So I'm looking at a few cards I want to try out in a deck and struggling for what to remove (the particular deck is moot) but it got me thinking. Has anyone built a deck with a a couple of slots intentionally as placeholders where you can freely swap cards for testing purposes?
In the early days, when I had just the Phelddagrif deck, I'd carry around about 10 cards to occasionally swap in and out. Later, I built a whole modular deck once that could swap in a full color, but eventually found it to be pretty clunky.

I'm at the point now with my Mathas deck that for any card I want to add I would need to remove one of my redundant cards that do what the deck is supposed to do. Although, if I'm going to be completely honest with myself, I need to play the deck more and see if the cards that are currently in it perform up to my standards before 8 start trying to further tune it.
a) Unless you're swapping a considerable amount of cards in and out, the actual change is minimal (exception: tutoring commanders).
b) Unless you are well organized, have everything sleeved up already and your swap list in hand (smartphone et al) this can lead to waiting time for everyone else who'd want to start a new round.
c) I hate having rough drafts of my deck. If i add new cards i'll keep the cuts in my token box in case a card doesn't perform/read like i hoped it would, so i can reverse it. After 2-3 round in which i've drawn the new card(s) and haven't missed the cut(s) over it, i'll shelf them.

Yesterday i gave the first laudation of my life. Praising my successor wasn't as akward as it was being the one who got the plaudits a year ago, yet i haven't felt as self-concious, as in those few minutes, in ages. Luckily everything went great and he thanked my for it shortly after in private.
Anyone know of a simple way to search specifically for full art cards? I don't really want to search through 2,500 promo cards.
Well...... possibly by searching for special rarities or specific cycles of cards. I looked up rarity special ordering by price high to low on card kingdom for example and it populated with a ton of box topers, masterpieces, judge cards for example and that would be the source of a lot of those. That will not be a complete search of full art cards though being that a lot of basic lands are full art but shy of those there are very few full art cards in standard set releases (exceptions being like.... Blade of the Sixth Pride?)
Scryfall has "Full Art" as a search criteria. So there you go: click.
Good to know, thank you.
Just finished an epic game. I was playing Mathas against two Ur-Dragon decks and the Jund M19 dragon. My deck wasn't working as perfectly as it wants to, but it was successful not being the threat and smacking away some attacks to keep me in the game. I killed one Ur-Dragon with a Boros Charm, then when the other Ur-Dragon swung at Jund I made 8t lethal with Tainted Strike, and snuck exact damage in thanks to Duelist's Heritage. The last two were very lucky topdecks and I absolutely should not have won that game, but it felt good seeing the deck finally win a game.
I think I may get out of the game and sell off my cards, I'll keep a deck or two just in case but currently it's been months since I last played
You could buy more tanks. But don't do it. I went almost a year without playing because of my daughter.
Hey Sheldon, I couldn't find your Karador deck list, but have you experimented with Enduring Renewal? My deck is too competitive I think to really maximize that card, but it looks like it would be neat.

I haven't. It seems like that's going all in on the graveyard, and I'm only mostly in. I want the deck to function without the commander also.

That makes sense. I didn't really give the Commander bit too much thought because I run so much redundancy that more often than not I never cast Karador in a game. I also figure that if I absolutely have to I can just sac it or blow it up.

If you're truly done with the game, good luck selling. If you're not sure, it's probably worth holding onto them. There are more or less endless stories of people coming back to the game after a couple years and regretting selling their old cards.Either this game has ruined my sense of reasonable hobby spending or I'm going even more coffee snob, which would be saying something (it might be both). Just picked up packets of a mineral water additive so I can try that instead of the water in my office break room.

If I do sell, I'll keep my fetchs and a few other cards like the swords I do have.
Yea the problem with selling is that it makes it much harder to come back later. I have sold my standard collection a few times now most of which was because of moving but since picking up commander I really haven't been interested in moving my collection as a whole. The collection I have right now would be almost impossible for me to reacquire given what has happened to the reserve list over the years.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I think the more important question you should ask is what is the situation that has caused you to stop playing. I cringe every time I see people sell off EDH decks because I know that most of mine would take at least double the cost to put them back together thanks to buyouts and the reserve list.
Hey guys - I was thinking about starting a thread that was basically a record of my edh games. I am just starting it and played at a store for the first time on Sunday. I thought it would be cool and allow me to track changes, match ups, etc. I can't figure out what forum is appropriate. It would cover casual and multiplayer edh, possibly competitive in time. I'd post and track my decklist, so I couldn't have it on the main page. Any thoughts on where it best fits?

Thanks, I'd like it to be public so people could give feedback to the evolving list. I think I will put it in multiplayer, since that would be 75% of what it will do.
You could always just have a deck thread here and keep track of the things you want to keep track of separately for each deck. That is what I do anyway.

You're going to make yourself crazy, since I have no real plan for them. It's really whatever occurs to me in the moment.
Years of reading the ban list thread will do that to a person.

Entirely unsurprising. Modding that forum should come with a pre-booked room at your local mental health retreat.
