So I have been fooling around in theory crafting 60 cards decks for my battlebox to get back into the old school kitchen table magic. Of course when I finally checked the price of my decks (Only have 6/10 i wished to build) I discovered that it would cost me $260+. I do not have that kind of money (And it is not even like i am getting expensive cards, in fact most of it is under a dollar. I just have a lot of cards to get.
That said I do like the tribes i was working on. I already have a ninja tribal deck, and while I am also fond of Pirates, Knights and even Villagers (innsitrad humans) Samurai is the one that really struck me. I really like them, they have a lot of legends and have some interesting combinations. Like for example, If I throw a Lure on Fumiko, i may be able to kill a lot of creatures. As She gets pumped for every creature blocking her.) If I have 5 samurai, That is Bushido 5 for each one blocking her. Ten creature block her, that is an extra 50 power.)
While Lure is a fun idea, i don;t really want to throw green in just cause there is that little treat and one green samurai (Although creature search is good) I was looking more for a Boros or at very most Mardu. Of course, Naya is not completely off the table as Gahiji, honored one is a fun idea. Suggest attacking others, and also have my Samurai get pumped when they attack, so they have the +2, and the Bushido.
If I go Boros i may use Aurelia, the Warleader as Extra attacks means that they will be bigger. In combination with godo, bandit warlord, that is 2 extra attacks. Of course aurelia was meant to do an angel tribal deck. Which I may still end up doing, which brings me to the second Boros Option, Ioras, God of Victory. The issue with this one is a bit better and worse. I want them to block my creatures. And my creatures have menace, meaning they have to use two to block meaning i get double boshido. So What's the issue? Well with menace and all damage done to them is negated, They may instead just not block. After all no blocking means my Samurai stay small and don't do a lot of damage. Once they realize that i am not doing much damage at all, they let me attack and then everyone swings at me as it goes to my next turn. I may be able to survive one round, but i will not be able to survive a second strike. I have to alpha strike in hopes of eliminating a player while i get alpha striked three times.
So That is my dilemma, what general to use and is adding green worth it? should I just go Mardu to grab all the best Samurai and maybe also get some reanimation in there for when my samurai die? Or Do i go with Boros and decide between Aurelia or Ioras. (A second attack alpha strike with angels is far more concerning than a second attack alpha strike with Samurai)
so yes I would like help (I think i may eventually make another thread for knights or pirates in the future, but i already have commanders decided for them)
Most of the samurais are white and red, but adding other colors would provide supportive spells. Saskia the Unyielding would put combat in your favor, for one, and adds removal and ramp. Combat manipulation like Boros Battleshaper and Brutal Hordechief would put bushido into good use.

I have two Samurai Tribal decks, a mono-red headed by Godo, Bandit Warlord and a Naya one that wanted to be Boros, but I just didn't have any inspiration from a Boros commander, so I ended up using Samut, Voice of Dissent for a splash of green. Samut is not particularly important to the deck as well, mainly just giving creatures haste, and at least she is wielding swords (flavor).
The Naya deck is just as much a combo equipment deck, so I can't say it's outright pure tribal, but I do pack in as many Sumarai as there are printed cards.
Honestly Sumarai Tribal is pretty awful as a strategy, and you might be better off waiting until a good (or any) Boros Sumarai legend is printed.

That's not how Bushido works. It's a static +x regardless of how many creatures block.
It works different from, say, infiltration lens because lens specifies that it's per each blocking creature. It becomes blocked by a creature for each creature blocking it, but it only becomes blocked once.
Sorta confusing, admittedly. I'm struggling a little to explain the nuance, but it's laid out in the wiki article and the rulings on those cards.
