I turned off all the lights in the house and hid from children for an hour before going to help at an event my wife was putting on. When I got home around 6:00 I saw what looked to be some 20 children in our cul-de-sac (I had to freaking google how to spell that lol).

Spent the evening doing trivia and drinking beer, so I have no idea how many kids came by. Someone had definitely gone through the box of candy we left out front. Either there were a few of them or we had some very polite raccoons.

I'm thinking of shrinking my cube to an 8 person cube. I almost never get 12 people, so the question is whether the larger card pool is more of a risk to making it imbalanced than the benefit it gives to not seeing the same cards all the time.

I have a cube for 8 people max, and the a diverse commander choice really helps with seeing the same cards. It's fun seeing the same cards being used in different ways for different deck strategies.
Are you gonna post your cube changes? I'd love to see where you end up.

Eh, I haven't really been keeping a change log. I guess loosely since cube tutor does it automatically, but that list is out of date. My list here is accurate thkugh.
An interesting thing happened to me while I was playing Commander last night. I was playing Mr. Bones, and at some point in the game I ran out Dismiss into Dream even though I didn't really have any way to capitalize off of it because, well, why the hell not, right? It isn't like there's any downside. Sure enough, on the next turn the Yennett player cast a Vish Kal, and now things take a turn for the worse. Because Vish Kal can kill off my other opponents' creatures whenever he wants (and these opponents already had a somewhat substantial board state), they suddenly became incentivized to throw all of their creatures my way since I was the player controlling Dismiss into Dream. In the end, I unwittingly committed suicide since the Yennett player was able to leverage my own card against me.

Had a scare last night when we drafted my cube. Counted everything this morning and I was two cards short. Naturally I suspected bobthefunny because he is sketchy as ****. But it turns out I just was running 198 colorless cards, not 200.
Yea, the more I think about it if I ever did a cube again I would probably just proxy the whole thing. Its just not worth the constant panic that someone is jacking your ***** especially given most people who can afford to make a cube tend to put some nice things in it that might be tempting to jack.

I only draft with a tight group of friends, so I'm not worried about them. But I definitely am paranoid if someone I don't know well is drafting. I've thought about going the proxy route eventually. Not even necessarily from a trust aspect, but to protect the expensive cards.
Edit: What are some basic cards that every draft deck would want? Right now I have it so each person starts with a Command Tower and a Sol Ring. Thinking about Terramorphic Expanse and Ash Barrens, maybe Commander's Sphere.

Oh no, you're not going to fool me. I voted two years ago and look at the mess we got in.
Well, I am back into playing modern again. At first I wasn't sure what I was going to play then I started playing allies for kicks against a friend as sort of a budget deck to try not to kill a new player too hard. Now I am going in deep on allies and have fully foiled the deck lol.
I paid a streamer to play my list the other day even. The one thing I will say though is its kind of nice as I feel like I am a little more free to adjust the list myself. When you netdeck a deck that works I feel like I don't know how to adjust it as well usually going along the lines of "well the people who know more than me made it that way." Its been kind of refreshing playing something of my own making in Modern which is often why I haven't gotten into it.

And I'm proud of you for joining the modern Cult. I keep debating on picking up your list to jam a few games.

The upside if you ever do try it out is that most of the non modern staple cards are very cheap. If you look outside of the landbase the list probably only costs something like $100 and a lot of that is Collected Company and Champion of the Parish (cards that do see modern play).

Funny. I've recently started playing Modern myself.
Tooth and Nail is pretty notorious in Commander for being able to immediately win the game on the spot. That made me wonder. Why is nobody in Modern playing Tooth and Nail? A sorcery that reads "You win the game." seems pretty good to me, even if it does cost nine mana.
I found a list online from a guy who seems to have put a reasonable amount of effort into it, so I used that as my starting point, and the results so far have been spectacular for me. Sometimes I win on turn three!

People do play it. It is often found in green Devotion shells. I have played it in the past. We have a decent thread that can be found here
The other problem is that its a lot of work to jump through hoops to try to play and win by turn 3 with it where as something like Tron assembles by turn three a lot more reliably. There really are a ton of sweet decks out there that mostly don't get played much because there are more consistent decks that regularly post tournament results.
Just because a deck isn't one of the 10 you see all the time doesn't mean its not a cool or sweet deck. Those decks can win plenty too so as long as you don't mind that your win percentage might not be quite what those other decks are I don't think there is anything wrong with playing something else. Especially if you get more enjoyment from those other decks.
There is also something to be said when nobody else really knows what is in your list or how to sideboard against it.
