Plains forever! Eternal Dragon's great for always having land-drops and ways to use the mana.
A staple in Standard at one point, and my signature creature when I still played 60 cards. Always useful, never a dead card, and fix mana well by searching for dual lands.
This used to be an auto include before white got more options. Still, it finds you a land, can be recurring CA (although expensive), and is a recurrable creature. In white, thats pretty decent. Because of this, it still has uses. Dragon tribal that runs white can make use of its type. Also good in spirits.

Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
I'm sure there's a Neverending Story reference in here.
This guy looks like he'd be cute with Astral Slide and other "cycling matters" cards.
The obvious comparison is to Archangel, which he's better than; or Baneslayer Angel, where he's notably worse. But the real reason you play him is for the cycling and self-recursion. And if you want to play Dromoka, the Eternal in a deck with no red (e.g., Ghave), this gives you another dragon.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
This is a cool card I've never heard of. Could be fun with Mirror Entity to take control of basically any creature you want, and it's acceptable value even if you only get one creature out of it.

Zedruu: "This deck is not only able to go crazy - it also needs to do so."
It's good with a changeling deck against other tribal decks as long as they don't go super wide like gobbos or elves. Just don't let the goblin deck fork it.

A card that got a MASSIVE upgrade when human became a supported type.

Sometimes it's not just instant creature exile, it's also instant creature exile and mill 1 but weirder. I love this card so much and I seldom ever leave one out of any deck with blue in it.

Either the second or third best single target creature removal spell in the format (Swords to Plowshares is the unquestioned best, this is competing with Path to Exile). Excellent card, and it takes something exceptional for it to not be the correct choice to run this in any blue deck.
Glad to see so much love for Reality Shift. Hands down an amazing card. Been running it since forever and can't remember a single time i got hosed by the manifested card.
It really shines in mono-U. Not a ton of non-counter answers to creatures and if played at the right time it can even answer resolved old Gods.
There have been times where i considered running it over Path to Exile. The downside is usually laughable, whereas PtE can be nothing but a delaying meassure.
The 2 mana cost makes me hestitant to call it a blue swords, but it's among the best removal spells in the format for sure. I have seen it backfire hilariously once when a few turns later the Reality Shifter cast a wrath to deal with the army the Shifted person was building up backed by a Seedborn Muse (in Bant), and the smug was real when Avacyn, Angel of Hope got flipped over. Good times.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
The potential for wacko plays like what Lou describes is the only reason I don't hate this card btw. It's simply too good of a removal spell for blue. I'm generally against these blue turns creatures into worse creatures spells because of how laughable the drawback usually is. This sort of effect should either be an enchantment (which is removable), temporary, or more expensive with a bigger drawback like polymorph. Even Pognify and its twin go too far imo, as a 3/3 is a pretty mild drawback for a 1 mana removal spell. Curse of Swine is even better (or worse from a color pie perspective). Yes, it costs U more than reality shift to exile 1 dude, but there is no chance of the oig getting flipped like a manifest and you can hit multiple creatures with it for extra mana. That's a great spot removal suite for mono U. Beast Within bears the brunt of the "this was a mistake" hate, but these cards are on the same level of color pie violation (though not power). Hour of Need, which is a 2 mana instant that exiles and can target additional creatures for 3 mana a pop, is more appropriate, as in makes flying 4/4s. You'll still be better off facing that than whatever you exiled most of the time, but its still much less of a drop off.

It is kinda odd how blue has probably the best single target creature removal package in the format - Reality Shift, Pongify and Rapid Hybridization, with Mystical Tutor and Merchant Scroll getting them if you so need (as you're almost certainly running those tutors anyway), plus you're probably running a couple of bounce spells like Cyclonic Rift and Into the Roil which can supplement the hard removal. That's easily enough creature removal for pretty much any deck , and is significantly better than any other colour (white gets Stp and PtE, but the next best one is well down on these outside of Dispatch in artifact decks, and you don't have the tutors, while black, green and red aren't even close). Other colours might be better for all round removal, especially when you consider boardwipes, but if you want one creature gone, blue is the go to colour.
Anyway, yeah, this is one of those cards. The best part is, most people have "good" ETB abilities. It would suck if you accidentally a Phyrexian Dreadnought, but I guarantee you your opponent had a way to do the same without you if you see it.
The other situation where this is less than ideal is if your opponent is playing a deck (animorphs, blink) which uses a lot of morphs.

It's instant speed, exiling creature removal in blue. That's not so bad. I'd probably aim it at Ink-treader Nephilim cause it's funny.
