Considering all factors together (art, flavor, power, fun, etc.), what are your five favorite cards in the format?
Here are mine.
Artifacts
1. Rings of Brighthearth: So many synergies and combos!
2. Nevinyrral's Disk: Classic sweeper that reward patience with a low overall mana cost.
3. Pyromancer's Goggles: Copy a spell once per turn or more? Sign me up! Cute flavor text.
4. Winter Orb: New flavor text captures how this card feels at the table.
5. Akroma's Memorial: Fits the over-the-top spirit the RC intends. Turns chumpable fatties into gaming-ending threats.
Creatures
1. Seedborn Muse: This card dramatically enhances activated abilities, instants, and so on. So flexible and powerful.
2. Priest of Titania: Gorgeous Rebecca art plus impressive mana acceleration that benefits from multiplayer environment.
3. Mangara of Corondor: Iconic character, efficient removal that rewards shenanigans.
4. Elvish Piper: Again I'm a sucker for that Guay art. Excels for dropping fatties and circumventing mana denial.
5. Vizier of Tumbling Sands: Superlative versatility thanks to cycling ability. Combos easily.
Enchantments
1. Unfulfilled Desires: My signature card. Quality looting engine, just watch your life total. Exquisite art and flavor.
2. Squandered Resources: Extremely powerful mana production, but only with proper support. Exceptional flavor. Be careful with this card!
3. Enchanted Evening: Majestic art/flavor with so much combo/synergy potential.
4. Sylvan Library: Can't go wrong with this funky green enchantment that lets you pay life for cards. Great art, creepy artist.
5. Carpet of Flowers: Situational mana acceleration, but often absurd. Lovely Guay art.
Instants
1. Early Harvest: Offers tons of a mana at an effect cost, but only if you build around it. "Love Song of Night and Day" flavor text.
2. Reiterate: I love to Fork. This probably the best of the bunch thanks to its combo potential.
3. Mana Drain: I don't have a copy (yet?), but I do play against it from time to time. So iconic and powerful.
4. Path to Exile: Stunning Rebecca Guay art on a stable removal spell.
5. Mindbreak Trap: The perfect way to wreck plans, whether storm nonsense or a big uncounterable spell. Fantastic flavor text.
Lands
1. Serra's Sanctum: Big mana, majestic art and flavor. Must build around.
2. Phyrexian Tower: Another card I don't own (yet), but such an useful effect dripping with Phyrexian flavor.
3. Minamo, School at Water's Edge: Fabulous with any general that taps. Enables all sorts of tricks.
4. Thawing Glaciers: Durdlely card advantage with many synergies. High Tide Extended nostalgia.
5. Cabal Coffers: Big mana that makes you feel like a supervillain.
Sorceries
1. Planar Birth: Card advantage and ramp that imposes specific deckbuilding requirements. Transcendent art and flavor.
2. Replenish: Efficiency and Urza's/Masques Standard nostalgia.
3. Walk the Aeons: Extra-turn effects frequently end games. This one has quality art plus a potent ability with a high cost.
4. Seasons Past: Amazing value plus combo nonsense as desired.
5. Ruination: For when you feel like being mean. Flavor text reminds us of our lot in life. Can't just throw in any deck.
Artifacts
1. Fellwar Stone: A really underrated rock, I like it in most of my decks.
2. Birthing Pod: My old favorite card from modern until it was banned, this card is still incredibly powerful in EDH as a repeatable tutor source.
3. Sword of Feast and Famine: Very relevant protections, and two incredibly powerful triggers. I love this in most of my decks.
4. Oblivion Stone: My favorite artifact-based board wipe, and I think the masterpiece art is gorgeous.
5. Mirage Mirror: Yup, a new card is quickly becoming one of my favorite artifacts. It is extremely powerful in playtesting!
Creatures
1. Spike Weaver: A really strong, repeatable effect, and can be reset with blinking effects. Often overlooked!
2. Angel of Serenity: I really like how versatile this creature is - a threat, recusion, and removal all packed into one!
3. Kamahl, Fist of Krosa: This is an incredibly powerful card in a lot of decks, and it packs in protection from sweepers to go along with wanting you to over-commit to the board. I also really like the flavor text (I also really like his other flavor text)
4. Atog: One of my favorite creatures of all time, also my avatar. I liked it so much I tried to build a deck featuring it, located here.
5. Geist of Saint Traft: Art so beautiful that I made a Duel Commander deck using her at the helm.
6. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord: Gorgeous art, even more so in foil.
Enchantments
1. Rhystic Study: I know some people hate to play against this card, but it is so powerful and often overlooked by opponents who have not played against it before.
2. Aura Shards: This card is incredible - and as much as I love to play it, I hate playing against it even more.
3. Dictate of Erebos: I really like Grave Pact, and this is even better.
4. Sylvan Library: An incredible staple, and an amazingly powerful effect.
5. Doubling Season: I like this card because it inspires so many people to build around it. It can go into so many different decks, and is incredibly powerful in every situation I've seen it cast.
