Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Weird, just stuck this into a deck for the first time - sasaya, orochi ascendant.
Needing to die is significant. You'd better have big mana plus a sac outlet (in fairness my sasaya has no sac outlets, but it has biiiiig mana so someone will have to deal with it or die). And at that point you've made sorcery-speed sphinx's rev. I guess with added flexibility of being a big fat creature for a bit, but still. More of a casually-oriented card.
I can see it being a decent mana sink if you can produce gross amounts, and the death trigger is just excellent. Altar of Dementia would be my sac outlet of choice here if it's gonna get big. Still, yeah, pretty casual. That's cool though, because Hydra is a great tribe that seems a lot of fun.
I like this card in my Marath, Will of the Wild tokens deck. The deck makes big mana and needs card draw, which this provides. I also have sac outlets.

New hydra guy will love it though.
You can also use Doubling Season and friends. It's a sort of green Braingeyser, I guess. The way we have blue, black, and red versions of the card.

I once used this in Karador as a Green Sphinx's Revelation. I was usually casting it for X = 2 to 4 mana.... but what I liked was being able to do this turn after turn.
I think I cut it when I decided to run Spirit of the Labyrinth.
I thought this was a great cycle. I would appreciate if they did it again with the enemy colors.
Agreed, it would be nice to have more of these. I found the cost on this one made it the least playable though. 6 mana could have been good.
The logic is, I'm guessing, "If you're in green, you can afford to pay more; and if you're using it at all, you want your opponents to have a metric ***** ton of land."

As others have mentioned, the casting cost is a huge hurdle, but I like this card in a few specific decks, most notably my Kynaios & Tiro moonfolk lands deck.
I actually won a game with it at my LGS a couple of weeks ago. I got K&T out on turn 4 and kept it all game, with most of the other players opting to play additional lands at most of the K&T triggers and the opposing Momir player copied K&T at one point for even more lands hitting the battlefield. About 5 minutes before the end of the round the turn came back to me and I gleefully windmill slammed Treacherous Terrain and copied it 3 times with the Uyo, Silent Prophet that had been ignored by the table for several rounds. I don't foresee getting to do that again any time soon.
She's cool, but without evasion she mostly seems like a harder way to chainer, dementia master or geth, lord of the vault. Like quite a few others, she's sort of hurt by commander damage in a weird way - because she kills people in a couple hits, it diminishes the utility of her auxiliary effect. Like the unspeakable and most of the planar/invasion dragons. By the time you've really gone off with reanimation or whatever, you'll probably voltroned most of the table to death. Except at least those guys have evasion, so you don't need to commit as hard to the voltron plan as with ink-eyes.
The animal people in kamigawa always looked...weird...to me. I'll leave it at that.
I'm not sure if I'd be thrilled or ashamed. Maybe if they can just not have human secondary sexual characteristics? That'd be great, thanks. Lookin' at you, kitsune diviner, ya weirdo.

Well, it does for Wall of Razors.

I always liked this card. Never played it outside Rosheen Hydras, but I always liked it.
