Guys, I am a MTGO classic player (I only play online). I mainly play a black deck with big nasty black creatures. I like to make players deal with creatures I have on the board instead of me reacting to them. I have made decks in all colors and have cards in all colors. I don't mind spending some more money to get cards for my commander deck.
I am totally lost when it comes to making a commander deck. I would like to make a deck for 1 vs 1 and a deck for multiplayer. Any help would be appreciated.
If you like black and big nasty creatures you can try Korlash, Heir to Blackblade you always have a big nasty creature to hit with and his foil is not expensive.
I think Mayael is a great first general for you, mostly due to your affinity for fatties. Another one you might enjoy is Doran, the Siege Tower. He lets you stay in black and you can build up a ton of high toughness creatures and still be fat. Also kills enemy aggro. I've been meaning to try to make a pseudo control/finisher deck out of Maelstrom Wanderer.
Would be a good starter deck, not very deep/room for a theme in the commander. No blue kinda sucks, too, as control in a multiplayer format is a large influence.
I suggest Teneb or Karador. Both allow for decently-sized creatures that put pressure on the opponent (Spiritmonger) and creatures that offer some powerful effects and still leave some formidable battlefield presence (Ashen Rider). The recursion that these generals offer enables a more creature-based strategy; just be sure to include the likes of Phyrexian Altar and Viscera Seer.
If you like big splashy critters Kaalia isn't a bad choice; however, beGreen is correct in that she can be a trap for new players who tend to lean too heavily on her. If you go that route, I'd suggest packing quite a bit of tutors and recursion to support your deck if she goes down.
Rakdos, Lord of Riots is another option for you, he's cheap and fast and make your big monsters come down pretty quickly. Black has plenty of decent card draw and utility, but you'll hurt on mana so pack some mana rocks in there and at least a few things that put lands on the board like Expedition Map, Burnished Hart, and Solemn Simulacrum. IF you decide on him pack in plenty of card draw as your hand will go pretty quickly, and make sure to put in Pestilence and Pyrohemia these are bombs in those big critter decks. You can usually pump 4 or 5 damage into them and kill off smaller troublesome critters and pave a path for your fatties.
If you do decide to go with Kaalia, don't put iona in your deck, she's such a d-bag card. Don't be that guy.
Welcome, to commander. Remember it's not a format that is about winning it's about fun--for everyone at the table.

No one spoke. There was no need. The threat of the Eldrazi presented a simple choice: lay down your arms and die for nothing, or hold them fast and die for something.
We can beat around the bush, but as every single person in this forum will tell you, you will change decks and make new ones and you'll most likely never be completely satisfied with you deck. So just know that whatever you decide, it will most likely change.
Black fatties aren't great in this format. The only notable one that comes to mind is Griselbrand, which is unfortunately banned. If you want to cheat out big, relevant threats early on, the answer is actually very simple: reanimator. Try either The Mimeoplasm or Sedris, the Traitor King. Both fast and powerful decks, capable of turn one Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur and the ilk. I have a Mimeoplasm decklist in my description. Check out these commanders and decide if reanimator is right for you. Research competitive decklists. PM me or reply to me on here if you want more in depth advice. I'm a competitive player and I'm happy to help.
1vs1 deck - Azusa can be pretty back breaking 1 vs 1, she puts out large creatures with alarming regularity. There's also xenagos, I've been having some success with him. Deck lists not up yet but it will be.
As for multiplayer - Azusa makes you too much of a target, something like drahna, Kalastria blood chief can be great. Mono black is pretty strong. She can get huge too which means she has to be dealt with.
Good luck