Instants
1. Arcane Denial: My favorite counterspell. As a bonus, it takes away some of the feel-bads that you hand out using counter magic in that you give your opponent a few replacement cards.
2. Insidious Dreams: I think this tutor is very underrated.
3. Krosan Grip: The split second feature of this card makes it feel so powerful.
4. Disallow: I really enjoy Stifle effects, and this is arguably the best of them.
5. Crop Rotation: Back in the day, I used to play this fairly in constructed magic. What was I thinking? I love flashing in a land that has a relevant ability in response to what my opponent is doing, like Crop Rotationing in a Bojuka Bog in response to an opponent's Living Death.
Lands
1. Dust Bowl: An old favorite - land destruction that won't make your opponents angry.
2. Volrath's Stronghold: Staple an incredibly powerful ability onto a land that can tap for mana, I love it!
3. Bojuka Bog: With graveyard shenanigans so prevalent in EDH, I think this card is incredibly powerful.
4. Dakmor Salvage: I never really played with dredge, so when I built The Gitrog Monster and used Dakmor Salvage, I quickly understood how powerful the mechanic can be.
5. Glacial Chasm: I used these back in Ice Age, and I didn't realize how powerful this effect is. Now I do, and typically my opponents do not have a way to get rid of this.
Planeswalkers
-meh- (added a 6th sorcery and a 6th creature instead of listing walkers)
Sorceries
1. Austere Command: My favorite board wipe.
2. Living Death: My favorite art (edit: the From the Vault: Annihilation is not appearing correctly), and an incredibly powerful card too.
3. Wheel of Fortune: I love the art, and I really love the effect.
4. Rite of Replication: This is the card that got me into EDH. A friend gave me one in the hopes of convincing me to put together an EDH deck - it worked!
5. Doomsday: I really enjoy the all-or-nothing feel of this card. It typically either wins soon after it resolves, or the player is dead after it resolves. Either way, neat card, and I really enjoy theorycrafting about possible Doomsday piles!
6. Life from the Loam: Beautiful art, powerful card, I love to play this card!
Sorcery: Eternal Dominion - the challenge is to see how many times you can copy it while it's on the stack
Planeswalker: Venser, the Sojourner - always happy to see this card in hand, an amazing + ability (+2 no less!) with a useful - and a reachable yet insane ultimate make this one of the most useful walkers in the format.
Artifacts
1. Vedalken Orrery: Your turn? My turn!
2. Thousand-Year Elixir: It may not give haste, per say, but in those decks where you play this it might as well be.
3. Commander's Sphere: Clever take on mana rocks, being able to cantrip it after making mana is nice.
4. Wayfarer's Bauble: Near-staple for me in all non-green decks. Even in the occasional green one.
5. Akroma's Memorial: Fits the over-the-top spirit the RC intends. Turns chumpable fatties into gaming-ending threats.
Instants
1. Quicken: Your turn? My turn!
2. Reiterate: What's more fun than two Expropriates?
3. Refuse // Cooperate: Especially fun when dealing with massive X spells.
4. Beast Within: Whatever you play, I'll nuke it. Enjoy your 3/3.
5. Mystical Teachings: Underrated card due to its cost but oh so good.
Planeswalkers
1. Garruk Wildspeaker: Untapping a Cradle and Nykthos is totally fair, right?
2. Daretti, Scrap Savant: Great red drawpower and recursion, so much fun. Should rebuild that deck...
3. Garruk, Primal Hunter: Draw a pile of cards. Clean and simple.
4. Yeah I rarely play PW's in EDH.
Sorceries
1. Dragonstorm: I mean, come on. Dragons. A pile of them. Apply to face. Any questions?
2. Rise of the Dark Realms: Can you tell I like big haymakers to end my games with?
3. Expropriate: Speaking of big game-ending haymakers, here's another one that tends to spell GG.
4. Genesis Wave: ...do I even need to type up something about this?
5. Toxic Deluge: Such a great boardwipe. Costs a bit of life but eh.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
As you would expect, I adore Holistic Wisdom's art. Sadly, I didn't find it effective in the format when I tried running it years ago. How do you use the card?
I've toyed around with decks in TappedOut with cycling lands and Rings of Brighthearth where it seems pretty good, but haven't actually built those.

