I mean, I would play it in Karlov of the Ghost Council..
Unfortunately, this is not very impactful in EDH. There are other lands that can gain more life and offer more utility.
I didn't even think of it when building my Karlov deck. It wouldn't be bad, I suppose, but so far I haven't missed it.
I suppose it's okay if unexciting in a colorless deck.
Pretty much anywhere else, I can't imagine running it.
I don't think it is an auto-include in Karlov. It doesn't help you cast Karlov or use his ability. Sometimes, you will only get a few lands in play and it can really hurt to have this over Scoured Barrens.
Yeah, more I have thought about it, while it could be situationally good in Karlov, I really want to play Karlov as early and as often as possible. Ideally, turn 1 I cast something like Soul Warden that provides life gain, turn 2 cast Karlov. As such, my count of lands that produce colorless mana is very low for this deck. Scoured Barrens makes the cut, even though it is not an ideal turn 1-2 land drop, but I have enough other sources of lifegain that I still don't think I'm going to go with the Fountain.

I ran this in my tuned Karlov deck. Rarely will you get stuck with this as your first 2 lands. Karlov is a huge glass cannon, you want to be able to pump him as quickly and efficiently as possible. Utility lands aren’t really needed in a build like that, so slotting in something like this is pretty easy. Swinging with a 10/10 on turn 3 far outweighs anybdraw back of colorless sources that help you achieve that state.
I'd probably play this over refuges, definitely over Kabira Crossroads, but after posts. Regardless, it's just for lifegain decks; I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trade a basic for it in any other deck. But still, in Oloro, it's a land that cantrips. You can also use it to pay for Searing Meditation in Licia, or to reduce Licia's cost by 2 and then pay 1 of the remainder when you tap it.
Also, our database lists it as a basic land why?

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I guess this might be playable in a deck focused on being able to tap/untap stuff, but even there I suspect there would be more than enough better cards to choose from.

If you are playing that many enchantments, I think you go for Ancestral Mask or Ethereal Armor. It is hard to play a lot of enchantments and have cards that care about enchantments and then play a random equipment.

I hate this card.
I play it along with those other two cards in Krond and along with the Armor in Geist. Redundancy is good sometimes.
'Cuz sometimes there's a hat... I won't say a good hat, 'cuz what's a good hat? But sometimes, there's a hat; And I'm talking about the Helm of the Gods, here; Sometimes there's a hat, uhh, it's 'the hat,' for it's time and place. It fits right in there. And that's Helm of the Gods. In monogreen stompy. And even if it's a crappy hat, and the Helm was most certainly that; quite possibly the crappiest in Theros block, which would put it high in the runnin' for crappiest in the game, but sometimes, there's a hat... sometimes, there's a hat... uhh, lost my train of thought here.
IMO, this is not as bad as it's made out to be, here.
Obviously the aggressive cast and equip cost are countered by the need for a board investment. That doesn't make it worthless, and it's fairly possible for it to have some serious bonuses even without comboing with Enchanted Evening.
I would strongly consider playing this in Estrid, Heliod, and realistically any other Enchantress deck.
If you're bending over backwards on an enchantment theme, you don't wanna have artefacts that don't do mor than just pump. you really need to have a reason to run it (i can understand say for protection/hexproof/some other utility that might be hard to come by otherwise).

Yeah, I seriously do not get the hate this card is getting. Would it work better with an enchantress/aura build if it was itself an aura or enchantment? Sure. On the other hand, this gives you something else you can tutor for to good effect in some of those builds. Bant enchantress is a thing, and blue brings some good artifact tutors to the game.
I have seen this do well in some Sram builds. It has helped push Krond and Geist of St. Traft into one-shot kill territory many times in my own decks. It's a narrow card, and not optimal, but narrow and not optimal =/= bad.
It's inferior Ethereal Armor redundancy. It and the Armor are highly aggressive in theory yet pull away from being something usable by aggro by requiring enchantments, and lots of them, making them oriented towards some kind of aggro-control - of course, the way around this is to spam enchantment creature tokens.
How does Sram work? Does he run too much cheap equipment (in place of auras) to get a boost from this?
It depends on the build. My Sram deck includes a mix of auras and equipment. I don't run Helm in that deck, mostly because utilizing both equipment and auras lets me pick from the cream of the crop for both and the Helm just doesn't make the cut there. I haven't ever seen a full-out enchantress Sram deck, but if anyone has one, this would probably be fine in there.

On phasing:
You don't want to depend on an opponent's creature living, but it's kind of neat card draw if you can Twiddle things aaround.
Although I think I'd prefer the new Verity Circle.

Both are certainly more lulzy freeing opponents' creatures, or having a Shoving Match, or a spirited debate.

Very narrow card, but acceptable in its niche.

good budget option though probably (not that ethereal armor is a pricey card). i'm sure its possible to make awesome. Maybe in some sort of retromancer-cephalid illusionist + selfless squire-living death or laboratory maniac? really stretching it i suppose.

Sounds silver-border. Personally, I want a silver-border card that hits all cards with the Æ. Maybe called Æternal Rest or something.
Anyway, besides Ancestral Mask and Ethereal Armor, there's Auramancer's Guise
@void_nothing: Lightning Greaves, Umbral Mantle, Shuko and Puresteel Paladin also make Crackdown Construct dumb. Do you want an encore? Also, Seeker of Skybreak.
