MTG Salvation

So, I have been cooking a creatureless Mogis, God of Slaughter deck for a while.

The deck's primary goal is to assemble Tainted Aether + Burning Sands + Night of Souls' Betrayal, then proceed to give my opponents creatures. (redundancy with Curse of Death's Hold, Spreading Plague, etc)

I noticed this contraption works really well with Panharmonicon, and made this thread looking at options to find additional synergy: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/777928-panharmonicon-for-opponents-creatures.

Right now, I have 4 ways to give my opponents creatures: Acorn Catapult, Forbidden Orchard, indomitable creativity, and Genesis Chamber. I want to pick up a Dowsing Dagger.

I am looking for more options, but I do not want to trigger my own enchantments, so I do not want to get creatures. That means Hunted Horror and Hunted Dragon are not cards I want to play. Neither is Akroan Horse, Rite of the Raging Storm, Goblin Spymaster and tempt with Vengeance.... Unless someone has an amazing idea to keep these from hurting me!

The only cards I have found that could work are Tombstone Stairwell, Sarkhan the Mad, Descent of the Dragons, and Curse of Shallow Graves (cursing myself). The tokens are bigger than 1/1, which means they survive the Night of Souls Betrayal, but they still trigger Tainted Aether and wreak havoc if I control Panharmonicon. I am looking to get these cards to test them out.

I am also considering Endless Whispers, but it can backfire very easily. I would have to make myself hexproof first (Orbs of Warding).


Obviously, a huge limitation is that I am only playing black and red. I need these two colours, and I want my general to be a non-creature so I don't trigger my Tainted Aether with it. I would consider adding other colours if there was enough incentive. But without having an indestructible commander that survives wraths and doesn't trigger Tainted Aether when I cast him (usually I cast him before getting 7 devotion), the deck would lose a lot.
So far, green is my biggest temptation as I would get Primal Vigor, Beast Within and Dual Nature.
Reality Shift/Pongify/Rapid Hybridization would be okay in blue. Polymorph effects too if they can target my opponents. Curse of the Swine.
Crib Swap and Afterlife can be okay as well. March of Souls would be very good.

Are there any other options for giving opponents creatures that fit my criteria (that I do not get any creatures from the card)? I'll consider cards in any colour, but preferably I want to stay Rakdos. And the creatures do not have to be tokens!
Or, suggest to me another commander that could give me more colours and has some synergy!

I want to try out Lord Windgrace as a non-creature commander for this deck. He can help me dig a bit too, which is nice.

So now, I am looking for effects that Green gives me to give creatures to my opponents. Dual Nature, Pharika, God of Affliction, and Beast Within are some examples.

Regarding Forbidden Orchard, Deserted Temple and Expedition Map.

I think Twilight's Call and the other versions of that might do something you want?

You can also run transmute spells for 2, 4, and 5 to find the other pieces you listed earlier if you feel like you need extra tutors.

unfortunately the absolute god of this effect, phelddagrif, is exactly in not-your-colors (and as a commander, exactly in not-the-colors of pretty much any of the creature punish cards). Could work it into a 5-color deck though.

Death by Dragons comes to mind.

I know you said no creatures for yourself but Varchild's War-Riders could be worth it. Other than that, no ideas beyond what was mentoned already.

Aether Flash might also work for your deck.

I think I'm going to pick up Aether Flash, just so I can make Tombstone Stairwell better. Varchild's War-Riders is really interesting. I will keep it in mind if I ever find a way to play creatures without getting punished.

EDIT! Divergent Transformations. Wild Evocation could work but could also blow up in your face.

No one has suggested the Hunted cycle?
In mogis you can only play 2 but

I think you got the only ones available unless you want to give yourself creatures. My only advice at that point is to run some copy effects like Vesuva, Thespian's Stage, and Mirage Mirror to copy your Forbidden Orchard.

I guess chaos warp is already in your deck as an answer, it might happen that permanent is a creature.

Then we have dark salvation to give a bunch of zombies to someone.

While I don't think Endbringer's Revel and Oath of Ghouls will be good for your plan, but it will make sure that your opponents will have creatures to cast.

I see the possibility to use Kormus Bell + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in your build to make lands creatures, but that would sadly also hurt yourself. :/

Sarkhan the Mad's -2 can do something similar, although giving opponents 5/5 dragons doesn't seem great.

Well, Lifeline would work if not all creatures die at the same time (note that the oracle version doesnt use your graveyard)

So, my deck has been a blast, though it lacks redundancy for a lot of pieces. I am thinking of switching Mogis for Lord Windgrace. It draws cards, and gives me a few more effects for giving tokens to opponents.

Also, Xantcha, Sleeper Agent is going in the deck. That is the only recent update.

I would greatly appreciate your wealth of knowledge on this! It is too difficult to identify all of the cards through Gatherer searches.

A card you might find interesting is Portcullis. The creatures enter the battlefield before Portcullis exiled them, thus trigering your enchantments. If an opponent (or you) gets rid of Portcullis, it all comes back for a second go...
