What commanders are banned as Commanders in 1v1 Commander? Is 1v1 different than Duel Commander? If so, what is the difference?
What commanders are banned as Commnaders in Multiplayer Commander?
Also, do these two formats have their own banned list?
I've tried looking it up online and find it very confusing because I am getting conflicting information or unclear information. I'll also read an entire list only to realize at the end that the list is only applied to Online Commander (I am only interested in the paper format).
I really want to make a Geist of Saint Traft deck for 1v1 but believe it is banned.
Sorry for all the questions. Thank you in advance for whomever all answers.

There are 2 main 1v1 commander banlists: French (Duel Commander) and Magic Online 1v1. Leviathan used to exist but it appears that have ceded to the Online ruleset. The banlist for each are here:
Duel Commander is a different format. It has its own list, is 1v1 best of 3 and you can commander swap between games of a match.
Regular 1 v1 is just regular banned list and 40 life, away you go.
Geist is banned because it comes out very early and puts your opponent on a 6-point clock quite quickly. Given you will likely need to crack fetches and get duals/shocks to solve this, it's basically 2.5 turn clock.
Essentially, if your group is playing Duel Commander (also known as "French") then use their list. If it's regular 1v1, go nuts with your Geist deck.
No one that I know plays the online list with paper cards.

If you are using the French Banlist, Geist is indeed banned as a commander in that format.
There are no commanders that are "banned as commander" in traditional multiplayer EDH. If you want to review the banlist, that is located here.
