At the moment I have an Oloro, the Ageless Ascetic build around a Resource Denial theme. One of the things i have realized is that I do not run many black cards and was thinking of streamlining to have Grand Arbiter Augustin IV replacing Oloro.
My main priority is to pick whichever commander would be more capable of being a resource denial deck aka which is more competitive?
1. Oloro, the Ageless Ascetic provides life gain and the 2 life per turn stacks up, however I almost never put him in play
2. Grand Arbiter Augustin IV already has a built in tax effect and makes your stuff cheaper which means I will almost always cast him. + I would finally be able to play Invoke Prejudice.
I would love to hear opinions from you all. Thanks for reading
I think you may be overvaluing the Oloro life gain, especially in a non-life gain deck. If you decide to go with him it should be for the access to black. And there may be some better esper options too like Sen Triplets. There is some discard potential that black offers for resource denial deck that you could definitely explore if you want to stay in esper. My vote would be for Arbiter though. His effect is exactly what you are looking for and having access to him as a commander every game is huge.
Augustin. There's a built-in resource denial theme, while Oloro just adds taxes to keep your life total up for reasons.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
