In our playgroup, the deck can win most of the time even when the game has turned into archenemy. I find it fun to play, much to the dismay of my buddies, but it's all fun for us and nobody gets too salty about it.
With Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain out now, I feel like she'll make a better artifact storm deck than Arcanis. I'd like to convert my mono U artifact storm deck into Jhoira by doing some modifications to it.
I did try adding in part of the Daretti, Scrap Savant shell but it made the deck too clunky and unreliable. Myr Retriever/ Junk Diver without an easily accessible sac outlet feels underwhelming.
Which way should I go with it? How do I make the deck feel smooth? How many cantrips should I include?

Quicksmith genius + top is just dumb. My current build is leaning towards 2 cmc prison effects that don't matter to me. I drop a few cost reducers and go to town. I settled on this after comboing out and winning a game when an opponent had just established a stasis lock.
I'm not sure I like the retraction helix line mentioned above (requiring blue mana early in the combo is really pricey, and it needs the other half of the combo to work) but Clock of Omens works with battered golem and traxos, as well as every other artifact you play for a very similar effect. Eratic portal or similar could provide the bounce.
If you want to be more explosive, moving toward cheerios is good. I still really like the 1 and 2 cmc artifacts that cantrip, but why pay mana for something if you don't have to? This setup is less reliant on Etherium Sculptor and friends, but is arguably more reliant on top end mana rocks like mox diamond or mana crypt, as your weaker mana rocks will be less likely to have a cost reduction attached.
Thank you. I've been out for a while but I've been collecting some cards I might be able to use in a cheerios type of deck. I'm intrigued with your 2-cmc prison effects. Might sharing those? I feel like I'll enjoy pillowfort/prison type effects as a sort of protection for combo decks like this. As of now, I have collected most of the cheaper 0-cmc artifacts and I'm now working on obtaining the Retract kind of cards.
I currently have an Arcanis, the Omnipotent storm deck that uses a combination of repeatable spells, Paradox Engine, Aetherflux Reservoir, and a lot of mana rocks. Its gameplan is outlined as follows:
1. Set-up a pillowfort (Propaganda, Crawlspace, etc.)
2. Cast cantrips and/or tutors to get combo pieces (Paradox Engine)
3. Drop Defense Grid and/or Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as protection
4. Storm off and win via Aetherflux Reservoir, holding Counterspell in hand just in case

I imagine a more casual route would be to go artifact tokens with Myr Battlesphere, Thopter Assembly, Sharding Sphinx, Bident of Thassa, and the like. Will this work if I want to dial down the deck's power level a bit?
Looking forward to your suggestions. I am limited by my budget but I'll be sure to try and accommodate as much as I can. Thanks!

2 - Have a free artifact or one that can pay for itself, like Sol Ring or Pentad Prism.
3 - Cast Banishing Knack or Retraction Helix on the thing from step 1.
4 - Return the thing from step 2, then replay it.
Don't forget to use Riddlesmith and Quicksmith Genius for extra card selection while setting up, and Reckless Fireweaver as a win-con in the combo.

I'm running Temporal Fissure and Grapeshot as my finishers with Flusterstorm as backup.
