Your hatred for silver-bordered cards aside, what do you feel about contraptions as a mechanic?
In general I am kind of ok with most any mechanic concepts, its more of the implementations that I will nitpick on. Of all of the mechanics in magic I guess transform cards are probably my least favorite because I like to use clear sleeves for commander so it leads to more organizational needs. The flip cards have never felt all that smooth to me to be honest.
If you ask me the old flip mechanic achieved the same thing as transform but required me to have less extra crap on hand. It also really kills the feel of foils when you have to look at those ugly transform cards in your deck if you ask me.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

I totally get it. I have extreme mixed feelings with transform cards. On the one side, I love the concept because I have two-cards in one that isn't a split card or flip card; on the other side (no pun intended), it's aggravating to have to include the checklist for the transform card because most of the time I'd get a brain fart and have no clue what the card actually is. I have to look in my deck box where I keep the transform cards in completely transparent sleeves. When you have to keep track of a lot of things going on at once it's easier to see what the card you have in your hand is versus a list of cards with one of the white circles colored in. Apart from that, I totally welcome the mechanic. And I even want to try my luck at building a Grimlock, Dinobot Leader deck. Apart from having to literally transform a Transformers toy, it's an amazing card to build around without being too broken. It's also not mediocre. So it's just right. Thing is, I'm probably not gonna run any other silver-border card in it besides Grimlock, Dinobot Leader. So if I have to play in Un-Format to use it, I'm gonna be a 99 black-border deck against cards with arm-wrestling contests, Magic subgames, verbal triggers, etc. That's a bit frustrating. But, I digress.
Contraptions as a whole I really like how none of the, are wacky besides the name. Hopefully it's because they're testing the waters and eventually Contraptions will become a thing in the future. The only wacky thing about Contraptions is the counter being called "CRANK!" on the back of the cards and in the text of cards that mention it. Maybe that won't translate well in black-bordered world. Everything else about them is well-done and not convoluted. It's easy to get around and none of the 45 Contraptions are weird at all. They're as generic as it gets. The good thing about them is that they have their own deck and can only be placed on the battlefield by other effects. So that's a great take. After 25+ years there's only so much you can do mechanics-wise with the game to keep it fresh.

Dost mine eyes deceive me??? Sorry all of you completely against any kind of border that isn't white or black, but the RC has spoken. They do ban some of the silver-bordered cards and suggest against using others altogether. They also suggest that whatever they didn't ban, you use responsibly (lol). But, hopefully the new banlist come Jan. 15 doesn't ban anything that's key to the myriad of decks I have (fingers crossed they don't ban Paradox Engine) but instead ban every silver-bordered card that isn't mechanically viable in eternal (like really mechanically viable in eternal). Hopefully the contraption rule still stays, too. Who's to say contraptions won't make it in black-bordered sometime in the future? I guess the best news of all is that I can finally use some of the silver-bordered cards I'm gonna get next Friday. 'Tis the season to be jolly! Oh! Speaking of the season; they even reference Fruitcake Elemental as something to use. So let that sink in. I'm definitely gonna try and win a game by giving an opponent Phage the Untouchable with Evil Presents. Man, if I only I would've been able to get the Hascon promos from the Hasbro website... they were literally like $30 .
Now all that's left is for Gatherer to be updated in order to "fix" the previous silver-bordered cards so that they have correct oracle rewording. Hopefully the update also includes the Happy Holidays promos and the Hascon promos.

Sweet, maybe I should reassemble Zada for a game since Mons's Goblin Waiters is legal (even though my playgroup allowed it before).
Yup! Although personally I'm going to try and avoid cards that don't use integers in them.
I'm gonna probably try and build a penta-colored Dr. Julius Jumblemorph via General Tazri. I just cast General Tazri and when it enters the battlefield I search for Dr. Julius Jumblemorph since it's technically an ally . That way I can run all host creatures and creatures with augment. I'm gonna probably do some hijinxes with them like sacrificing, reanimating, etc. in order to mix and match them during a game. I'm going to include Grusilda, Monster Masher also for that very same reason. So that's a project I'm gonna try and put together - at least on Cockatrice.
What I really want to build is a Grusilda, Monster Masher reanimator as well as a Grimlock, Dinobot Leader "tribal" (the tribes being dinosaur, vehicles, and DFC's). Another idea I have is Akiri, Line-Slinger + Thrasios, Triton Hero at the helm of a contraptions matters deck. I started Grusilda and Grimlock before unbanning so hopefully they stay as legal after the Jan. 15 ban update.
As for adding silver-bordered cards to decks I already have (at least temporarily until Jan. 15), here're some ideas:

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I am briefly locking this thread to shift discussion of the fact that the RC unbanned silver boardered to this thread. The reason I am doing this is because this thread is about how / if they could achieve it and so transitioning this thread to talk about the action of it so far into discussion makes for somewhat of a poor read for those new to the discussion.
I will try to remember to unlock this thread after the unban event ends assuming I can remember (otherwise feel free to PM me).
