Hi there, I've taken a break from the game for a while and I'm now trying to get back into EDH, however I can't decide which commander I should choose. I'm looking for something at a "75%" power level with a low mana curve that is fun, interactive, and non-linear in strategy, the colors and archetype doesn't matter to me. I've tossed around the idea of using Sen Triplets, but I've struggled with building the deck since they're pretty open ended.
it might be worth trying to build something a lot narrower as a strategy as a "get back into the game" deck. something like zo-zu the punisher or heartless hidetsugo pressure deck. pack it with mass damage pinging, life-sapping stuff, and a very low curve. things like price of progress would be helpful too. and goblin goliath seems fun. stigma lasher and rampaging ferocidon also comes to mind. actually, this is sounding like a pretty awesome deck. chuck in a mass of snow-covered mountains and skred for good measure.
If you want a very interactive control deck, my favorites are Toshiro Umezawa (30 black removal spells and some support), and Dragonlord Ojutai (easy to build with control and voltron).
I tell player both old and new. When getting into edh, get a precon. Its a good startinv point and all can be upgraded. You might not start at 75, but you will get thete.
Any suggestions?
