Toc, I agree on all points, that's why I'll be going to my usual group on Wednesday, but also going to the EDH league at another store on Thursday. I'll post my Nazahn deck soon so you can see. It's not really underpowered, and I shouldn't be getting my butt kicked nearly as bad as I am. I've taken Feline Ferocity and added several cards like Blade of Selves, Sram, Senior Edificer, Open the Armory and Puresteel Paladin to make it better. I haven't had the money yet to build the Archangel Avacyn deck, nor have I been to my local game store in awhile. I'm going Wednesday and hopefully Alex and Eve will be there so we can discuss the local meta. I know the deck will do fairly well, because it's a creature-heavy meta, with one person who plays so many decks it's hard to tell what she's going to go for. She has just about every conceivable deck archetype, a total of I think 14 decks and #15 is in the works.
I'd be interested to see it, of course! And your friend sounds familiar - currently I have 15, and the amount of legendaries in the upcoming standard set is just obscene. I'm going to be hard pressed not to build again.
I'm pleased to hear you've got some options for your playgroups - it sounds like a bad crowd you were playing with - I'm no woman, but if I were the subject of 'this is why you don't play magic with women' I'd have punched the guy in the dick and never returned. I hope it all works out well, don't let a few bad experiences spoil what can be a ton of fun.
Eve has only played with us once, I forgot all about her when I was mentioning who plays in our group and what they play. I don't know if Eve gets hassled or targeted unfairly, I'll have to ask. I'll get to posting that cat equipment deck ASAP, Toc.

The deck is posted now. Any feedback here or there on the decklist thread would be appreciated. I shouldn't be losing every time with this deck, but it's not fully tuned by any means. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated, and now everyone can see what's been losing all the time.
You're almost certainly going to be targeted more often when you're new. Many people want to make sure that they will be able to deal with your deck in the future and until they know your deck a little better, you are the biggest unknown which means at any time you could be ready to go off for all they know.
One thing you can do to mitigate this is play low cmc pillow fort effects but that can only go so far. You can also get political. Pointing out another player's threat on the table but in a more subtle way like saying "Wow! That card is awesome" or "Oh boy, that card might just be the death of me." Really anything to get the attention off you without seeming desperate is a good play. You can also try to make a deal with another player to live longer if you have to, but this is more blatant and should be used as a last resort. Whatever you do though, try your best not to get upset because if youre in an immature playgroup it'll certainly put a long term target on your head. If none of these things work you may just have to face being the new kid until it dies down and people are just used to you.
If it does turn out that you are only being targeted because you're a girl, and you have real evidence to believe that is the case, you'll probably just have to find another playgroup because if that's the case it's unlikely the group will be willing to grow in maturity any time soon.
I see. The problem with that is that there is another new person, he uses a Mairsil, the Pretender combo deck. In my mind, his deck and another deck from a relative newcomer uses a Voltron strategy with Dragonlord Ojutai that can take a few turns in a row and finish someone before they can fight back. Both decks are FAR more dangerous than mine, but nobody goes for either of them first. Mairsil player can combo off suddenly as early as turn 5, but somehow my cats with swords deck is seen as more threatening, when it clearly isn't, which leads me to believe they are targeting me for some irrational reason, or a prejudicial one. I haven't bothered to learn the Mairsil player's name, because he's not a nice person and really turns me off.
I think it may just be in my best interests, as another has said to me in private messages, that I should just keep quiet most of the time at the table in terms of politics, because people don't like to be told what to do. I do get upset, I do take things personally, and I have shown it. That target is already on my head if they think that way. *sigh*

When being political you should never blatantly tell anyone who to attack or what to do. Instead in your case, since there are other new people, try to deflect the worry onto them without seeming synnical. Whenever you see them play a big threat you could throw out an "UH-OH"in a somewhat comedic tone or something along lines of "No stahp! Too powerful" but with a smile as to not seem angry. This puts the attention on their cards without telling anyone to flat out attack or remove them.
If there's someone in the group who's actual personality you strongly dislike, I would recommend finding another group. It's more effort than it's worth and not your responsibility to change that person. This is assuming you have no long time close friends within said group of course.
Edit:. Also, when first trying politics out, don't be surprised if people just keep going after you for a bit. If you've suddenly changed from always getting upset to a care free attitude, they may try to test you to see if you're really changed or not. Try not to get detterred and tilted from this. Its just the natural inclination of the troll.
I don't have any long time close friends in my area at all. I'm disabled and using EDH as a way to get out of my apartment and meeting people. So far it's not been that great of an experience.