I've had the most success with it in spellslinger decks. Ditching ramp spells or small filtering effects to reuse haymakers does some damage. It's a little more of a toss up in creature lists, but I'm still not too sad to ditch a mana dork for something higher impact late game. It is very much a late game card and a little bit of a pet card, so I cut it some slack when it's bad.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
Artifacts: Chromatic Lantern - a must in most multi-colored decks for me Staff of Nin - personal Howling Mine + pinging? seems good Leonin Sun Standard - in any deck that has white + creatures, this is a sweet finisher Mimic Vat - just absurd in wrath.format - I still see decks with tons of sac + reanimation that don't run this, which is crazy Proteus Staff - before the tuck rule, this was a monster. A bit less busted now, but still very versatile (and bonkers in my steal everything deck)
Honorable mention: Medallions (Emerald Medallion et al) - I don't build mono without them
Creatures: Ixidron - so brutal in the right circumstances Magus of the Library - 6-7 cards later.. Descendant of Soramaro - vastly underrated card, especially given how many cards I typically have in my hand in my blue decks Reassembling Skeleton - mythic uncommon in most cases I've played it Soul Sculptor - weird effect continually catches people off guard
Enchantments: Telepathy - insanely underplayed card, the information advantage is absurd Abundance - smooths out your draws beautifully Polluted Bonds - more fun than impactful, but pretty good in a typical 4-player game Hall of Gemstone - making the majority of opponents downshift a gear or two is pretty sweet, without the stigma of land destruction Reconnaissance - has to go down as one of the silliest effects possible in any deck interested in lots of attacking, all for one mana
Bonus for my favorite card type - Dismiss Into Dream - changes the game drastically + makes Cauldron of Souls into a monster
Enchantments Carpet of Flowers - Someone's always playing islands right. Null Profusion - Sweet unique effect (well aside from Recycle...), art, and flavor text. This card has it all. Dream Halls - Just so broken and I love the 80's fantasy movie feel of the art. Any deck I'm playing this in can usually win the game when it gets played. Bitterblossom Braid of Fire
Instants Seedtime - Blue players are always up to some shenanigans. That's ok, I have some too. Final Fortune - All or nothing baby. D. Alexander Gregory art. Visions of Beyond
Lands Mirrorpool - Art is meh to me on this one, but it's just so underrated/unused.
This does seem like an interesting thread and as soon as I saw it, I knew of the #1 choice I had overall, but I didn't immediately know the others. I think I came up with my top 5 of each type (my top 1 overall is the very first card listed):
Artifacts
1. Salvaging Station. It's just a really fun build around card. Black Lotus in edh is just so much fun.
Creatures
1. Prophet of Kruphix. We had so much fun together.
2. Notion Thief. Drawing cards is fun. Drawing everybody elses cards is even more fun.
Instants
1. Counterspell. When think what is the best card to represent MTG as a whole I think counterspell does it best. Elegant, simple and creates interesting gameplay.
Lands
1. Ravinica karoos. You can do so many shenanigans with these lands.
I'm not a highly competitive player and thus flavor and theme often play an important part in my decks and along with that budget keeps me from playing with the more expensive cards out there, so my picks tend to be affected by that.
CREATURES
1. Lone Wolf - A long time pet card of mine and just love the art of this version.
2. Scorned Villager/Moonscarred Werewolf - A flavorful piece of ramp that plays on a famous fairy tale.
3. Eternal Witness - Gets back pretty much what you need.
4. Vizier of Tumbling Sands - Getting more use out of anything just feels so nice, would have been even better if it been a Wizard.
5. Squee, Goblin Nabob - Flavor text pretty much says it all.
INSTANTS
1. Thought Scour - Nice cantrip for one Blue and a nice surprising way to deal with Top.
2. Muddle the Mixture - So much versatility in this card, it can help you tutor but also serve as a decent counter when needed.
3. Capsize - It just keeps coming back.
4. Tragic Lesson - Being to replay certain lands is not always a drawback and its a nice way to draw cards. Also it looks surprisingly good in Foil.
5. Commandeer - Turn one Commandeer Sol Ring
SORCERIES
1. Green Sun's Zenith - Turn one grab Arbor Elf or late game grab the exact creature you need.
2. Vandalblast - Simply the way to deal with (all) artifacts.
3. Kodama's Reach - Staple with iconic art.
4. Villainous Wealth - Just go off with it and you know why.
5. Vindicate - Just a nice piece of removal with interesting flavor and art to it.
ENCHANTMENTS
1. Deathreap Ritual - Creatures are going to die and thus I draw.
2. Goblin Bombardment - Endless free sacrificing, just so nice to have around in so many cases.
3. Grave Pact - Makes for interesting shenanigans and while Dictate is better I just like this art version, too bad of the white border though.
4. Doubling Season - Obviously a great build around card, also one heck of a huge target.
5. Mind's Dilation - Just makes people wary of their plays and adds an element of randomness.
ARTIFACTS
1. Inspiring Statuary - A remarkable performer in artifact heavy decks.
2. Mimic Vat - Oh the fun stuff it can do.
3. Mirage Mirror - Is quickly becoming one of my favorite cards to play, can be pretty much anything you need.
4. Blade of Selves - It's tough to make it stick but can get out of control when unanswered.
5. Mind Stone - Simple mana rock that retains some value late game as well.
LANDS
1. Kessig Wolf Run - Just remains interesting to see how many people forget this is on the board.
2. Reliquary Tower - Just great utility and good reminder of the times I cursed at forgetting to include it into a new deck.
