After i been introduced to magic with mtg- arena, im into this game.
Bought a standard premade deck and went to 3 friday night magic but found out most people play commander here.
So i googled through a few budget commander decks with cool commanders and went with an omnath budget landslide deck.
But after my first game i feel like im way ahead of every1 else after 2-3 turns, having double their mana en being on the receiving end of most attacks.
Is this considered a overpowered dick deck to play?
Tbh i expected to play 1 land every turn casting 1 5/5 token but ive already played 5 lands in 1 turn already.
Ive asked it at the table and they said it didnt matter, even tho i felt like most my cards got countered and was attack the most, even when i had creatures up and others didnt. They. Even discussed who would counter what spell of me so some1 else could counter the next spell i cast.
I havnt even included cards like sol ring ect, just basic lands and fetch land cards mostly and some other landslide cards.
Should i have bought a premade deck and slowly upgraded that like i did with standard?
The guys i play agianst are totally diffrent budget wise. Some play. 50 euro decks, some 3000 euro.
It does kind of help to see the decklist you're playing, but omnath is not generally considered a particularly nasty commander, and his strategy is pretty straightforward and fair.
Don't bother with the list darrenhabib gave you - for the top 2-3 tiers, that list only applies to specific (usually combo-oriented) decklists and not to the commander as a whole. i.e. tazri tribal allies is totally fine to play in any playgroup, it's only the food chain combo list that's "tier 1". If you're using that list to judge the power level of your decks you're going to get a very warped perspective (unless you're playing cEDH, and don't worry, you are not playing cEDH).
Tempering power level can be a tricky subject to tackle, but Omnath is almost certainly fine in most groups. He's really easy to handle if he ever gets out of control. But if you want to have a less competitive deck to avoid being the center of attention for a bit, picking up a precon can be a good way to go. Or borrow other peoples' decks, that's what I like to do.
I dont have a decklist atm.
Just got a budget decklist and ordered the cards under 2-3 euro and replaced the more expensive cards with lands (about 5-6 of them)
Im not sure i like this deck 100% yet so dont wanna dump cash into it.
So my deck is by no way optimised but it sure looks scary spamming lands like there is no tomorrow.
I kinda like diffrent win conditions so i might end up with a mill deck or something like that.
I have about 1500 druid wins on my hearthstone account, id guess about 800-900 are from milling the opponent.
But i need better knowlage of the game pf what to counter and what not before i start playing blue, thats why i thought i picked something straightforward like omnath.
A guy in my playgroup plays vampires, very straightforward aswell but it seemed boring when i played it.
Since you are starting out, it would be best to stop at 3 decks and improve those over time, you don't need every good card for those decks. Reason being while you can build new decks to keep experimenting, you may not fully understand what you want to like based on others comments and reactions.
Dumping lands into play is something that people who have played a fair amount of Commander will raise an eyebrow at. Ramping is not frowned upon as a “dick move,” but it is a reason people will use to target you (similar to drawing tons of cards or building a big board).
Since you are just starting out, my best advice is for you to get as many format staples as possible. These would be lands and artifacts that make colorless mana, generally or have effects like Vedalken Orrey.
You're not a dick. Omnath is strong, but pretty straightforward. He's not the best, not the worst, your opponents just need to be careful of their plays and put pressure on you - it's part and parcel of playing against this commander.
Most people will reserve those sort of feelings for commanders like Kaalia of the Vast, who's generally considered a kill on sight commander. Omnath has a reputation too, and all it means moving forward is that you need to be aware of this and play with it in mind.
You don't need to stop playing him though; he's beatable. All you really need to take into account is whether you enjoy playing the deck or not, and whether you're happy to be the archenemy - it's fairly common for Omnath, so just roll with it.

He means Vedalken Orrery, basically cards that let you cast spells as if they had flash.
Omnath's not really that strong, and he doesn't really interrupt opponents' play. And keep in mind, you're probably only using ten percent of his power. (It's like this: Zur the Enchanter can tutor for the best card draw engine in the game, but loses a lot of power without that.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Ok, tonight i was playing with some other people and they just went for the biggest treaths and i lost all games, by alot.
1 of them played a coin flip commander and killed all 3 players in 1 turn, while also countering stuff.
Lots to learn and improve.
Thanks for the responses
Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom and Okaun, Eye of Chaos are just painful to play against. Thankfully they're pretty few and far between, very much a one trick pony. Unless you've got an answer on hand right away and everyone is on point with stack interactions and priority the flips will just resolving and everyone loses. It's remarkably lame.
Just remember that Omnath has a reputation that proceeds itself. You're likely to be perceived as one of the biggest threats at the table anytime you shuffle up, so with this commander you'll just have to game hard and take no enemies to survive and to win games. It'll be fine

Bolded for emphasis.
This is the exact attitude you should have. I've been playing this game for a long time, and many games are still learning experiences. Discovering new cards and strategies is a huge part of the appeal. Keep going. Keep learning. It only gets better.

This, 100%. Every game should be a learning experience to my mind.
Any deck can be strong/win if left alone.
My first game with my Omnath deck, my opponents took a Tempt with Discovery with 6 players since everyone was hurting for land - needless to say I ran away with the game after that. Everyone agreed it was a bad idea.
As said, Omnath (and really any well known Commander) usually have a reputation so you will get targeted and have to play around that.

They're not that hard, if you remember you need removal. At 5 CMC and no green, you can probably expect to play each of them 3 times.

Yeah, I know. I guess I just think commanders that combo so easily are lame. At any rate most of my decks pack answers, the problem I’ve had in the past with these guys is packing enough answers for the table. No one else seemed to realize what was happening until it was too late.
Ramp in general is very much the easy mode of edh. You often have enough time to ramp because you have more life and aggro in general isn't played, ramp hate strategies are inconsistent and generally frowned upon and lastly you hardly "fizzle" as you always have a ramp target (your commander).
You shouldn't be too surprised if you stomp casual tables with a ramp deck. I have this suboptimal Zacama deck and can very easily win 3v1 games (I think I've only lost once or twice with the deck).

Don't get me wrong you can have great games, but I've never feared playing against Omnath.
Check out this list for the ranking of commanders for an idea that you are in good company with plenty of other strong decks.
