I run this and vandalblast in just about every red/x deck I have. If it's worth running once, it's worth twice, at least in my meta. I don't have good ways to search for it, so redundancy is a good thing.
Shattering Spree is often better than Vandalblast when it comes to blowing up artifacts while also keeping the balance of power just the way you like it. In terms of raw power and red mana requirement it falls behind. Also sometimes you want to blow up your own artifact, but that's not really a common thing.
How in the blazes is a 2 mana rock that taps for 1 AND has an additional mode just in case in any form or way trash?
Because some people wouldn't be satisfied until a card gave them a free draw7, and a happy ending.
Yeah by this reasoning we should play vizzerdrix in our decks

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
While Vandalblast is usually better, I wonder about By Force.
I'd very much rather run By Force since it allows me to use non-red mana, but well, I'm fine with just Vandalblast in my Rx decks. I do really like this card in other formats for getting around Chalice of the Void, but since Chalice is non-existant in this format (I don't think I've ever seen one), I don't want to run this. It's not bad, it's just that I'd rather run other cards over it if I want anti-artifacts card. Maybe in mono-red...

Honestly, Teferi Pool is not super fun and if that is what people are playing to the table I would rather not sit around hoping to draw a shattering spree... I would just scoop.
I actually prefer Shattering Spree over Vandalblast in a lot of cases unless I am 3+ colors or splashing red lightly. The ability to double up on targeting is really nice vs someone I think has counter magic.
This said, I have seen a number of times where I don't have enough versatility in shattering spree. Sure, sometimes there are a bunch of artifact targets that need to die but I have also had several times where there are non artifact things that need to die and the lack of versatility of this card really can bite you in the ass. I sometimes prefer Fiery Confluence due to this as the damage sweeping options of it and or tripple shatter are both effects I find relevant.
Shattering Spree can still have amazing moments and when its good.... its freaking great but I also think its a card that can decay in your hand to some degree. Different metas will dictate how useful it is in a big way. My favorite kinds of decks to use it in tend to be decks with filter effects as then I can pitch it when its not so great.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Replicate gives Spree similar benefits to Storm cards which is nice. Little things like the fact that you don't get 100% blown out by a single counterspell. New Ral likes it too. Also cheaper than X spells like By Force.
Yeah, this is the one! I have thoughts on this one. There are a few ways to pull this off, my personal favorite being Zedruu and infinite mana, but Barren Glory is the rare case where the destination actually matters more than the journey. If you win with this card, it hardly matters the way you made it happen, you will feel good about the win. And the flavor text tells you exactly why:
"The only perfect world is an empty world."
The "perfect win" in many games, and magic is no exception, is the victory where you have everything and your opponent has nothing. The "flawless victory" is when you've taken everything from an opponent and crushed them beneath you. Barren Glory is the exact inverse of that. Your opponents can have it all (except hopefully enchantment removal), and you have absolutely nothing, and you win anyway. That's an even better perfect. I highly recommend this card, it is a transcendent experience to win with.

Nah, I'll leave that to you, I'll play good cards like cheap mana rocks.
Anyway, Barren Glory...if your playgroup doesn't allow The Cheese Stands Alone, I don't want to know your playgroup.

Iirc, it actually saw play in Vintage. Turns out blowing up three of your opponents moxen is a pretty sweet deal. Who knew?
Big fan of By Force. Way better than Shatterstorm for it's scaled malleability.
