But seriously, play sacrifice effects with this guy. He's awesome.
Everything here is accurate.
There're reasons why High Market is considered an EDH staple, and Academy Rector is one of those reasons. Market-->Rector-->Omniscience continues to be among the strongest and easiest lines of play around.
Man, I really need a copy of Rector, just because he is so amazing. Gets answers, win-conditions, and bombs. Even picks up equipment in desperate situations and attacks for damage.
Using him in my Oros deck, here's how I see it:
1) He's a rattlesnake card. It discourages people attacking you if they don't have an answer.
2) If they do have an answer, you can either recur him from your graveyard for later until you have something to interact with its ability or they wasted a Path to Exile/StP.
3) He goes well with Wrath effects. My favorite being Obliterate -> Debtor's Knell to seal the game.
4) Of course, sac outlets. Why wouldn't I run Goblin Bombardment/High Market for him?
Oh yeah, did I mention he's amazingly powerful with blue?
I run high market and miren in my Oloro lifegain deck (looking for phyrexian tower) but she always, always gets exiled in response
High Market's sacrifice is a cost to activate and cannot be responded to. I suppose you could be saying that they exile her from the grave in response to her trigger which would stop it but generally speaking most graveyard hate is permanent based so you should see that coming and just not cast her if someone is set up to graveyard hate in response.

Sac outlets are something you usually want to have around in EDH anyway, so if you are playing Academy Rector, it shouldn't be too hard to squeeze one or two more into your list to make Rector a little more effective. If you aren't playing any sac outlets, then obviously it won't be nearly as good. You have to weigh how useful his effect is likely to be against how likely you are to be able to trigger it, and decide if it's a card your deck can support.
Yeah there's probably not enough upside (powerful high-costing enchantments) in my Lifegain Oloro deck as is to run her at the moment; not a big fan of Omniscience and other durdle cards. I do run Debtor's Knell but I'm not sure that's enough to run justify running her
I'll get around to making an enchantress deck some day though

How is Omniscience a durdle card? Here's how Academy Rector works 99% of the time for me:
The game rarely lasts more than 1 more turn after Omniscience resolves, and unless someone has a Krosan Grip I'll probably keep it.

You said that Omniscience is a durdle card and I think all he's saying is that it's quite the opposite.
Any Esper deck can benefit from having Rector in it. If you don't have any good enchantments worth fetching than it's likely your deck isn't very strong. If that's the case - and you are totally cool with that - you don't need to worry about it and should sell your Rector.
The deck is strong enough to compete in my meta and that's all that matters.
It focuses much more on lifegain than enchantments so no, I will not sell the Rector and just use it in a future deck that will focus on enchantments. Journey seems like it will give Enchantress some new tools so it should fit in it.
As far as durdle goes, I like to use it as a cute way of saying "lame". I consider Omniscience very, very lame but yes, it is very powerful
Well, "Durdle" has a meaning that isn't synonymous with "lame" so pardon our misunderstanding.
This set won't give you a reason to run Rector in all likelihood, but there are a good 30 game altering enchantments you can play in Esper already so you sort of just pick what you want them to do.
The card is so powerful and a pain in the ass. My buddy run it and fetched Omniscience almost immediately afterwards. The proceeds to control the game. Thanks to academy rector i have scene Omniscience come out turn 3.

I have a small list of cards that should REALLY be looked at by the rules cmitee. Academy rector is one of those cards.
* In Derevi he's awesome in Birthing Pod chains, getting me either lockdown in Rising Waters, untap in Nature's Will or draw in Bident of Thassa/Coastal Piracy AND a 5cmc creature on top of that. The most common sequence is saccing Derevi to get Rector, flashing in Derevi to untap Pod and then saccing Rector to get Rising Waters + Prophet of Kruphix or Seedborn Muse, but I've used him to get many different cards, depending of what's happening on the board.
How does everyone feel about this card?

I must have missed that last night; on that topic: any other good "sac a creature as a cost" outlet?
depends on colors. I sometimes use Fleshbag Marauder or edict myself ( I play esper ).

* In Ghave he fetches me either a missing combo piece (Earthcraft, Doubling Season, Cathars' Crusade or Mana Reflection) or an answer to the problematic boardstate (Grave Pact, Aura Shards, Necrogenesis, Mind Slash). Sacrificing him is trivial, because in addition to things like Ashnod's Altar or Phyrexian Tower I have a sac outlet built into my general.