3. Rogue's Passage - Helps getting in that final bit of damage or to push through a board stall.
4. High Market - The gain of 1 life isn't impressing but just being a generic sac outlet has proven to be quite useful to me.
5. Evolving Wilds - Fairly common and perhaps not too impressing, but love this version of it.
Cool thread. My list is heavily influenced by my current stable of Commanders (which is Daretti, Multani, Rakdos, The Gitrog Monster, and Doran) as well as my wife’s stable of Commanders that I play against a lot but built myself (Mirri the Cursed, Jenara, Zedruu, Sliver Overlord, Sygg, River Guide, Sidisi) Artifact:
1. Sword of Fire and Ice: My favorite of the swords; while other swords may do sicker things none of them let me draw a card while doing them.
2. Crystal Shard: The running theme begins - Durdling is my favorite thing in the world to do, and I will include Crystal Shard + creatures with EtB triggers in every deck regardless of how out of place they feel.
3. Karn, Silver Golem: My first Legendary card owned, my first Commander, and my favorite Lore character. His durdling infinite combo list has been revamped into a Daretti deck, but he will always have my heart. 'Nuff said.
4. Sol Ring - Stereotypical, but I do love it and my good friend gave me a Kaladesh Inventions version which is glorious to behold.
5. Wurmcoil Engine - another stereotype, and a borderline call as it is so powerful that it sometimes makes the durdling pointless. I still love it though.
Honorable Mentions, since I have two creatures here: Rings of Brighthearth for the shenanigans, Wayfarer's Bauble for quietly and thanklessly doing work and bailing me out of questionable keeps in all my commander decks, and Sculpting Steel for being everything I need it to be.
Creatures:
1. Sakura-Tribe Elder: Man do I miss damage on the stack. Block their 1/1, kill it, get a land...so good. People think I'm blue but I am actually a green mage at heart because of guys like Steve.
2. Eternal Witness: And her, of course. Nothing like the good ol' Crystal Witness gravy train for all my U/g/x commander lists, but she's a rockstar and an auto-include everywhere always.
3. The Gitrog Monster: It was love at first sight, and I love my Frog Monster EDH deck. I get to Dredge, and draw cards, and cycle, and loop stuff, and trigger landfalls, and beat face with Boneyard Wurms and the Frog Monster himself, which is all just living the dream.
4. Mulldrifter: The perfect card for all my favorite shenanigans - it gets itself into the 'yard, is great with blink and bounce, is an elemental, flies, and Draws Cards. I could not ask more of a card.
5. Doran, the Siege Tower: My longest-lived commander. The creativity at the time made him wonderful and he remains a blast to play. I've gone through dozens of Commanders in the last ~5 years, but The Big Stick endures, as he should.
Honorable Mentions: Rakdos, Lord of Riots for being a blast to play as a Commander (an evil, table-wrecking blast ), Mystic Snake for being the OG Crystal Shard super star, Drift of Phantasms for being a versatile little card that ends up just missing the cut in all my blue lists. Trinket Mage because I love toolboxes, even though I sadly am not running a Trinket package anywhere.
Enchantments:
1. Exploration: Huge fan of the Conspiracy art. I wanted this card my entire life and finally have several spread among lists.
2. Mirari's Wake: Time has passed this thing by, but I still have trouble cutting it from my G/W lists. One of the first "meta" cards I owned a playset of.
3. Phyrexian Arena: Finally has some awesome art to match its wonderful flavor and high power, this is in all my black decks. I'll gladly pay a point of life for an extra draw step, K-thx-bye.
4. Oblivion Ring: White has technically better removal options, but none as iconic as this simple, efficient spell.
5. Doubling Season: I only own the one and my wife is using it, but it tickles me.
Honorable Mentions: Gift of Immortality as an unsung hero for insurance, the entire Honden cycle for being a blast in enchantment-heavy lists (especially alongside Paradox Haze), and Curse of Predation for being an over-performer in many of green lists.
Instants:
1. Counterspell - The three most powerful words in the Magic language. For a mere two mana, I can just. Say. No.
2. Momentary Blink - See my love for Crystal Shard.
3. Wild Ricochet - Man does this thing cause issues and shenanigans.
4. Word of Seizing - HM to all Split Second cards, but this thing has wrecked so much face in Daretti that I'll never drop it.
5. Fact or Fiction - I played FNM and more serious magic in the era of "EOTFOF, YL" (that's End of Turn Fact or Fiction, You Lose for your young'ins), and this card continues to impress and distress today. A legendary card drawing spell for a reason.
Honorable Mention: Any spell with “Charm” in its name. I adore versatility, and most charms make the cut in most of my lists. Special shout-out to Azorius Charm, Abzan Charm, and Selesnya Charm which never disappoint. I am also a fan of Crop Rotation – raw tutors are meh, but toolboxes are great.
