This last week in the deck building adventures of cryo was
> decide to farm the "draw a ton of cards" and "control a ton of planeswalkers" points
> decide 5c would be hilariously bad to accomplish this
> build the deck
> even *****tier than expected
> scrap it for esper storm combo, trying for the same farming
> scrap that for mox's grixis storm deck, only *****tier because farming
> decide his deck would be better as 5c, build it
> get relentlessly mocked by moxnix
> go back to esper
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing

I can make lists too.
1. Rockstar Diet energy drinks taste like carbonated childrens' vitamins.
2. SCORPION is a really stupid TV show.
3. But not as bad as NCIS:LA chickachickachickachicka (the camera noise on that stupid show).
4. I just watched a terrible beer salesman dealing with a bar manager and I really wanted to jump in and do his job for him. I could have sealed that deal 20 minute before he did.
5. My wife complains about being sweaty and stinky but I can't smell her over my own BO.
6. Eating chicken fried steak and corn for lunch is a sure fire way to make you feel old.
7. I'm debating switching out Consume Spirit from my Pauper Songs of the Damned deck in order to play Haunting Misery instead. Not sure though.
8. People paying for tattoos with MTG cards seems bad and I think the shop thinks I'm a moron.
9. People paying to alters with PucaPoints feels less bad.
8. Are you? I mean, what kind of cards are you talking here?
So far I'm grabbing a Taiga, Plateau, Jace from Vryn, Polluted Delta. I need to go through the binders again to bring up the value though. It's a tattoo I'd normally charge $500 for.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.

I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
That sounds like a good thing for the both of you. You get solid cards to use or trade, they get a tattoo they wanted.
Generally trading for tattoos is bad, but in this case I really want to do the image for my own portfolio. But I also know that I can't give my services away. So, there's a good balance there. My goal is to get some high end value cards to flip so I can pay the shop but the also get some stuff for myself to either paint and flip or add to the Cube.

Yeah I'm not seeing the value, even if you're getting cards you'd probably not normally buy for yourself.
Pathfinder is D&D really, just a version by a different company that loooooooooooves the hell out of Wayne "Chest Thrust" Reynolds. I happen to think that Pathfinder is great. It was built off of the best D&D version (3.5) and developed in the interest of balancing some of the problematic aspects of that version (stacking crit range for instance). There are still plenty of broken things and chest thrusts to do and room for min maxing, but you can also play a single classed core character and be perfectly good.
Fixed
At my last session I was looking through the rule book and saw the illustrations and remembered that they were Wayne Reynolds. Then I remembered how much you hate his art because of the chest thrusts. I can't see his work anymore without seeing chest thrusting. I think you ruined me. But aside from chesty art his art is also very jagged. I feel like I could get stabbed from his characters arms or armor or chin.
Man this week and last have really been kicking my ass. Yay 60 hours of work both weeks on top of classes... thankfully my RA gig atleast has unblocked internet so I can kill my time on here with updating decklists ect. its been kinda relaxing to be editing deck lists but man I need a vacation soon.
I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but could someone explain to me why everyone wants Recurring Nightmare unbanned so badly? Every time I've played with it in cube, it's been an insanely powerful source of recursion that my opponent hasn't been able to deal with.
That's basically why. It's an awesome engine card and the prevailing thought is that the level of hate cards against it is much higher than when it was last legal. Cube is a different beast though. You don't have as many tools to fight it as you would in constructed EDH, but you also don't have as tuned a deck either. I doubt there is enough net benefit to freeing it, as much fun as I'd have using it.
Gotcha. Personally, the list looks fine to me. Or at least, as far as what I could feasibly see coming off the list. This format isn't like Legacy or Modern where you can just put something on the list (or take something off) to mix the "meta" up. They're awful ideas, but getting to play with Fastbond or Painter's Servant would be interesting for a bit. Primarily because I have a Damia, Sage of Stone Lands deck, and an Eight-and-a-Half-Tails deck that could use those cards respectively.
Off-Topic: Decided, after taking a little break, that I would get back into the swing of watching some more anime shows I've missed. Watched the first two Rebuild of Evangelion movies last week, as well as the film for Haruhi Suzumiya. Starte watching Guilty Crown this evening, and so far it seems... interesting.

Btw, has anybody ever tested EDH with no ban list at all? Is it as insane as I imagine it?
Depends on the group. If you're all like-minded then you'll probably have some pretty epic games for a while, but if one is spikier than the other I'd imagine it would be a snoozefest. But no, I haven't. Unless you count cube, but even that has a banned list due to it being a limited format.
Honestly have Salvation ever thought about making our own banned list much like the French 1v1 List?We are a large enough body I feel that we could start an alternative Banned list.

The cards will be worth something but the value to me is getting to put a portfolio piece on someone.

The thought of a freed Fastbond makes me shiver... Next to Griselbrand and Yawgmoth's Bargain it's probably the strongest card in EDH...
