I was thinking about adding a Soul Warden effect to my Jor Kadeen stax deck to offset life loss from a few of my cards, then remembered this one. anyone play with it? Is it worth a spot in a fairly tight list?
Can't speak to the Pries, but I threw Auriok Champion into my Tajic deck on a whim, and it was surprisingly solid, especially if you run swords. Those protections are more relevant than you expect.

I play it in my Darien, King of Kjeldor build, because I need all of the Soul Warden effects I can get. It is actually a solid play in some multiplayer games, like when I had it equipped with a Darksteel Plate and I had two opponents playing Ulasht, The Hate Seed and Krenko, Mob Boss. Also, it's a may effect, so it has added diplomacy value. I suppose looking at the spot in your curve where you want that effect is the first step. I would say the added value of life loss for your opponents is worth the 1.
I run Suture Priest alongside any of the other mono-:symw: clerics that have similar effects; I find that if the deck calls for that effect, it's best to have it in multiples.
The bonus to Suture Priest, for me, however, has been Alliance of Arms insta-wins. People will even pay into it!
She's pretty good, especially in decks that let you utilize the life gain. Just like Blood Artist, the slow nibbling away at opponents' life totals as they bring creatures into play can add up pretty quickly. This is especially the case, as already noted, against token decks.
Overall, she's a pretty solid 2-drop for this format.
I'm debating whether to include a suture priest to replace a bloodchief ascension. Which would run better in a Vish Kal bleeder deck with a token and pillowfort subtheme?
Value seems to multiply by a million with winding canyons out. And unlike most other Winding Canyons combos, this one is cheap enough to reasonably keep open (five total mana).
If he's just sitting there, he's acting as more of a deterrent than anything else. Flashing him out in response to an avenger of zendikar or similar effect though sounds really fun.

I'd suggest running both. Then whenever your opponent tries to abuse Doubling Season (or otherwise bring out two tokens at once),
That said, if you have to choose only one, Bloodchief has good synergy with Norn's Annex, but I can't help but think Suture Priest has the advantage of 1) punishing aggressive play (rather than punishing attacking people other than you), and 2) going to work right away, while Bloodchief demands an answer (even if it's killing you) immediately.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

amazingly epic sig courtesy of DarkNightCavalier at Heroes of the Planes.
I use it in my Vish Kal bleeder deck, it's a cute combination of life gain and life loss
