I came across the card Gemstone Array, which strikes me as a great mana sink for storing excess mana. Are there any other methods of storing excess mana so that it can be used later?

Your new prescription eyeglasses don’t work. You still can’t see things my way.
Your other options require you to jump through hoops or have higher opportunity costs. I surprised more deck builders fail to utilize them. They can start charging early while you have nothing to use your mana on and late in the game they come into play untapped so that you can play your late drops on turn whereas a CIPT land like a Temple would cost you another turn.
My favorite mana storage (or as I like to call these mana machines) is Iceberg I personally put it in every blue deck I build. Another great mana storing land is Sand Silos, Dwarven Hold and that cycle.

I call them "batteries".
Enginesconvertaresourcetoanother. Batteries "charge" (in the form of counters) either as an activated ability or a triggered ability, and that "charge" is then used as a resource. The other commonly used engineering metaphors are cogs (basically cards that are the most efficient at what they do and really cheap, in terms of mana, e.g. Ornithopter), gears (have a t ability and a triggered ability that untaps them), and spouts (basically things that turn all of the above into damage to an opponent, tokens, mill, or some other win condition).
Iceberg, like Mana Bloom, shows promise with proliferate. I'm not too big on the Fallen Empires/Masques land cycle. Masques is technically better than FE, but both suck.
Never use Mana Cache. If one player has an x-cost spell or a mana sink, all your mana is used right there.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Ice Cauldron is essentially a mana storage device although it is limited to just the one spell that you exile with it. We used to use it to double up our mana to play huge Fireballs and Lava Bursts.
There is also Kyren Toy that is a chargeable artifact similar to the charge lands.
I didn’t think of this, but this is probably the most efficient way of storing mana that there is. With the removal of mana burn, there is no drawback either. Kruphix, God of Horizons and Upwelling are the other options.
