did you realise, by the way, that there is a correlation between the number of times players shuffle their decks and the overall strength/power of the deck? and that unexpectedly absent can function as a WW tuck spell, if you cast it in response to a fetch land or some other tutor effect?
yep, costs less than all the other 4 on that list, AND is solid removal. my 5c edh control is basically silver bullets all the way through, and unexpectedly absent has been an all-star.
for those who don't see how good oblation is, it's all good, no worries. this thread is there to help those who want to read what other's opinions are, and it seems divided. For me, oblation is amazing, because:
1. getting/recurring stuff from your library is harder than from exile or GY.
2. instant speed
3. can target everything bar lands
4. can remove irritating cards from your side of the board AND draws you up.
5. can help an opponent dig for the answers that threaten the board (that you have no access to), at instant speed (eg storm at 15, mind's desire cast, triggers on the stack when playing mono-white)
6. gets around indestructible/regeneration
I run it in my 5c control deck, because of its versatility. its basically tonnes of silver bullets, and a couple of catch-alls, but oblation still plays a roll there. that being said, i don't use any of the aura-"turn this permanent into a forest" type effects. it just doesn't work with my deck build.
