The widely-regarded-as-competitive Zur deck does not play land destruction - it's an Ad Naus/Doomsday deck a la Moxnix's Grixis Storm. That said I don't play Zur so I'm not making a claim as to the competitiveness of LD strats in other Zur builds.
Hi there! Sorry I stumbled across this a little late, but I've just created an account because I think I can help. Depala, Pilot Exemplar is currently my main choice for MLD, which sounds ridiculous but hear me out on this because there are a couple of really valid reasons why!
1: She helps you find Dwarves. At first glance this doesn't seem like a whole lot but if your goal is land destruction it is a huge help. Check out Dwarven Miner, Dwarven Blastminer, Mine Layer, and Dwarven Driller. Basically what this strategy allows you to do is crew a big vehicle with Depala, dump mana into searching for Dwarves/Vehicles and then on Main 2 cast Armageddon. Now you hopefully have 1-2 Dwarves/Vehicles in hand and more importantly 1-2 costly cards out of your library. This will let you keep your opponent stuck at a a couple of lands with your Dwarves while also making it more likely for yourself to draw a land!
2: Vehicles are actually very, very good paired with boardwipes. As long as your vehicles aren't crewed, they aren't creatures so you can cast a Wrath of God and your cars should be safely parked in the garage when Depala returns to the battlefield. This is especially good with wipes that target both lands and creatures like Wildfire. Hazoret's Monument and Oketra's Monument will be essential, with the former helping you sift through your library and the latter re-populating the board post-wipe with new drivers for your cars. They also will both make Depala cheaper to cast from the command zone which is great because her 3 power is enough to crew a lot of the better Vehicles, and she also helps you find more Dwarves/Vehicles for after the next time you need to boardwipe.
I hope this was helpful! Feel free to leave it or take it as you will. Mine has lost two games in the 2 months since it was created (I play once a week at my LGS), so that would make the stats 3/4 win ratio.
Land destruction doesn't really seem that great in edh. I agree that there are bunch of utility lands that should get blown up I wouldn't play something stone rain to do just that. MLD spells in general are best when used as a finisher. I like using obliterate in my arcbound marchesa deck because when I resolve it it means I win. Decks that can play around mld are propaply the best( eg Narset, Meren, Marchesa etc.).
I have seen Radha be very strong in 1V1, with a slew of targeted land destruction.

You should need at least four Lightning Greaves type of effects. I run Whispersilk Cloak, Mask of Avacyn and Champion's Helm in addition to the Greaves. Mana producing artifacts are essential to almost any MLD deck.

I ran a similar engine in my old Marchesa deck. I think a Goblin Settler destroyed 11 lands in one game before it was dealt with for good.
