so I have been wanting to brew a deck around Shalai, voice of plenty but I have a problem. I have never made a GW deck before and none on my decks have thoese colors together in them so I am kinda stuck in the design phase of the deck. I know GW is great at tokens and enchantress but how do I get there? I know you run all the doubling enchantments but after that I am lost (I have never made a token deck either). Do I just run a bunch of dorks to ramp hard then drop a token maker and then profit? Just a clueless brewing needing some advice or pointers on where to go and what to look for in GW.
My Shalai deck, I tried an invincibility or pillowfort strategy. Defensively, I use include Avacyn, Angel of Hope to give my permanents indestructible, privileged position to bolster Shalai, archetype of endurance as a redundant card to ensure that Shalai and him play off of each other. I also run a knight captain of eos with a few soldier token generators such as god-favored general and the enchantment mobilization. I also included Iona, Sigarda(OG), and Linvala Keeper of Silence as well as Lyra and Reya Dawnbringer to give my Angel's that extra omf. Other defenses I have include karmic justice, bonds of mortality, spear of heliod to hold them at gun point, Sphere of Protection and Ghostly Prison are also in there. On the offensive however I chose to run Herald of War, Angel of Deliverance, Krond the Dawnclad, and Guardian of the Gateless. Since I run a lot of enchantments I ran stanfield of NYx which when you reach its threshold it pairs well with Shalai. For good measure I also ran things such as Odric Master Tactician to control how they block and Cathar's Crusade. But on another point of the offensive is with all these enchantments Sigil of the Empty Throne does wonders to generate 4/4 angel tokens paired with Growing Ranks and Annoited Procession makes for some crazy token creation. A card I forgot to mention that I run that has came in use is Dryad Militant because it exiles instants and sorceries as they go into the graveyard. Its a pin if you want to cast a board wipe with Avacyn on the field but it's worth it to prevent your opponents from reusing their stuff without harming you.
