If I don't want to cultivate a long term play group? Break necks. I might feel bad if they end up being nice, but thinking of my local game shoppers that's not a problem.
If I'm somehow out a playgroup and need one, I'd play my most competitive version of a middle of the road (especially mono-color) general. Feldon, Geth, Selvala, Tariel, etc... I also enjoy playing weird decks, but my playgroup is too competitive for anything insanely janky to consistently work. If I was playing with truly terrible people, I might find more joy in it.
The only proper thing to do is to play fun Magic.
In other words, no considerations for the group in any way (play as normal).
Pretty much the same, maybe tempo a bit my plays.
If I think about a better card fitting their decks I will ask them if they play or know a particular card but never tell them "you must play that", always suggesting, not advising.
To expand on that, I actually watched MaRo's "20 lessons for 20 years" speech. He brought Up Ulamog's Crusher and how it started as just an 8/8 for 8 mana with annihilator 2 and next to no one wanted to attack with it because the player didn't want to give opponents a reason to destroy it. So the dev team added "attacks each turn if able" to show that the players should totally attack with it. The players did and they loved it.
I'm saying this because better than telling them about a great card is SHOWING them a great card in action. I did this with my playgroup when I had a few extra copies of Predator Ooze and Bane of Bala Ged. Those two cards in two different decks that weren't mine sent ripples through the meta. My mentions of playing removal (some people were playing none) became very real because while I liked to sit with a formidable board state and watch the rest of the game, others took these difficult creatures and set them to full on aggro. Removal and pump spells appeared overnight. It was beautiful.
