I feel like people say "infect deck" and just assume any deck with tainted strike, grafted exoskeleton and/or triumph is included though. Three cards an infect deck does not make.
Infect is a win con, and like every win con, it can be stopped.
And so easily stopped.
1.) It's a win-con that's creature based and mostly combat damage based.
2.) What's more, if you don't actually get to 10 poison counters, it doesn't even help put an opponent away. Whereas regular damage could.
Every single card that draw complaints from Infect-complainers has a non-infect counter-part that could be equally effective or stronger.
Mimeoplasm/Rafiq - You know these generals could just kill you with regular damage, right?
Triumph of the Horde - Meet Insurrection
Viral Drake/Atraxa - just be glad that the only counters they're proliferating are poison counters. How crazily inefficient is that?

I know they can withoutninfect. I know they can win with straight up damage. That is why infect is not a "go to win con. If I use buried alive in mimeoplasm, I would toss blighted agent in there. Nothing wrong with an unlockable infect. But it is it the only win con. Beat down is fun.

Indeed. I think you would be hard-pressed to find any good infect EDH deck that didnt' rely on Skittles, Blightsteel, or giving infect to creatures that don't normally have it.
That's why infect isn't really that broken though. Tainted strike is a strong card and triumph of the hordes can be good if you have a strong board state. Grafted Exoskeleton is a risky card to play and kind of expensive considering cost + equip. Blightsteel is pretty solid, but without support, it is kind of slow and can be exiled by the common artifact hate people run like return to dust. I mean we have stuff like Phage and Master of Cruelties that essentially end a player as well (yeah, they aren't indestructible, but they are considerably cheaper). I've seen Phyrexian Hydra and Putrefax tear people up with Xenagos, God of Revels and Saskia. I've used Ichor Rats in Atraxa super friends as an alternate win condition, and have seen Rhys the Redeemed running Phyrexian Swarmlord to great effect. That all being said, infect creatures are fairly inferior to their non-infect counterparts usually. Pretty sure the problem people have with infect is mostly tainted strike and triumph.
Infect at 10 is cool because of the excitement it creates. People have to pay attention to what is going on. It forces interaction. You can't sit behind wraths, you'll need some instant spot removal or other interaction. Infect can't reliably win unless everyone is durdling, so overall it enhances the experience. And there is always the next game, if things are over too quickly.

The fact that non-infect deck can abuse poison counters way more easily than dedicated infect deck should open some eyes on why many people feel that 10 poison counters isn't enough.
Not really, no. At that point it just becomes another combo-abusable mechanic, and a much less efficient one than any number of combos already existing in the format.
You have an opinion, you hold it strongly. The math shows you are wrong, though, and repeatedly insisting otherwise doesn't change the math.

The Nekusar, the Mindrazer that gets a Tainted Strike before a wheel or three
or the Borborygmos Enraged that gets a Triumph before emptying their hand or the dumb thing I did that was Borbor + Triumph of the Hordes + Arcbond + 6 Lands in Hand
Infect is more often than not a surprise and I don't see a problem with 10 because as many people have stated the cases for it are limited.
