Gah, started to play Edge of the Empire yesterday (Star Wars DnD) with a bunch of friends, and a friend of a friend is about as TFG as you can get; picking a fight with every other character, racist slurs (Though he's using them as a Transdosian toward a Wookie, so I don't know if it's in character or not), making rape jokes toward the two guys playing female characters, telling the GM what happens ("While I am searching the debris, I find a +1 Sword equivalent!")...
It's like DUDE, SHUT THE **** UP!
I absolutely wish I had taken up the DM duties, if only to kick this guy out. As it is the DM is doing good, it's the problem player that's the issue....

Wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been such a blindside; I got told Sunday at 3 PM that we were starting at 6 PM, and suddenly the game devolved into THAT.....

That's a pretty *****ty situation. I've walked away from games for less. Hopefully you told your friend that this ruined the session for you and this other guy needs to shape up or ship out.

So I got bored I made some cards for a friend who wanted to Make a Cephalid deck and make them a bit more black as that seems to fit their color scheme better as I made these to commanders:
Thoughts as the custom cards thread doesn't give me a good commander approach.
Edit: I know the phrasing isn't 100% correct and all that but they are currently works in progress
I think your use of hybrid mana is ambitious in both cases. Arguably mono-blue dredge might be off, but I guess just because it was golgari to start with doesn't necessarily make it wrong, especially since self mill in blue is fine. The hybrid cost for Oricu is just wrong, I feel. That's not just mono-blue reanimator, that's really efficient mono-blue reanimator. 6 mana over two turns to throw Grozoth into play is intimidating with the possibility of getting color screwed. With such an easy cost to pay, you have the ability to just go off with Lightning Greaves since it triggers off of abilities that target, which is sort of rediculous. That cost should be more prohibitive. Aboshan seems pretty neat though.
(Seriously though, Grozoth would go nuts with Oricu. Absolutely nuts.)

Zedruu: "This deck is not only able to go crazy - it also needs to do so."
I agree, I would make the reanimate ability cost black black or at least black blue and only trigger on spells. Abilities are just too easy to repeatedly get.
Fair I didn't even think of Grozoth... I'll re-adjust that.
The reason I made theses is that my playgroup in Minneapolis is having a tribal war game this week where each player has another player make a commander in a tribe for them that doesn't exist along with 5 creatures and 3 spells. Im really excited for it and a freind wanted a cephalid deck. But thanks for the feedback. I think I'm giving him Aboshan as the commander for the deck as I feel it will be fun.
I also had Mirrorworks in the deck, and I still rember killing a super pillowfort person I couldn't attack by hitting him with 23 Sword of Fire and Ice triggers. In one attack.
Had a creature, with Fireshrieker on (I think it was a stoneforge). Had a Sword of fire or two, and a whole bunch of Sword of Feast and Famine (4) on it. On the first trigger of Sword of Feast and Famine, I sacced a Phyrexian Metamorph to a Trading post for a card, responded to the draw with Academy Ruins, activated Winding Canyons, played Metamorph mid combat, copied the Mirrorworks again (I already had 3), went up to 7 mirrorworks (but -1 because sac metamorph). Float extra mana (a lot of it, I had most of my lands out). Second trigger, do it again, go up to 13 mirror works (but -1 because sac metamorph). Float extra mana. Third trigger, Again. 25 Mirrorworks. Final trigger copy sword of Fire and Ice + 20 or so mirrorwork copies (not quite enough mana for all of them), attach them all instant speed for free thanks to Leonin Shikari + Puresteel Paladin. (cast the Puresteel AFTER all the SOFI copies, thanks to canyons. I was already going to draw +20 cards off the SOFI triggers, and didn't need paladin triggers on top of that).
The stunned look of surprise made it hilariously worth it.

In other news, I forgot to mention that I finished reading Wheel of Time book 1. It was better than I remembered/expected, but at the same time I wasn't horrendously impressed with it. The first half seemed like a rehash of LotR + Dragonlance, with the party/festival interrupted, sudden journey, etc, down to even the character stereotyping (though of course, that may just be an extension of the DND party system in traditional fantasy).
There were some parts I really liked, such as the descending madness of one of the characters, and the hints of Rand's powers and use of them long before it started get heavily hinted, which was long before it finally gets 'told'.
There were parts I found weak. The ending, mostly.
Go through the whole book, developing all these characters, and at the end EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is useless, and gets brushed aside like an ant. What's the point of the whole character development?
Then, Rand goes all super-sayin and kills all the badguys. All of them. The army, the guy who beat up his friends, and the big-bad. All defeated in one shot. How. boring.
Overall, it took me longer to read than normal, because I was reading it in small chunks, since I never really got 'drawn' into it or captivated. But it was good, and I'd continue the story, eventually.
Then I went ahead and read Mistborn book 1. That one went a lot faster reading for me, because I got quickly drawn into that one. It was good. Ending seemed a bit weak to me again, but a lot less of it (pretty much one scene), with the rest of the ending seriously making up for it.
mainly, one character coming back from the dead, and the manner in which the big-bad fell, and how his weakness was discovered, and how the whole eleventh-metal thing had nothing to do with it.
That said, the one character that actually died. +props to Brandon Sanderson for doing that. Solid character building, and I like how it tied into conversations earlier in the book.
Super well written. I hear the next 2 books are lesser than it, so I'm bracing myself for that, but I think I'll complete the Mistborn series before continuing with WoT.

Also kinda reading some of those old Magic Anthologies books. Holy crud. Some of those short stories are terrible. Most of the rest just seem like Generic Short Story A that some writer wanted to write, and then stapled in MTG names in order to get it published.
The only Magic book I ever read was Arena, and even at the time I remember it being super cheesy. I'd kind of like to find a copy and reread it now, but I have a feeling it would have only gotten worse with age.

bobthefunny,
What is the casting cost of the new R/G werewolf commander, and when is Recurring Nightmare coming off the banlist?
Somewhere between 1 and 7, and Sheldon is still waiting for the right bribe to change his vote.
