MTG Salvation

Currently developing a pillow-fort / control Chromium, The Mutable deck, and am trying to settle on a finishing move. The idea is control/survive the game till 1v1, then win with commander damage from chromium. I want to leave a deck slot or two for finishing cards. Currently, my front runner is Blackblade Reforged, but i am also toying with Umezawa's Jitte or something else maybe.

anyone have any thoughts? I dont want to overcommit to finsihing cards, and just run a few to help speed up the clock incase i have to go 1/1 unblockable human mode to make the game end faster.

edit - actually, the more i think about it, the better jitte is looking as a versatile card in a control style deck

Runechanter's Pike?

Duelist heritage, Double strike is always good in a Voltron Commander.

Also steel of the godhead seems pretty good

Hatred?

hatred should basically be a one-hit kill (if you have enough life to plough into it)

i'm not aware of any good madness cards that go well with the voltron theme.

in my voltron deck, the combination of inquisitor's flail and silverblade paladin (or any other double-strike enabler) has been pretty scary. effectively turns a 6/8 zedruu into a one-shot killing machine (going from 2 power to 6 really isn't hard either).

Strength of Lunacy?

Madness Unholy Strength is not where you want to be in EDH though.

The thing is that Chromium needs 3 attacks in dragon form. The only worthwhile voltron is to make him 11 power and then double strike is worth something.

Unless you are telling me the goal is to have a voltron Invisible Stalker with upkeep "Discard a card"

Where my head is at, I want him to be able to do either. My objective will be to survive to the last 2 players and then win via Chrome to the dome. With this goal in mind, several of the enchantments are feasible, though I want him to be able to go unblockable in a pinch where I am struggling to get through in the air. That's why I was leaning towards cards like the black blade, which would make a 1/1 still a viable clock (late game, should be a 7/7 or higher easily). I am going to playtest jitte tonight since it allows me to take advantage of other cards in my build via -1/-1 (notably Academy Rector effects)

Swords of X can still trigger base on combat damage, even if Chromium turns into 1/1, because the Swords themselves own the trigger ability.
