TnN is at least potentially interesting, when people don't play it for an easy "I win" combo. I know some do play it that way, but that is far from universal.
In contrast, Iona is innately unfun. I doubt any EDH game has ever been made better or more fun by Iona having been cast.
I don't understand how we have so many things that we have banned for essentially the exact reason she should be banned and yet she continues to run free.

I think the main case for keeping Iona free is that it's relativly rare to see it played, atleast in my experiecne, which would be indiciative that the card is being handled by the formats social contract. There are many card that can warp the degenerate the game if played with that intent, but as long as many people aren't playing them in that way they are fine.
The best case if for the RC to focus there limited bans on cards that people just can't stop themselves from playing and abusing, see Leovold, Prime Time, Sylvan Prime, and PoK. I think Cyclonic Rift or Purpheros are the closest legal cards that have very high presence and huge power.
That's your perspective. But I find it equally arguable that Iona, Shield of Emeria is the exact type of card that was made for EDH. A huge, fat, flying angel with a truly impressive, flashy ability. A salty opponent (who's not a good player) once told me that my counterspells weren't "interesting" so can't ban just on that. Good players with good decks don't play her because she's 9cmc and in white (almost all of the good decks with reanimation are not white), that and she actually doesn't shut down all that much for 9cmc. A card in Humility shuts down even more for even less (4cmc).
What I don't understand is the people who want Iona and Painter's Servant to switch places. They say that Iona shuts off interaction, yet most of the huge impact "colors-matter" cards that Painter's Servant would enable are color-hosers and Grindstone. People also forgot about Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Got to ban that too if Painter's is off the list?
There's always Glamerdye and its ilk, if anyone is actually interested in colors.
There are numerous ways to achieve the same style of lock that Iona + PS causes with legal cards and people aren't playing them. It seems like a big stretch in reasoning to assume that players will jump at the chance to jam Painters Servent combos when those styles are already discouraged by the social contract and have numerou legal versions.
Is PS really a more abusable card that Protean Hulk? Hulk enables many more potential combos and is baically causing no problems since it's been unbanned.
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

- Cyclonic Rift, Mana Crypt, and Sol Ring were next in line all at 28.9%
- Surprisingly, Palinchron was next at 26.3%
- The only other cards to even crack the 20% threshold are Gaea's Cradle (22.4%) and The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale (21.1%)
So if there is anything to be taken way from this poll (as limited as it may be), it would be to ban Iona, Shield of Emeria and unban Gifts Ungiven and Painter's Servant.
