I don't think I knew this card existed. Obviously goes in Kithkin tribal, solid synergy with Order of Whiteclay, but it could be used with other things. Kithkin always make my mind go to Mirrorweave, and since this card bizarrely triggers proportional to all counters on it rather than just +1/+1 counters, the correct usage is obviously to Mirrorweave your cumulative upkeep creatures before deciding not to pay for their upkeep trigger.
Oh hey look a tribal card..for a tribe that we will likely never see support for again, and people wondered why I was against Pirates and Dinos being their own tribes instead of being Rogues/Beasts

Thats pretty cynical dont you thin? Niche tribes like kithkin don't necessarily fit every plane's aesthetic. Lorwynn wasn't their first home and it probably wont be their last. And hell if it is I don't think dinosaurs and pirates will go that route as they're way more popular.

Lorwynn was the first Kithkins I am aware of, and when they "returned" to the plane in Origins we didn't get a single one, it may be cynical but it is true. If it isn't a tribe called "Dragons" "Goblins" "Elves" or "Zombies" it is likely going to get left to languish for the vast Majority of the time.
Look at Dwarves, who didn't get an actual Lord Until Kaladesh.

Kithkin date back to Legends and 4th edition. They were also in Timespiral amongst the rebel cards.
Yes. There are iconic tribes for each color. There's a reason for that Angels, Dragons, Demons, and to a lesser extent Sphinxes and Hydras are the most resonant fantasy monsters. Same goes for Elves, Goblins, Zombies(sometimes Vampires), and Merfolk. So yes, most of the times those are the ones that are going to show up the most. It's what the largest portion of the people want. Like I said; Kithkin are a more niche tribe that mostly appeals to the fan base of hobbits(the race not the book). They may show up again in the future when a plane suits them more than some others. They may not. They may just not be popular enough to justify not including other types.
Besides if not Kithkin what would their type be? Small Human?

Yes there are Iconic Tribes for each color, which is why instead of every time someone gets it into their skull to do a tribal set, instead of doing these Narrow Types they should have them be a bit less specific. Naga can be snakes or snake naga instead of just Naga, Pirates and Ninjas can be Rogues, Dinosaurs can be Beasts.
Kithkin could have easily been Dwarves and supported dwarf tribal, because if this
can be a Goblin, a Kithkin is just freaking fine as a Dwarf.
Edit : And note, it is something that has worked wonderfully for Leonin.
Repeated bounce is known to be a good thing, and this is probably bouncing any creature you want: preventing blocks, slowing board developments, or reusing etb's for yourself. Maybe use it to protect your "whenever this creature attacks" guys, Like Narset. It's almost like they're from the same place.

Are any Jeskai-themed cards (from Khans block) used in EDH besides the legends?
I've never seen anyone else use it, but Flying Crane Technique has served me very well in Shen Yu. It's a Prowess/aggro deck, so I run more creatures than I usually see in Shen Yu, and a decent number have prowess. Flying Crane Technique closes out games, it usually boosts a few prowess creatures and then giving everything evasion and double strike is nothing to be written off. Jeskai Ascendancy is also good there, and I could see it being good elsewhere. Untapping and pumping your dudes and drawing you cards? That's solid.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

I love versatile cards, always. This can be used in Taigam, Ojutai Master where combat manipulation is key. Avenger also works well with Ninja, bouncing them back for further assault.
Probably a lot more. Certainly Animar would have a lot to play here. A morph deck could also use it with manifest cards to get back cards that whiff (either noncreatures or creatures with ETB trigger, though really for any noncreature card or creature with ETB trigger you could just blink it like Astral Slide decks did).
We're getting a lot of Johnny cards recently.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
The most amazing part of this card is that they printed it a half dozen times. I think we broke the pattern of Johnny cards unless you're trying to play EDH NourishingLich with Omniscience in play.

Zedruu: "This deck is not only able to go crazy - it also needs to do so."
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
The question I always have when I see one of these cards is: how much life would a five-mana sorcery have to gain for it to be playable without doing anything else? I think for EDH you'd have to be looking at 20+.
I understand it in portal, simple cards with simple applications that teach the game. Learning that straight lifegain sucks is part of that, although as unpowered as portal generally was, gaining 8 on turn 5 after putting up a couple blockers probably helped you stabilize rather well.
In EDH its obviously unplayabe. I'd honestly be hesitant to play a 5 mana sorcery that gains 20. Beacon of Immortality exists and usually gains at least that much, at instant speed, for one more mana. Of course, it shuffles into the library, so the hypothetical sorcery is easier to recur. Such a card might even be safe for standard, Feudkiller's Verdict saw no play, and while that only gained 10 at six mana it also made a 5/5 most of the time. Feed the Clan gained 10 for 2 mana, as an instant, if you had a 4 power dude in play, and it saw no play. In EDH, you can even stick it under Scepter.
I have, occasionally, seen Predator's Rapport, because that card can gain absurd amounts of life, at instant speed and for 3 mana, in the right deck. Like when Hamletback is on your field.

I play Humble Defector
Jeskai Ascendancy for sure, monastery mentor, Soulfire Grandmaster
I've seen Mindswipe in Mizzix decks.
Sage-Eye Avengers was a powerful limited card. I can see it being in a prowess-themed deck.
8.RG Green Devotion Ramp/Combo 9.UR Draw Triggers 10.WUR Group stalling 11.WUR Voltron Spellslinger 12.WB Sacrificial Shenanigans
13.BR Creatureless Panharmonicon 14.BR Pingers and Eldrazi 15.URG Untapped Cascading
16.Reyhan, last of the Abzan's WUBG +1/+1 Counter Craziness 17.WUBRG Dragons aka Why did I make this?
Building: The Gitrog Monster lands, Glissa the Traitor stax, Muldrotha, the Gravetide Planeswalker Combo, Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix + Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa Clues, and Tribal Scarecrow Planeswalkers
Jeskai Ascendancy is one of my favorite cards period. I recently started playing Sage's Reverie once I moved my Narset deck to a Voltron strategy.
I love versatile cards, always. This can be used in Taigam, Ojutai Master where combat manipulation is key. Avenger also works well with Ninja, bouncing them back for further assault.
I've seen Soulfire Grandmaster used in spellslinger, but yeah, compare to other four Jeskai is rare.
I think Mindswipe is a Temur themed card, base on the art depicting a Temur shaman.
Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest WUR Voltron Control
Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun WU Unblockable Mirror Trickery
Ra's al Ghul (Sidar Kondo) and Face-Down Ninjas
Brudiclad, Token Engineer

Rona, Disciple of Gix
Tiana the Auror
Hallar
Ulrich the Politician
Zur the Rebel
Scorpion, Locust, Scarab, Egyptian Gods
O-Kagachi, Mathas, Mairsil

We're getting a lot of Johnny cards recently.
On phasing:
Every card is a Johnny card if you want it to be.
What about Timmy and Spike?
Dragons of Legend, Lead by Scion of the UR-Dragon
The Gitrog Monster
Gonti, Lord of Luxury
Shogun Saskia
Hive World

Most cards could be Timmy or Spike, but you need the right Timmy, and you probably need a Johnny to make most cards spike.

For that matter, so do Dosan's Oldest Chant and Sylvan Bounty, and those cards aren't even very good.
