The article talked about how Vela was a popular ninja general until Yuriko showed up, but noted several quirk Vela has over Yuriko.
1) Vela doesn't need to attack for her ability to trigger, and could potentially one-shot everyone with a successful cast of Infinite Reflection or Rite of Replication.
2) Vela could run an artifact heavy deck. The article contains a list of such.
3) Vela provides immediate combat evasion when needed.
The article also noted several issues with Vela, most notably her cc of six, but that part is ameliorated by an artifact focused approach. With Modern Horizon and War of the Spark there are also some new addition to a Vela-Artifact deck, such as Karn, the Great Creator (combo with Mycosynth Lattice), Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge, Urza, Lord High Artificer, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. If there's a deck Urza and Yawgmoth could work together, I think this is it; Urza focuses on the artifact, while Yawgmoth's free sac+draw+creature removal works wonder with Vela's ability and artifact tokens. The newest Tezzeret adds a new draining method via artifact, further allow a Vela player to play defensive while counting down the clock.
I'd like to hear what people's thoughts on this one. I will compile a list of cards as usual to visualize what we got.
