I will say that at least they have been improving. The tokens that came with the last run of decks was a huge improvement IMO since I'm the kind of player who would have sought them out had they not been included. Maybe this is too much to ask but why not eliminate the oversized foils and give us foils versions of the new legends in the deck instead (not 2 copies of each, just foil instead of regular).

Probably because a lot of us don't want any foil, gimmick or otherwise.
The foil oversized cards are stupid and one of the most expensive elements of printing the product - pretty sure the packaging costs more than the actual deck itself. Custom packaging costs a ton.
I use the oversized ones all the time if they're my commander. Love plopping one down onto the table. In fact, I don't think I have a normal copy of Riku, just the giant one.

Well that confirms they're not going anywhere. If you use them they must be the spirit uv EeDeeAych
I'm at a birthday party. There are 40 other people and I'm the only English speaker. Hence this post.
Yesterday, I went to a friend of mine's 21st birthday party and the birthday girl didn't show up. So it was ten people who had no idea who anyone was sitting at a table prepared for 36 people with everyone *****ing about "We're here, why isn't she".
Don't get me wrong she's awesome most of the time, but prior to the party she was complaining that everyone was going to flake out on her when she was the one who didn't show up..... Really can't blame anyone for not wanting to come next time.

So I am playing DnD 5e for the first time. I built a Life Cleric and it looks like I am also the tank. I've only played Pathfinder to this point... anything important I should know before I find out the hard way?

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

Good advice, I'll make a note of that.

No no, that room is a Lurker Above, Trapper, and StunJelly * No. of Walls. Far more dangerous.
That guy is no longer allowed to DM. It's rather memorable when you walk into a room and the floor, ceiling and walls start arguing over who gets to eat you.

I can imagine enough situations where I'd be happy to have it in Krenko for it to pique my interest, and I expect to get value out of it.
Usually it's enough to put you over from an okay play to a good play, putting you over the edge. For Krenko I find myself mostly using to to grab one or two extra mana I'm short on to start a combo or empty my hand.
The foil oversized cards are stupid and one of the most expensive elements of printing the product - pretty sure the packaging costs more than the actual deck itself. Custom packaging costs a ton.
Yeah, it really doesn't make sense. I don't think the oversized foils are a selling point for anybody, or they would be worth more than the base cards, not a fraction like they are now.
So I am playing DnD 5e for the first time. I built a Life Cleric and it looks like I am also the tank. I've only played Pathfinder to this point... anything important I should know before I find out the hard way?
I'm playing a Life Cleric in a real life game and a trickster cleric on a play-by-post thread on this forum (although neither are particularly active right now). A few bits of advice:
Make note of what can be cast as a ritual, what requires concentration and what can be cast as a bonus action. Casting as a ritual takes 10 times longer, but it's free and that usually only it just takes a minute instead of a few seconds, and they're all spells you wouldn't want to cast in combat anyway.
Healing word is the best spell you've got early on. It's a bonus action and only needs you to be able to speak, meaning you can be wailing on an enemy and healing an ally across the room. With the Life Domain bonus, it's especially useful early game. Combine with Spare the Dying to keep two party members alive in one turn.
Cure wounds is for more desperate situations or when your ally is nearby. Prayer of Healing is for after a big battle, it's by far your strongest healing spell but takes 10 minutes to cast. Don't waste any of your spell slots on non-healing spells, outside of the occasional attack.
Depending on how strict your DM is, take War Caster so that you can cast spells while holding your mace and shield. Make sure to max your Wisdom as much as possible, and if you can get the feat that gives you a cantrip and 1st-level spell from another class, and take a decent attack cantrip (There is a druid one about energizing a rock to throw that's in a supplement somewhere - it's by far the best for a Cleric)
Casting silence as a ritual is a great way to surprise-neuter enemy spellcasters.
Guidance is your party's best friend, make sure to take it as a cantrip. It adds +1d4 to almost every skill check your party will make, barring logistical problems.
Honestly, I prefer the trickster cleric because in trickier battles I can create a duplicate than essentially allows me to cast touch spells at range.