Lands:
1. Fetchlands (Flooded Strand et al) – I love the fixing, but I love the interaction with LftL, Crucible, Landfall, Brainstorm, and other effects even more. I am too poor to run off-color fetches in all my lists, but I run as many as my budget will allow and hate to run a 2+ color deck without any fetches in it.
2. Bi-cycle lands (Canyon Sloughs et al): It’s a Fetchable, Farseek-able land that fixes my mana and can cycle for Dredge/LftL goodness. It’s like a Christmas present to me! I pray we get enemy colored versions soon.
3. Ravnica Karoos (Golgari Rot-farm et al): I know these are soft to Land Destruction but I love them anyways for the landfall and untap shenanigans. They tend to make the cut in almost all my 2 and 3-color decks since I’m not rich.
4. High Market: No effect is more powerful than “Sacrifice a Creature” at instant speed. I run this more than I probably should.
5. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth: Come for the fixing and Cabal Coffers engines, stay for the Swampwalk abuse :evil2:. I would run it in all black decks forever if I owned more than a playset. As it stands all four copies are currently in use.
Honorable Mention: Dakmor Salvage for enabling the durdling, and all lands that can make obscene amounts of mana (Cabal Coffers, Gaea’s Cradle, Serra’s Sanctum, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx) for helping me feel like a Super Villain. Glacial Chasm for being a card that I bought a few copies of on a lark, finally threw into a deck, and fell in total love with. Need more of that bad boy for sure.
Planeswalkers:
1. Garruk Wildspeaker: You never forget your first, right? Garruk is a workhorse that does it all – ramp mana alongside broken lands and karoos, make tokens to exploit, or Overrun once you’ve gone wide. All my copies are in use.
2. Karn Liberated: As if there could be any doubt. One of the few mythics that made me drop and buy a box, and I was lucky enough to pull him. He’s what helped get me into EDH.
3. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: I love giant Colorless monster-walkers.
4. Daretti, Scrap Savant: As my nastiest Commander, he hits all my boxes – can’t beat a Planeswalker that +2s to draw me TWO cards!!! (some terms and conditions apply).
5. Venser, the Sojourner: Have I mentioned my love for durdling really hard?
Honorable Mentions: Jace, the Mind Sculptor let’s me draw THREE cards, but draws a bit too much agro to make the list. Ajani, Caller of the Pride because while there are more powerful things to do with a Doubling Season (Jace, Tamiyo, Ugin, Venser), there aren’t more fun things than casually paying three mana to create 80+ cats. Vraska the Unseen because she’s really fun and I love the character, even though I have 5 copies and I think 0 or 1 in use – she tends to just miss the cut.
Sorcery:
1. Harmonize: My favorite color gets to Concentrate! I'm in.
2. Life from the Loam: "During my upkeep I will sacrifice this land, draw a card, skip draw to dredge LftL, draw phase, cast LftL main phase, get lands back, play two lands, cycle a land, dredge back LftL, get lands back..." In short-form, that's just "Durdle durdle durdle" but I love it.
3. Wrath of God: The classic, with the newer Kev Walker art, is iconic for a reason.
4. Austere Command: The big brother, a nasty piece of work. Hated playing against it as Karn, hate leaving it out of all my current White lists. Would that I owned more than three.
5. Kodama's Reach: Kamigawa was berry berry good to my color. This is like Divination but green and awesome. Never leave home without it.
Honorable Mentions: Love most ramp spells, with Harrow deserving a special shout-out for being fun in Gitrog. Read the Bones is another one of those quiet utility spells that overperforms and bails me out of bad mulligan decisions all the time and it always makes the cut. I know that Mizzium Mortars and Browbeat aren’t great, and Browbeat rarely makes the cut, but my oh my do I love those two spells in all my red lists.

2. Bi-cycle lands (Canyon Sloughs et al): It’s a Fetchable, Farseek-able land that fixes my mana and can cycle for Dredge/LftL goodness. It’s like a Christmas present to me! I pray we get enemy colored versions soon.
Amen!
I get so sad/angry whenever I think about how allied pairs have four fetchable duals each while enemy pairs only have two (and one of those costs $texas).
Artifacts Paradox Engine - The more I play around with this card, the more I like it. There are just so many cool things that it enables. Mirrorworks/Minion Reflector - So much added value for artifacts or creatures with ETB abilities. Scroll Rack - Essentially doubling the size of your hand makes digging to important cards so much easier. Coalition Relic - I love that I can get two mana out of it in a pinch and that I can get whatevee colors I want. Alhammarret's Archive - More life and more cards... what's not to like?
Creatures Glen Elendra Archmage - Having a creature that can peck away for damage and stop a key spell from resolving for only 1 mana (and do it twie thatnks to Persist) makes this a nearly perfect creature for me. Sakura-Tribe Elder - Ramp that is easily recurrable and ultra-cheap Metalworker - So much mana! Venser, Shaper Savant - So much versatility Mulldrifter - I could have gone with a lot of cards in this top 5, but Mulldrifter is still one of the best creatures with an ETB ability.
