I like this idea in general and it doesn’t matter to me if the definitions are soft. The convey an idea of the poster’s intention, which is very useful. It takes conversation to nail down specifics no matter what, so some sort of starting point can only help.
I do think a sticky explaining tags would be helpful. I’ve been using this site for 6+ years and I still have no idea what some tags mean; that’s very annoying.
Kinda disappointed to see the amount of support for the idea. Frankly definitions of decks are dependent on metas and a group's definition of what it means to be competitive, etc. etc. etc. It's just going to add confusion in the end. I agree with darrenhabib that most decks with the Competitive tag in their title currently aren't even "competitive" by many Standards. But are they competitive to those people? Frankly the entire issue with this power level crap is that it completely misses the point of the format and it doesn't need propagated.
So something I've noticed over the last few years is a general homogenization of edh metas across the country.
I've now played in many stores in Phoenix, San Diego, LA with GP crowd, Las Vegas with gp crowd, and Erie.
When I first started playing edh decks I'd build would feel awkward just going to a new store in Phoenix.
I just started playing in Erie across the country and my decks fit in fine. I recognize most of what people are doing and not a lot of surprises.
This is clearly just anecdotal but I truly believe the wider commander meta is a thing and has been influenced by the strong communities online. I don't think it is quite as wildly diverse by playgroup as people think anymore.
All it takes is one dude in a meta on reddit and now they're going to drift toward the mean (to probably butcher some stat jargon)
