So since my local store was selling the oversized Ur-dragon cards for like 50c each so I decided to pick one up and make my first five-color deck. I kinda want it to be budget though, so an almost-entirely basic Mana base sounds like a unique approach that might have a few options that decks that end up with 50% or more of their lands being nonbasic might miss.
Stuff like Ruination sounds good, but Global Ruin is probably a little too "MLD-like" for my tastes.
Of course, Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse are popular for digging out the basics you need. As mentioned, green ramp is also classic, and it works. Harrow is nice, and decent value. Shout out to Farhaven Elf too.
Celestial Dawn is only a buck and it is getting a rule reversal next week. It will no longer just fix all you mana, but it will also make all your lands come in untapped (if you are playing budget tapped duals). It becomes a hybrid of Chromatic Lantern and Amulet of Vigor and better and worse than both in some ways. As those cards are $8-$13 bucks, this could go up as well.
A perfect addition to a budget The Ur-Dragon list.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Good catch with Draco - I knew he's a pretty good beater for cheap once you get domain, but I forgot that he also gets cheaper thanks to the commander's effect. 5 for a 9/9 flying is good enough for a straight beater I think.
non-basic land hate (ruination, Back to basics, Blood moon) (i know you said no to ruination, I don't care, run it.)
Green fetch (Any card that allows you to search for basics)
The rest you ca fill with what you want. Really, if you are playing ur-dragon, you should be running dragons and thus your deck will fall flat as one of the biggest advantages of having ur-dragon is the reduction. Furthermore, dragons has a lot of draw power, which you might be lacking right now without the proper direction.
Nah you misunderstood, Ruination is fine, but Global Ruin is probably too MLD-ey, since it will bring everybody down to 2-3 lands. I might go for it anyway, depending on how much help the deck needs.
Ruination is in for sure, Back to Basics depends on whether I have one in my stash or not or not, since I want this to be a sorta-budget list and want to limit how much money I spend on making the deck. I know for sure I don't have any blood moons or magi.
Basically my plan is to play a lot of generic good draw and removal spells like allied strategies and cabal conditioning while trying to stay away from double-color costs unless the manacost is 7+, use a lot of the Tarkir-block dragons for the 4, 5, and 6-drop slot, and run a few game-changing enchantments that I can drop off the commander's ability or just cast, like mind's dilation or grave betrayal.
Destructive Flow is a great suggestion. It's the perfect card for this situation; normally even running a few nonbasics limits the value of the card because you end up losing one or two cards, but with zero nonbasics it ends up being completely non-symmetrical.
It would not be very hard if you played a deck with high mana cost. Essentially you would be running a lot of forests with artifacts that can make greeb plus colour X<. And green ruamp spells, that find you other lands.'

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.
Don't forget sunburst. It is also a good purveyor of colored mana requirements. If you're good with ruination, I might also consider wave of vitriol. It really messes with greedy mana bases hardcore.
Previously mentioned, but I second the suggestion of Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds, since they are effectively basic lands immediately after the first turn you play them.
If you want to get spendy on anything, then fetchlands are probably the way to go. They avoid most nonbasic hate and are never going to not be useful in commander or any other format they are legal in.
At a glance of the suggested cards so far, it seems you might be headed towards a color priority that's heavily green, secondary red and the three others as sort of 'there'.

Surveyor's Scope, Sword of the Animist, Burnished Hart, Wayfarer's Bauble, Solemn Simulacrum (kinda pricey now), Fellwar Stone, any number of "mana of any color" mana rocks at 3 cmc, Howling Mine, and a select few cards from C16 with basic landcycling (Ancient Excavation, Grave Upheaval, Sylvan Reclamation, and Treacherous Terrain are all not bad)