Enchantments Black Market - I just love he mechanics of this card and how busted it gets once it get rolling Mana Echoes - Ditto Doubling Season - Ditto ditto Oversold Cemetery - I love recurring things Cathars' Crusade - This is just one of those cards that when used effectively it turns a deck up to 11...
Planeswalkers Jace, the Mind Sculptor - Not so unbeatable as it was in Standard, but still so much value Garruk, Primal Hunter - Green card draw is the big plus with this Garruk Karn Liberated - Can go in any deck and deal with permanent types that a particular color may have issues with. Venser, the Sojourner - Blinking permanents building up to that ultimate is awesome Daretti, Scrap Savant - I love Goblin Welder and this fits that mold perfectly
Instants Capsize - Reusable bounce can really help reign-in shenanigans Cyclonic Rift - Mass bounce REALLY reigns-in shenanigans Swords to Plowshares - Kills... creatures... dead... Mystic Confluence - Counter, bounce, and card draw... Fresh Meat - One of those cards that people just forget exists until they get blown out by it.
Sorceries Cultivate/Kodama's Reach - Rampin' and stealin' Promise of Power - A bit of a hidden gem Scrap Mastery - I really like Living Death, so Living Death for artifacts was love at first sight. Death Cloud - One of those cards that punishes people who under-commit trying to dodge a wrath-effect Treasure Cruise - Paying only 1-mana for this is so sweet...
Tribal... Bitterblossom - Tokens every turn has so many good uses. All Is Dust - For a colorless deck, this is amazing Boggart Shenanigans - Goblins love dying for a good cause, and getting an extra damage in for each Siege-Gang or Skullclamp activation really adds up. Hunting Triad - Very versatile for the cost. Rootgrapple - I used to run this all the time, but its fallen out of favor lately.
Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)
Hmm, I've actually never considered this, but I do always make room for my pet cards in the decks I make, so it shouldn't be too hard to make a list.
Here goes...
Artifacts
1. Gauntlet of Might: Just becuase I actually own a copy.
2. Jester's Cap: A favorite of mine for a long time. And it's not actually bad
3. Vedalken Orrery: Flash on things is just good.
4. Power Conduit: Oh, yeah, I love to durdle around with this and Tornado or Glacial Chasm. Add Seedborn Muse and you have yourself a party.
5. Wayfarer's Bauble: I just really like to ramp, so this goes in nearly every non-green deck I have.
Creatures
1. Morphling: Superman. Do I need to say more?
2. Spike Weaver: Havn't played with mr. Fog that long, but he quickly grew on me.
3. Peacekeeper: The amount of creatures he's stopped for me is incredible. Stale till victory
4. Erebos, God of the Dead: When he was spoiled, he immediatly became the commander of my creaturelss control deck. Never looked back.
5. Squee, Goblin Nabob: Yet another commander, but I like to build around them and Squee might be my favorite deck of all.
Enchantments
1. Invoke Prejudice: Love the art, love the effect. Also, I bought a copy when it was 10 bucks
2. Waste Not: It doesn't always do what you want it too, but I really like it anyways. It's cheap and gives you stuff when your opponents are loosing their stuff.
3. Sterling Grove: Tutor with a great effect.
4. Dictate of the Twin Gods: My best memory with this was dealing over 5 billion damage with just two creatures. Also a wincon in my Squee deck.
5. Tainted Aether: I love to lick the salty tears from my enemies eyes.
Instants
1. Constant Mists: FOOOOG.
2. Turnabout: There's just so many uses for this card, can't not love it.
3. Warping Wail: Colorless counter for Karn. Still remember the time I countered a Merciless Eviction for artifacts.
4. Tithe: Good cardadvantage and secure your landdrops.
5. Mirrorweave: This helped me dealing over 5 billion damage.
Planeswalkers - I actually don't like PW's that much and only have 8 of them, but the 5 I like best is:
1. Karn Liberated: Don't think I ever resolved his ulti, but his other two abilities does the job well. Very welcomed in my mono brown deck.
2. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: Also goes in my mono brown. This ulti I have tried, and yeah, it wins you the game
3. Koth of the Hammer: Also going for his ulti, but I like the other two abilities aswell.
4. Tezzeret the Seeker: He's a good tutor, and it's just gravy if he sticks around.
5. Elspeth, Knight-Errant: Love getting that ulti
Sorceries
1. Past in Flames: The amount of advantage this brings is insane.
2. All is Dust: One of the best sweepers.
3. Life from the Loam: So good with cyclers and ramplands.
4. Austere Command: Really versatile sweeper.
5. Ashes to Ashes: Getting rid of two creatures for good at the price of 5 life seems good to me.
Planeswalkers
1. Teferi, Temporal Archmage: Iconic character that provides either mana or cards as needed. Synergizes with tap abilities.
2. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: Merciless sweeper as it exiles. Very versatile.
3. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker: I don't yet have a copy, but it's unwise to go against Bolas.
4. Venser, the Sojourner: So many options plus a devastating ultimate.
5. Kaya, Ghost Assassin: Sweet art and flavor plus innovative design.
Sorceries

I like the love for Ash Barrens. A bit boring as it just fixes mana, but a splendid design.
Artifact: Salvaging Station- this card does so. much. work.
Creature: Sun Titan - even at 6cmc and white he's on the shortlist for best/most useful creature in EDH
Enchantment: Humility - shuts down so many strategies all by itself. incredible card.
Land: Glacial Chasm - the amount of turns this card has bought me since I started EDH is amazing
Instant: Crop Rotation - flashing in Glacial Chasm and Maze of Ith isn't done enough
Creatures
1. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir: Your turn? My turn!
2. Selvala, Heart of the Wilds: Big mana and card draw in one cheap efficient package, love it!
3. Prime Speaker Zegana: Yes I'd like to draw my deck, thank you kindly.
4. Seedborn Muse: Goes very well with a lot of cards on my top list.
5. Guttersnipe: Especially fun when there's 11 of them on your side.
Enchantments
1. Leyline of Anticipation: Your turn? My turn!
2. Swarm Intelligence: What's more fun than one Expropriate?
3. Grave Betrayal: It's fun to see people scramble to nuke this.
4. Sneak Attack: 1 mana dragons are fair, right?
5. Zendikar Resurgent: Resolving this will mean I win. Period.
Instants
Lands
1. Alchemist's Refuge: Your turn? My turn!
2. Winding Canyons: Notice a theme yet?
3. Cabal Coffers: Have ALL the mana!
4. Gaea's Cradle: Have ALL the mana! x2
5. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx: Have ALL the mana! x3
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.

I've toyed around with decks in TappedOut with cycling lands and Rings of Brighthearth where it seems pretty good, but haven't actually built those.
Artifacts:
Chromatic Lantern - a must in most multi-colored decks for me
Staff of Nin - personal Howling Mine + pinging? seems good
Leonin Sun Standard - in any deck that has white + creatures, this is a sweet finisher
Mimic Vat - just absurd in wrath.format - I still see decks with tons of sac + reanimation that don't run this, which is crazy
Proteus Staff - before the tuck rule, this was a monster. A bit less busted now, but still very versatile (and bonkers in my steal everything deck)
Honorable mention: Medallions (Emerald Medallion et al) - I don't build mono without them
Creatures:
Ixidron - so brutal in the right circumstances
Magus of the Library - 6-7 cards later..
Descendant of Soramaro - vastly underrated card, especially given how many cards I typically have in my hand in my blue decks
Reassembling Skeleton - mythic uncommon in most cases I've played it
Soul Sculptor - weird effect continually catches people off guard
Enchantments:
Telepathy - insanely underplayed card, the information advantage is absurd
Abundance - smooths out your draws beautifully
Polluted Bonds - more fun than impactful, but pretty good in a typical 4-player game
Hall of Gemstone - making the majority of opponents downshift a gear or two is pretty sweet, without the stigma of land destruction
Reconnaissance - has to go down as one of the silliest effects possible in any deck interested in lots of attacking, all for one mana
Bonus for my favorite card type - Dismiss Into Dream - changes the game drastically + makes Cauldron of Souls into a monster
Instants:
Faith's Reward - nice wrath, man
Sudden Spoiling - like an 'oh-*****' handle for Magic
Withering Boon - no one ever sees this one coming
Word of Seizing - planeswalker about to ultimate is my favorite, but plenty of good targets
Lim-Dul's Vault - premium card selection
Lands:
Thawing Glaciers - don't miss those land drops
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - fine with nothing, or busted if loaded
Mirrodin's Core - budget multicolor star
Winding Canyons - adds a dimension for decks that wouldn't usually have access
Rogue's Passage - there are decks where this is just silly
Planeswalkers:
None, really. They just tend to draw so much hate, it typically isn't worth it.
Sorceries:
Mystic Speculation - casting this 5-10 times a game is not unusual
Primal Surge - I Win!
Rise of the Dark Realms - ditto!
Meltdown - can cause some VERY hurt butts
Recurring Insight - premium draw tech
Artifacts
Mox Opal - What a lovely little gem.
Sundial of the Infinite - Don't have a deck that can take advantage of this, but it's still cool.
Helm of Possession
Unwinding Clock
Assault Suit - Strapping this on to Ruhan is a lot of fun.
Honorary Mentions: All the invention swords of.
Creatures
Kresh the Bloodbraided - Raymond Swanland art please.
Thraximundar
Dakkon Blackblade
Cromat
Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder
Bonus Ink-Treader Nephilim - I so wish this was legendary.
