But it got me thinking. Why not customize them a bit and turn my 60 card pre mades into EDh deck with some limitations.
the first thing i am going to mention is that the Commanders the premium foils. no negotiations on this. Sure Niv-mizzet, Parun may be better than the firemind but he is not the premium foil so Firemind is teh commander (Not to say I cannot run the other two nivs.
The second thing is that all cards must be from Ravnica (Now there are a few exceptions, Lands which will be discussed in a second, along with some artifacts that have a full cycle printed (Like the talismans)
I play with 37 lands so the remaining 22 will be basic, 11 and 11. (Sadly the guilds only have 8 of each basic, so i may have to buy more guild basics or just suffer with non guild basics)
As for Artifacts
-Signet
-Locket
-talisman
I am willing to allow more mana rocks given that they are not rare (Chromatic lantern) and have a full cycle (Trying to keep mana fair for each guild, by being exactly same (In their colors) (Sol ring is alos not going to be in thee decks. Don't want to focus on too much fast mana)
Next will be the bulk of the decks. I already have a good chunk. 37 lands, 3 artifacts, Commander, that is 41 cards, and the guild kits have a good chunk of stuff in them. So really what i want to do is stick to the ravnica sets. (that gives us 9 sets to work with) I do not want to run PWs. I don't want to worry about balance and PWs come in all shapes and sizes, they do not balance as well. However, Krenko, mob boss if from m13, but his flavor text states ravnica and his next incarnation was in the ravnica sets, so as long as the character depicted on teh card is CLEARLY a ravnica character, even if not a ravnica set card, it is legal.
And finally, i will be running each guild mage (There are 3 per guild.)
So we are at 44 cards being run so far, and i am pretty happy. I figure using the bulk of the guild sets I will have most of what i need, but still looking for help filling out the last few cards. I want to keep the decks balanced in power without straying to far from what they do (i could build 10 decks that have 1 mana 1/1 creatures. But that defeats the purpose of this deck. That is also why I am keeping it in ravnica, aside from the guild sets already helping immensely, It tries to keep it balanced.
So help please?
(And pleas try to keep on theme, Simic likes counters, so don;t go suggesting Prime Speaker Vannifar as not only is she leaps and bounds better than most other decks will have available, but she is not on theme. (a sin +1/+ counters)
One more final note: I will also be trying to include each incarnation of the commander.
I like this idea, but if you're just powering up the battle box, shouldn't you just power up the battlebox, making less crap constructed decks rather than thematic but still crap EDH decks?
Krenko, mob boss if from m13, but his flavor text states ravnica and his next incarnation was in the ravnica sets, so as long as the character depicted on teh card is CLEARLY a ravnica character, even if not a ravnica set card, it is legal.
This has got my attention though. A list of all Ravnica cards, regardless of the set they were printed in. I don't know if this exists somewhere, and if it doesn't, we should make it.

I should but the main attraction to making them EDH is the fact that I don't know many people who still play 60 card magic (I know they exist, but aside from the legacy players at my LGS who show up now and then, i never see people play it (Plus i go Thursday nights which is EDH night)
Thing is I feel that having 10 sets with similar power would be a great way to kick back, crack open a beer roll a die and play some basic games. Instead of having your 50 dollar deck, your 300 dollar deck, your 500 dollar deck, or my 4500 dollar deck, you play with what you roll. I will always be trying to tweak the balance to make it that just because you won two games with Izzet, does not mean it is the best deck, you just got lucky. This also limits the cards that come out, unless we go back to Ravnica (Which I doubt we will for a bit) there are no new cards to add to these decks. I have a card pool which is done. (plus powering up these deck and tweaking them for EDH night is not the goal. I can pull this off the shelf and it will feel more like a board game) (And give us all a chance to be on equal playing fields, regardless of who has the better income)
there is also a guy at my LGS trying to do something similar, but unlike me he is not thinking about balance. He is building ten 2-color decks. No theme. i am at least sticking to ravnica guilds. (He has a Mazirek, Kraul death priest deck and another one (Not sure of commander)
Alright here is my attempt at the Simic deck. It's a good stuff +1/+1 counter matter and just has plenty of draw and additional ways to produce mana, aka "what Simic does".

You are able to throw a deck together with a small primer to go with it. I love you (platonically of course)
I will probably forgo Doubling season simply due to it being a bit out of my price range. I won't proxy it either. But i may look into Primal vigor. I have a copy and it essentially does the same thing that doubling season need to do, and i have a spare.
EDIT: i am breaking my own rule about ravnica only. I just really do not want to proxy it...
As I was researching green for Simic, I couldn't help but notice cards that were going to fuel an Izoni, Thousand-Eyed strategy, so thought I might as well do this one as well.
Mini-primer coming up, lol. It's a dredge strategy to get creatures into your graveyard for Izoni undergrowth ability.
Obviously getting dredge online requires some key cards. There are very few search library effects to get these with the Ravinca block, so I've been careful to maximize these, so that you can get dredge going sooner.
Being able to discard a dredge outlet, rather than casting is nice, especially if it's Golgari Grave-Troll you're looking to use.
But luckily Izoni, Thousand-Eyed ability to sacrifice a creature, means that you can hard cast Golgari Thug or Stinkweed Imp each turn to get the dredge.
You're looking to take the game into the later stages, and grinding people out with some mass removal, which you should be able to claw back from more easily with Izoni, Thousand-Eyed card draw ability, and big reanimation effects. You're quite happy to kill off your own Izoni in the process so that you can recast her for value again.
It might be that you just use Life from the Loam to make sure to get land drops every turn to get to the grindy latter stages of the game, so that you have mana to keep recasting your commander in the face of removal.
A nice interaction is using Awaken the Erstwhile to make everybody discard their hands, and then Izoni, Thousand-Eyed allows you to refill your hand much more quickly by sacrificing the Zombies you created.
I've been careful to avoid the "scavenge" ability that was a mechanic through some of the blocks, as you really want to keep your creatures in graveyard for other spells, but the one Varolz, the Scar-Striped can be used as another finisher once life totals are down and attacking seems good.

