How is narset "generic"
She is easily one of the .ost hated (and probably broken) commanders out there. (Granted the RC thought erayo, refellos, and Leovold were worst. But that is neither here nor there)
For the most part Narset can be built in one of three ways:
1. Chaining together extra turns/combat steps (the most competitive option).
2. Superfriends
3. Value (playing R/U/B non-creature good stuff and use her trigger for value).
Putting in a another vote for Ramos, Dragon Engine. I've seen many completely different deck strategies for him, he just excels at so many things.
I'd also recommend Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis. They definitely do not need to be a group hug deck, I've seen them build as a land-matters deck, land-destruction deck, card-advantage deck, and my version is built completely around theft cards (e.g. Zealous Conscripts). Your opponents play more cards from the benefits Kings provide, you just steal them all away, sac them to Claws of Gix or keep them with Sundial of the Infinite. The Kings giveth, and the Taxman taketh away.

Just to add to that, I've had two incarnations of K&T recently:
- Hand-size matters - in both regards. I play Maro's, and blast y'all with the occasional Sudden Impact or Spiraling Embers. Bulwark is bonkers.
- 'Wall of Beefcake': Defenders/pillowfort coupled with every red 'ping each opponent' effect. Not as effective, but very fun if it gets rolling. (Zhur-Taa Druid or Lobber Crew can deliver a lot of damage over a game, because while they do damage, it's just little enough that people don't want to waste removal on them...)

Sundial doesn't synergize with conscripts or other threaten effects that give you control until end of turn, since such effects just end when the sundial is activated and the stolen cards go back to their former controller.

-can put in tons of cheap cantrips to enable him quickly
-can go combo with freed from the real/pemmin's aura.
-can go sea monster tribal if you're one of *those* people - although I wouldn't consider this a real synergy.
-can go land synergy
-can go ramp
-can go evasion/protection voltron
-can go power-matters
-can combine some of these together
Lots of ways to go with him, which enable a lot of different builds. Fast voltron would look very different from a land synergy deck which would look very different from a combo build. By far the coolest UG commander they've made imo.
Arkhaic, do you have a decklist I could look at? I have tried different ways to steal opponent's creatures but I have yet to find a deck that really works.

It has a lot of expensive cards that can be swapped out for budget equivalents. I run a staples folder so I can run all my expensive cards in every deck, but not everybody chooses to go that route.
Queen Marchesa
She gets you cards. Every deck likes having cards.
Lord Windgrace
He doesn't need to be lands-matter at all. You also don't need to defend him because he ramps you by 2 every time you play him which makes him hilariously easy to re-cast. Just play him with Faithless Looting, Cathartic Reunion, some fetches, and the Cultivate/Kodama's Reach that you were probably going to run anyways and then you can do whatever else you want.
If you're playing Sultai, Damia, Sage of Stone is an excellent choice because that ability can work with basically anything. I'm currently working on using her for a deck that poops out seven Lullmage Mentors (or as I call it, "hey, anyone out there remember to have Supreme Verdict?"). But I've used her for... uh, I think every Sultai commander deck I've run in the past. Except maybe one with, like, Tasigur or something when I didn't have her for some reason.
If you're building a creature-based deck, Ravos, Soultender is a worthy choice no matter what as long as you're playing at least white and black. Should we count the Partner commanders, though?
Overall, most commanders that have nice abilities that would be handy to have on-demand but which don't force you down a particular path are generally good choices if you want flexibility. So, like, things like Kraum, Ludevic's Opus; Jori En, Ruin Diver; Kambal, Consul of Allocation; the tri-color legendary dragons; etc. You can do a lot of options with these and it's just nice to have easy access to those abilities. Just take care you don't immediately start turning them into [colors]_goodstuff.dec unless that is what you want to build.
So basically what I'm saying is that you probably have some flex space as long as you're not playing anything with "sliver" anywhere in the type line.

Yep, I was just misremembering. Sundial is what I use in my Riku deck, it synergizes with Kiki-Jiki, Splinter Twin, Chandra, Flamecaller etc.
For the Threaten effects in Kings I use Nephalia Smuggler, Deadeye Navigator and Bazaar Trader. Still get to keep the stolen cards.