Enchantments
Carpet of Flowers - Someone's always playing islands right.
Null Profusion - Sweet unique effect (well aside from Recycle...), art, and flavor text. This card has it all.
Dream Halls - Just so broken and I love the 80's fantasy movie feel of the art. Any deck I'm playing this in can usually win the game when it gets played.
Bitterblossom
Braid of Fire
Instants
Seedtime - Blue players are always up to some shenanigans. That's ok, I have some too.
Final Fortune - All or nothing baby. D. Alexander Gregory art.

Planeswalkers

Enchantments

CREATURES
PLANESWALKERS
1. Garruk Wildspeaker - Always been solid utility and having a version around by Therese Nielsen isn't bad either.
2. Tezzeret the Seeker - Just great utility to have.
3. Vraska the Unseen - Scared of a 1/1?
4. Dack Fayden - It's the greatest thief of the multiverse!
5. Arlinn Kord/Arlinn, Embraced by the Moon - I love werewolves and thus its tough to keep her off my list.
INSTANTS
Artifact:
RCRDaretti: Superfriends Forever RCR
WGBDoran: Ent-mootWBG
GGGMultani: Group Bear HugGGG
GB(B/G)The Gitrog Monster: Dredgefall DurdleGB(B/G)
RGWGahiji, the Honored Group Hug MonsterRGW
UB(U/B)Yuriko, Ninja Trinket AggroUB(U/B)
WUBRGAtogatog: Assembling a OHKOWUBRG
Amen!
I get so sad/angry whenever I think about how allied pairs have four fetchable duals each while enemy pairs only have two (and one of those costs $texas).
Paradox Engine - The more I play around with this card, the more I like it.
Creatures
Glen Elendra Archmage - Having a creature that can peck away for damage and stop a key spell from resolving for only 1 mana (and do it twie thatnks to Persist) makes this a nearly perfect creature for me.
Sakura-Tribe Elder - Ramp that is easily recurrable and ultra-cheap
Metalworker - So much mana!
Venser, Shaper Savant - So much versatility
Mulldrifter - I could have gone with a lot of cards in this top 5, but Mulldrifter is still one of the best creatures with an ETB ability.
Enchantments
Black Market - I just love he mechanics of this card and how busted it gets once it get rolling
Mana Echoes - Ditto
Doubling Season - Ditto ditto
Oversold Cemetery - I love recurring things
Cathars' Crusade - This is just one of those cards that when used effectively it turns a deck up to 11...
Lands
Gaea's Cradle/Cabal Coffers - So much mana!!!!
Dust Bowl - A nice catch-all way of making sure opposing Cradles, Coffers, etc. stay off the table
High Market - The best land-based sac outlet
Ancient Tomb/Temple of the False God - Not busted mana acceleration, but good mana acceleration nonetheless.
Riptide Laboratory - There are so many good Wizards worth bouncing and replaying.
Planeswalkers
Jace, the Mind Sculptor - Not so unbeatable as it was in Standard, but still so much value
Garruk, Primal Hunter - Green card draw is the big plus with this Garruk
Karn Liberated - Can go in any deck and deal with permanent types that a particular color may have issues with.
Venser, the Sojourner - Blinking permanents building up to that ultimate is awesome
Daretti, Scrap Savant - I love Goblin Welder and this fits that mold perfectly
Instants
Capsize - Reusable bounce can really help reign-in shenanigans
Cyclonic Rift - Mass bounce REALLY reigns-in shenanigans
Swords to Plowshares - Kills... creatures... dead...
Mystic Confluence - Counter, bounce, and card draw...
Fresh Meat - One of those cards that people just forget exists until they get blown out by it.
Sorceries
Cultivate/Kodama's Reach - Rampin' and stealin'
Promise of Power - A bit of a hidden gem
Scrap Mastery - I really like Living Death, so Living Death for artifacts was love at first sight.
Death Cloud - One of those cards that punishes people who under-commit trying to dodge a wrath-effect
Treasure Cruise - Paying only 1-mana for this is so sweet...
Tribal...
Bitterblossom - Tokens every turn has so many good uses.
All Is Dust - For a colorless deck, this is amazing
Boggart Shenanigans - Goblins love dying for a good cause, and getting an extra damage in for each Siege-Gang or Skullclamp activation really adds up.
Hunting Triad - Very versatile for the cost.
Rootgrapple - I used to run this all the time, but its fallen out of favor lately.

Artifacts
Lands
1. High Market: Great effect, and goes in many of my decks. In black I prefer Phyrexian Tower.
2. Drownyard Temple: Didn't I mention Constant Mists earlier?! Well, it's also good with many other things.
3. Blinkmoth Well: When you need to shut down some orbs or just don't want opponents to draw off of your Howling Mine.
4. Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle: Staple ofr mono red control.
5. Glacial Chasm: I love to fog. This does the job best.
