When I play D&D I min max character creation and make the combat fanatic that tries to break whatever concept is being laid before me. I remember one time when I was told that we were going to be strained on how many combats we would get per long rest which was going to tax our spellcasters and ability to heal. So I rolled up with a shapeshifting druid with one level as a healing cleric who would at the end of every day convert all spells into being goodberries. We had this joke that we were literally consuming 10-50 goodberries per day per person and they are supposed to sustain you for like a whole day so we kept joking that we were all fat asses.
We would just pop those things anytime out of combat for healing it was kind of busted. Granted I think on average he would give us like 5-8 fights per long rest so I didn't feel so bad breaking his system. I guess the cube of force tactics were maybe a little broken...

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I tend to do that too, which is why I try and force stupid gimmicks to avoid it. It helps that the person running the game I'm in now is playing it pretty fast and loose. She'll shut down anything that we're doing with clear intent to cheese it and is more likely to go along with things that will be more entertaining. Those kinds of games are more fun long term to me. The optimization problem style games are still fun, just in different ways.
Dangerous parallels between EDH and cEDH there.

In fairness, all DnD and MTG shared in common was mostly on an aesthetic level... until EDH rolled along. Sure, it's not an exact replica (or the perfect crossover for that matter), but the freedom for imagination in deckbuilding in a popular format is probably the closest substitution we have, considering any other popular format has its scope considerably narrowed by both the format structure and internet information and any other format that allows similar freedom isn't popular enough for a person to reasonably walk into a LGS and be able to find a group.
Riku of Two Reflections - Copy, then copy again | Shattergang Brothers - Token Sac&Recur | Gahiji, Honored One - Multiple attack steps | Karametra, God of Harvests - Landfall, Creaturefall, Shroud | Ruhan of the Fomori - Stop hitting yourself | Zurgo Helmsmasher - Equipment&Wraths | Crosis, the Purger - Dragon Tribal Reanimator | Derevi, Empyrial Tactician - No stax, just tap and untap fun | Anafenza, the Foremost - Enduring Ideal Enchantress | Sharuum, the Hegemon - Sphinx Tribal Control | Noyan Dar - Spellslinger | The Mimeoplasm - Counterpalooza

Still convinced the guy on Beseech the Queen is wearing a Mitra-type hat. Wake up sheeple!
I've been bouncing the idea of an American medical system-inspired cleric. Heal the party but keep a detailed ledger of costs and payments, complete with interest. Possibly dabble in necromancy to ensure that everyone pays their medical debt in full. A friend of mine wants to run the Ravnica campaign when it comes out and that feels like a great opportunity for it thanks to the Orzhov.
Otherwise, it's probably third on the list of characters I want to play behind the Wizard of Oz halfling and redneck aasimar.
I want to run a half-orc board that's really good bard.... by orc standards. By basically anyone else's, not so much. I just can't think of a hook to make it fun for more than one session.
In 4th addition I did a hybrid Bard Warlord whose weapon/instrument was an axe/guitar. The party was a metal band. We had a straight up Bard, and a Bard/Fighter hybrid warforged that could only say its own name and used the clubs/sticks for his build in drumset as his weapons.
Yeah, the campaign was ******* dumb. But a half orc master of metal would be cool as a solo character. He wouldn't be a bad bard, just ahead of his time. Make all your spells aggro boosts and focus on Strength and Charisma.
Also, the same guy who made the drum robot made his 5th edition character in the current campaign the Travelocity gnome. He's a gnome barbarian on paper, but what he REALLY is is a travel and real estate agent. Through the magic of nat 20, he managed to convince an orc to stop fighting and buy a ghost town from him, sight unseen.
The Meaning of Life: "M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations"
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
OMG so we promised our daughter that we would get her guitar lessons if she would stick with a math tutor. So I'm on the website of a local music store checking out their teachers and one of the guys was the lead guitarist for Danzig. This so needs to happen.

Cryo you're not supposed to sit and stare at the guitar teacher throughout the entire lesson.
Donald, I took the plunge and jumped back into Puca with a few sends. I can't hold onto points, and my promos aren't even very high. Site is doing well it seemz.

I think the place has really taken a nosedive since it started allowing people to set their own promoted prices for cards. People are less likely to send out small things now, and the prices for bigger things have gotten ridiculous, even beyond the general inflation for older staples and reserve list stuff one sees in the general Magic economy. I'm still there, mostly because I still have a few hundred dollars of Puca points even though I receive a lot more than I send out these days, but if anyone ever bites for some of my bigger promoted trades and drops my points way down, I'll probably give up on the site.

My first DND character was an Orc Bard, I themed it as a Skald who used Orcish battle chants instead of..typical baric songs.
This time, the plan is to play Riku of Two Reflections for the colors and redundancy, and Thousand-Year Storm as the main business spell. I love casting Rude Awakening, so getting to get cast it with a storm count of 4+ and having mana doubling effects out seems like a no brainer. However, I feel the game is going to get to a point where the stack and triggers are going to be a nightmare to keep track of, and my head's probably going to explode. Want to nail down a list before I go about picking up any of the cards.
Xantcha just serves as an outlet. The combo is Worldgorger Dragon plus either Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead or Necromancy. Obviously you need a creature to schlep the enchantment onto, but with the infinite mana you can keep giving Xantcha to your opponents and kill them with the ability. I played Words of War and Obstinate Familiar to keep from decking myself.
Ugh.... I'm halfway through updating my cube from the last 5 sets and I just realized I still have a sealed case of C18 decks that I haven't even looked at.
Well, we had a paltry 6 kids show up at the house for Halloween this year, which surprisingly is a 100% increase over the 3 we had last year. Oh well, more peanut M&M's and Hershey's for me.

In other news, I tried Arena today for the first time. I am actually pleasantly surprised. Might do a draft there every once in a while.
