First post so apologies if anything isn't correct. Was wanting to ask the wider mtg public advice as to a budget alternative to teferi's protection (playing in selvala explorer returned combo).
Meta i'm most often up against is 75%, mostly combo, except for a few fairly tuned voltron decks (Bruna, Scion).
Currently running Heroic protection and silence, and thinking of using Angel's grace, but just feel like none are ideal. Was wondering if there are any budget alternatives.
It is pretty dependent on what you're trying to achieve. There's plenty of tricks to stop an alpha strike, or even to subvert it. Gideon's Sacrifice will give you a turn at the expense of one of your pieces. Comeuppance will redirect the damage. Selfless Squire turns into a beater for you. Weathered Bodyguards takes the hit for you (I used to run this one a lot). There's quite a few tricks available here, so it really depends what colours you're running and what specifically you're trying to achieve. There's plenty of fog variants, too. Really depends on the scenario you're trying to avoid.
As RxPhantom pointed out Eerie Interlude and also Ghostway to protect your creatures. When combined with Eternal Witness you can get them back on the ETB trigger each times, so you can do it indefinitely. This is my favorite thing to do in a Selesnya deck. If you wanted to go a bit deeper then Greenwarden of Murasa or Skullwinder for the ETB effect.
There is really no budget alternative for Teferi's protection, it is a REALLY good card. (It actualy cost me less to my the Edgar deck and burn all the cards except for Teferi's protection than it did to buy the card by itself (I dind't burn it, just saying it was cheaper that way.)
So as I said no alternatives. However Angels's grace keeps you alive, Heroic intervention makes your creatures indestructible. you can also use cards like fog or Moment's Peace as they keep you alive. (When it comes to combat damage).
