Anyone tried out Rishadan Footpad and Rishadan Cutpurse? Has been pretty decent in my Animar, Soul of Elements Multi-Player deck. Along with Animar's discounts they are pretty decent, but i'm considering them as potential cuts for DTK cards. Anyone using them or see value in keeping them?
Thoughts? or are they definite cuts?
Responses Do Not have to be related to Animar, I'm looking for general responses
I don't use them but a buddy of mine played a budget syg river cutthroat deck and loved them . One if the reason I never f8 my turn one land on mtgo for fear of mana crypt into sac a land unless you pay 1.
Edit: did you see the new colorless common that bounces itself? Seems good with animar
What about the two cards in a deck looking to truly optimize itself? Is it subpar? though being able to hit 3 permanents with 1 ETB effect seems pretty good
I played cutpurse in pauper EDH helmed by Mistmeadow Witch. Even in that deck, it was merely fine, never awesome. I would only play these again in a deck with both stax and blink themes; otherwise they just don't do enough.

cutpurse was part of one of my favorite combos - aluren, cloudstone curio, rishadan cutpurse. Hope you have inifinite mana online, because if you don't, RIP all y'alls boards.
Don't forget Rishadan Brigand. I have only seen them played in Pirate Tribal, but if you have a way to play them cheaply and/or trigger their ETB abilities over and over then they seem more than reasonable.
As one time effects, they are pretty mediocre. if you're using them in something like Animar or Brago where you're constantly bouncing/blinking them, there are much better things you could be using.
never seen them before, but they look pretty good.
i imagine it'd force players to spend the 1 or 2, which messes up their ability to counter/deal with your actual threats you want to land that turn.
Well, obviously key players in the epic Pirate tribal deck.
I like them, but I can quickly understand how they could get so outclassed. In EDH, ramp is so....er, rampant that the opponent either has enough mana to pay or enough excess land to sacrifice. They also are a tad expensive. BUT, I do like the idea of them, and abused in Animar or Brago could make for a really fun deck. For the OP's Animar deck, which cards are you looking to include in your deck and are there any other obvious stinkers? Because you CAN do a lot with these pirates, but their may be better combinations to work with.

Note that many people find mana denial the antithesis of fun!
That is very true. And I guess major abuses of them could be too nasty, but by themselves they are a minor effect, even if used every turn. So of course, mileage may very, but they certainly are a more interesting idea then say, blinking Avalanche Rider or Angel of Despair.
Beyond that, they're good in any deck that runs Winter Orb or other mana denial cards. You just have to have some way to pay for them. Blinking also helps.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Maybe that's the deck I should build to fight the combo decks in my meta.