I notice many of your cards overlap and while it may not be your intention it does make the decks feel a little similar. yeah that is the main idea (to have them balanced) but with Utopian sprawl and Birds, that s fast mana fr green that non green will not be able to get. Its is not like Gruul will not be able to get fatties out. i feel i will have to limit all mana accel to what everyone has access to. (i know it is green's greatest strength, but that was not the plan. i wanted to abuse guild strength not color strengths. (Which is again why i wanted to keep it in Ravnica. Simic always has +1/+1 counters (graft, evolve, adapt) Golgari is more about grave play shenanigans, and gruul is about being a timmy. Each guild has their thing, so i wanted to build the decks that way. Focus on what they are good at instead of what they can run. (And then limit what they can run) (If i open ended these builds. 100 bucks and I could finish all these decks in an afternoon. But that may not balance them right.

I hadn't looked at artifacts so there are some easy replacements. I do think the bottleneck in Iona is mana, so changing draw elements for mana is probably a better deck anyway.

Signet and locket are in all decks already. That is why i thought you had not listed them, because in my first post i already mentioned they are being run. Along with the keyrunes and the Talismans, (like Talisman of Curiosity for simic (since it is a full cycle, it is one of the exceptions since all guilds can run it))
I think the only mana accel will be those 4 artifacts. (Keep it even) maybe grab one more for god measure, Like Mana Geode.
And Vanifar was removed simply due to the mana cost of creatures. there is a very large amount of 4 and 6, not many 5 and unlike most vanifar use, they don't combo off. So I felt t was a wasted slot. She is better as a commander or in a deck more focused for her.

But because there are no other sacrifice outlets the Protean Hulk seemed better in Iona, so removing Vannifar seems fine.
The other one was getting Biogenic Ooze at 5 cmc, so that you'd get a split in creatures which is nice to start the chains again. But there was literally only Birds of Paradise at 1 cmc, so again removing this makes her worse. Vannifar is an Ooze so you'd get the +1/+1 counter from the Biogenic Ooze

She does seem a little too situational in that scenario.
I'll put hulk in izoni (You might wnat to stop calling her Iona, Iona is an actual creature)

Alright here is my attempt at the Simic deck. It's a good stuff +1/+1 counter matter and just has plenty of draw and additional ways to produce mana, aka "what Simic does".
Some interactions to look out for is Vigean Graftmage and Incubation Druid can give you infinite mana.
Also look to put a +1/+1 on Prime Speaker Vannifar to get multiple uses with Vigean Graftmage.
Don't be shy about using Ooze Flux to make Oozes and then sacrificing them to Perilous Forays to setup your mana base more.

But i may look into Primal vigor. I have a copy and it essentially does the same thing that doubling season need to do, and i have a spare.EDIT: i am breaking my own rule about ravnica only.
Dredge
Golgari Grave-Troll
Golgari Thug <- Shred Memory
Stinkweed Imp
Life from the Loam <- Shred Memory
Being able to discard a dredge outlet, rather than casting is nice, especially if it's Golgari Grave-Troll you're looking to use.
But luckily Izoni, Thousand-Eyed ability to sacrifice a creature, means that you can hard cast Golgari Thug or Stinkweed Imp each turn to get the dredge.
Discard outlets
Erstwhile Trooper
Lotleth Troll
Pack Rat
Vivien's Arkbow
Jarad's Orders one of the best cards in the deck as you can setup dredge and discard, for example Golgari Grave-Troll and Lotleth Troll.
Jarad's Orders <- Dimir House Guard
Chord of Calling and Finale of Devastation could easily be used get you a dredge creature in a pinch.
There are also plenty of other ways to get cards into your graveyard, with additional big pay off rewards like, Command the Dreadhorde, Empty the Catacombs, Finale of Eternity.
Savra, Queen of the Golgari is especially good combined with Izoni, Thousand-Eyed to lock down opponents.
Woebringer Demon does a similar job of squeezing people out, while your own 1/1 black and green Insect creature tokens give it fodder.
There are some big payoff cards that use your life total like; Doom Whisperer, Savra, Queen of the Golgari, Command the Dreadhorde, Bolas's Citadel.
So even though you get some life gain through Izoni, Thousand-Eyed, there are some other life gain elements through Deathrite Shaman, Crypt Ghast, Pontiff of Blight, Savra, Queen of the Golgari, Swarm Guildmage.
Make sure you pad your life total by blocking (even chump blocking if necessary), because creatures going to graveyard isn't the worst, especially if you're lining up a big removal spell anyway like Massacre Girl, Gaze of Granite type spell, or big reanimation/recursion spell like Command the Dreadhorde or Empty the Catacombs or Finale of Eternity.

If you only wanted to run Chord of Calling and Finale of Devastation in one deck then choose Izoni, Thousand-Eyed as Simic has a more robust distribution of cards, where Iona wants those key dredgers.

Zegana, Utopian Speaker -> Roalesk, Apex Hybrid -> Prime Speaker Zegana -> Protean Hulk -> restart a lower chain, i.e. Coiling Oracle + Biomancer's Familiar + Gyre Sage, or whatever suited.

I also am thinking of adding Bred for the hunt.
