I think there's a T&N combo with this guy but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.
Realm Razer and anything that removes a creature when it EtBs? You could Restoration Angel/Fiend Hunter/Stonecloaker/Flametongue Kavu the Razer before its trigger resolves, exiling all the lands forever.
You might also be thinking of Keldon Firebombers and It That Betrays, which is more "brutal and game-ending" than "a solution to ramp".
I'm fine with ruination (just because you can run all duals doesn't always mean you should.) and armaggeddon. Land destruction is fair imo, with two exceptions: an early quicksilver fountain, or desolation angel after a board clear. I simply hate desolation angel.
But yeah, land destruction works. People also forget tunnel ignus is a thing.
Natural Balance is another card that people mention in these kinds of threads that I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Also, I tend to pack reiterate in decks that face off against lots of ramp. Not just so I can copy all those big expensive spells like praetor's counsel, but because when the inevitable genesis wave for 20 lands, I can then copy it and damn near win instantly
Lately I've been trying to punish ramp with damage inducers like Tunnel Ignus, and Invader Parasite in addition to my normal suite of punisher cards. It doesn't exactly discourage ramp, but it does make that player more low hanging fruit.
You're not supposed to combat ramp. You're not supposed to punish people in EDH. EDH is all about fun, so just ramp faster than the ramp player and swing big creatures at them before he can. Stop thinking about ways to combat a strategy that is EDH and just focus on plowing stuff through the red zone. That being said I am currently making a ramp/ponza style deck with Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. He's not played enough and honestly, I would say he's the most powerful general released in the last year. With ruric, you ramp him out fast or LD their mana base back into the stone age until you can get ruric out. Once he's out.... ramping will literally kill them until they deal with it. The best way to deal with ramp, other than obvious hate, is to force the player to save themselves from dieing. If they wrath the board one turn instead of ramping, you set them back a turn and allowed the rest of the table to do something productive.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.

I'm glad we can come to the conclusion that EDH is about a single definition of fun. Now we can start complaining about how much ramp is too much now that we've decided to not play reactionary things.

In case you didn't get Jivan sarcasm, people don't play the game the same way. I hate mindless ramping and using Fun of EDH as an excuse to promote bad play and bad resources management.
Why does it have to be the guy that ramp the most that win. I prefer game when people respond to your stuff and try to play around you. Not just drop the fattiest green fatty.
EDIT: I don't get you, was this supposed to be irony or sarcast... From an other thread:
I still do not understand the holy EDH mantra of "do not touch lands." It's border line stupid that people complain about ramp, but hate the answer to ramp. That being said, unban Balance.
It just doesn't make sense with you previous post.
Galspanic tricked me into coming to his place by PMing me nudes, I rushed over and they were all just playing magic. I said what the hell, took off my leather mask, shuffled up, and played a few games.

Just sarcasm. I love MLD and and believe fun is subjective....

moxnix, I typically love your feedback, but uh. wat.
Guess its not ovious. Win before Thier ramp has had time to benefit them. Rampant growth cost 2 and gets you 1 mana a turn. Dark ritual cost 1 and grant me 3 mana on my same turn making it much faster allowing me Ro cast a doomsday and win before Thier ramp helps them making it nothing more than a weakness unless it cost 0-1. As a combo player the answer to
Most any prOblem I face is "go faster". While ritual decks have weaknesses of Thier own ritual decks tend to beat ramp decks.
Well yea, combo is the obvious predator to ramp except combo is about as socially acceptable as smoking in a preschool. I may be tying my hands together with restrictions but I would like to be able to combat ramp with out becoming the bad guy/archenemy.
I have a feeling it's going to be non-basic hosing since that seems to go over better. The one guy who used to cry about it no longer plays and the others "get it".

"I think EDH would be more fun for the majority of participants if players just showed eachother their decks rather than actually playing games out."

I draft and play EDH. If a Standard player can't understand who a card is for, it's probably for me.
I also write things about good films.
But yeah, land destruction works. People also forget tunnel ignus is a thing.
On Modern Masters 2:
Will be kept until 12/31/2013 to prove if Right or Wrong.Proven right 1/27/2013Also, I tend to pack reiterate in decks that face off against lots of ramp. Although mean, I think LD is still the best way to fight ramp and even control.
LR is banned (and for good reason)
Just realized the decklist I saw Limited Resources in was a french ban list deck, my mistake.

So, to summarize: Don't play punisher cards, but, play punisher cards.
Got it.
