I have been pondering about making a new commander deck. Looking at Progenitus or Child of Alara to be my General. Wondering if there is a card or combination that would allow one to carry over the "protection from everything" to all my creatures?
Also if there is a way to protect only my permenants from Chalara's board with? An expensive play I found on google was Darksteel Forge and Mycosynth lattice.
Heroic Intervention is a cheap one-shot mass indestructible. You could also easily reanimate Avacyn, Angel of Hope; being in five colors you have the means to do so.
There are a lot more cards that can give creatures indestructible, but there are limited ways to give all your permanents indestructible, so that they can survive the Child of Alara.
Also worth noting that if you use Child of Alara as your general, you HAVE to let it go to the graveyard for its trigger to happen...putting it back in the command zone won't work. Granted, you'll be in five colors, so you have all the options to rez, but it's worth remembering.
Larry's "destroy all permanents" death trigger does not do any of those things. You could just use Avacyn, Angel of Hope, however. (By the way, Larry has to go to the graveyard in order to get a death trigger. Same issue with Kokopuffs)
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Thanks darrenhabib lots of help. And no I was not thinking that

And yeah, three of your colors have the means to cheat creatures into play. (Green does from the library, black and to a lesser extent white do so from the graveyard.) I would happily pay 8 life to use Reanimate on Avacyn.

Faith's Reward is also a consideration with Child; it doesn't stop your things from dying, but it brings them right back. Even Child!
However, as a Child of Alara player, I suggest not worrying so much. Embrace the destruction! My own Child deck has only Sun Titan, Eternal Witness, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad as things Child is even capable of blowing up. (Well, some of my other permanents have to become indestructible, like Fleecemane Lion.) And both Sorin and Gideon are in the deck for their respective emblems (turning Child into a 7 power commander for a 3-turn clock), so Gideon is basically never even around to be destroyed. He's a 4-mana sorcery that can't be countered by the likes of Swan Song.
Reanimating and sacrificing Child every turn does a lot of work, especially if you're reanimating with haste so you can swing in for commander damage (eg, Corpse Dance+High Market).
Also if there is a way to protect only my permenants from Chalara's board with? An expensive play I found on google was Darksteel Forge and Mycosynth lattice.
Thanks in advance

Only really indestructible or blinking (exile until end of turn) will be the way to mitigate Child of Alara.
As void_nothing pointed out Avacyn, Angel of Hope. Another renewable thing would be to put the spells Boros Charm or Heroic Intervention under an Isochron Scepter.
There are a lot more cards that can give creatures indestructible, but there are limited ways to give all your permanents indestructible, so that they can survive the Child of Alara.
