Hey guys! I'm new to the forums, and I've come to ask for some advice. I'm looking to play a relatively cheap Commander deck with some friends also playing casual decks. I'm a big fan of UR, and I was thinking I'd have a blast playing Melek, Izzet Paragon, and, for a twist, creatureless if I can manage it.
I'm looking for a minimum amount of artifacts and enchantments (Sol Ring and Arcane Melee are probably going to be in for sure), and a maximum number of spells to be casting.
Any suggestions for a good time?
Edit/Reply to Gashnaw: Looking to cap out around 100$. I have lands covered, and may outright buy a Izzet Precon to get started that I won't count towards that soft limit.
With 100 bucks you don't even need to buy a Pre con. There are many decks you can build with just 100 bucks. Now if you really want to buy an izzet pre con I have 2 suggestions over 2018.
2017 wizards. Deck is garbage right out of the box. But you get some nice wizards in there. Meek and a few ice spells. However I would instead suggest
2015 seize control. This is an izzet deck and imo so much better than this year's izzet deck. In fact if you can get seize control cheap, it is worth it as editing that deck is very easy. The izzet deck year is more focused on artifacts. Seize control is spells.
I would play Future Sight so you can play lands and other permanents from the top of your library. Even with no creatures, you will have a lot of situations where the top card is a land. Last I checked it was about 1$.
Winning with spells is doable, but you should identify which spells you will win with... will it be Storm? Will you rely on big spells?
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm leaning more towards big spells for sure. Low drops early game to survive long enough to cast the big things. Token producers for blockers, instants for defense and sorceries for setup.
I'll be making the deck tonight after I get home from work, and I'll post what I have here.
I suggest Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Infinite combos and super expensive cards aside, Jarad can be really good even if you keep your deck really budget. Black and Green also can pretty much do anything: Ramp, Draw, Removal, Tokens, Big Dudes, Life Gain / Drain, and most importantly recur your threats. Black and Green have a lot of flexibility and survival, and can hold its own at most tables.
If you wanna run minimum permanents, make sure you run an Epic Experiment. I always have a ton of fun casting it. Also, don't overlook how powerful it can be to cast a Ponder or Preordain of the top of your deck.

Something else?
You will probably want to invest most in cards that manipulate the top of your library. Mystical Tutor, Brainstorm, Sensei's Divining Top...
