I'm currently playing pacify the screaming baby. Been playing it for about seven months now
Keep up the good fight my man. It gets easier! I have a 19 month old. Not so much screaming anymore, but now she walks everywhere and tries to get into everything
Oh man, the first two on GBA were godly. I loved those two. I got pretty far in the gamecube one, but never got around to finishing it.
You should get a GBA emulator and find the sequel/prequel to the first USA version. It's a sequel chronologically, but I think it was made before the first US one (it features Roy from SSBM). I also love the Fire Emblem series, but I never got to play the Wii version.
It seems like it has been a while since a good Fire Emblem was released... I loved the one for game cube but the followup one on Wii was extremely dissapointing in my mind.
Really? I thought the Wii Fire Emblem was excellent. Far more challenging compared to the too-easy GC version. I really hope they make more FE games for the console, because I don't really like handhelds.
I'm not much of a gamer. I play the occasional video game when there is a series I like... console Fire Emblem, Super Smash Bros., oh and I had a bit of a WoW addiction at some point, but that's it.
The only game I really play a lot of outside of Magic is competitive Scrabble. But that's a different kind of nerd culture altogether.

The problem with the Wii one from what I remember is that you have half leveled characters that they give you and I just personally like starting from scratch and picking who I want to play. I really didn't care much for being handed tons of already lvled characters.

That's kind of true, yeah. But with the level cap in Wii being 60 (20/20/20), and with so many characters to work into the story, they couldn't start them all off at low levels.
But I remember at the very end of the Wii version, they give you all the Laguz kings who just completely obsolete the rest of your team that you worked so hard to build. That was kind of silly. I just resolve not to use the broken units they give you.

I loved Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. (I believe this the name, the cartridge just says Fire Emblem.) The one with Eliwood, Hector and Lyn, for those of you who have played them.
I did so many playthroughs leveling different characters each time. No matter how I played though, I always ended up with Hector at Level 20/20. Him and Canas were just too good. I always thought it was funny how Canas can kill the Dragon without any special weapon because of the Luna Tome.

Same here. Characters you personally level are much more effective.
Wow I wasn't expecting to run into this many fire emblem fans here. I have played the Wii Fire Emblem more times than I can count and because of the sheer volume of characters in the game and the way the chapters are divided particularly in act 3 you need to have some starting at higher levels. That said Ive never played the gamecube fire emblem having never had a game cube and having immense trouble tracking down an affordable gamecube controller, memory card and fire emblem game so I can shove it into my wii

Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled

Quite a few video game fans in general. Kind of surprising. I played the game boy Fire Emblems and enjoyed them, but never made it to any of the console ones and was too lazy to track down the earlier Japanese ones.
I'm a big fan of weird indie games, but that's because I'm a big fan of most weird indie things. Current favorites are Bastion, which should be entirely unsurprising to anyone who played it and also wants Logan Cunningham (Rucks) to narrate everything going on in their life, and Jamestown, which is a throwback to arcade top-down shooters. Fantastic concept, execution, and soundtrack.
Anyone who's a fan of older console games should track down ROM CHECK FAIL (I'll help: it's the fourth one down). Someone took a dozen old games, then mixed up the protagonist, settings, and enemies, and it changes every few seconds. It's bizarre, nearly impossible to keep track of, and hilarious.

If I remember right I never bothered using him. He was actually weaker than most of my team when I got him lol. I farm the **** out of my characters though so I had several maxed out characters at that point. Generally speaking whenever they give you an already upgraded unit in Fire Emblim they are weaker than a unit that you get to max lvl then upgrade. So on a normal basis I dont use characters they give me already upgraded.
I played the hell out of Soren who was the dark magic user. He had this special ability to attack the opponent first when being attacked. I had him maxed out so he literally one shotted opponents and got to attack them before they attacked when being attacked... Essentially I marched him up the middle and watched everything "Try" to attack him and they all died. He was really really good.

There was some sort of story that I watched... and omg it was baddddddddd.
If I remember right it was like some grade school kids were reading a book or some such nonsense in real life then got sucked in or something... They were all like "wow this is like a Final Fantasy Game" and I was like "OMG FAIL!!!!!!"
I just never recovered from that terrible plot... they totally didn't try at all. It was like they let the intern make the story...

Anybody a fan of FFTacticsAdvance? I've been playing a game of that off and on for a long time now... based on whenever I find my DS lying around.
I played FFTA a fair bit. The rules or w/e made me want to pimp smack the judges sometimes (ok, most of the time), but other than that it was pretty fun.

Yeah, thats the one, lol. I didn't really pay attention to that, other than I got a bit aggravated I couldn't skip the intro when I had to restart.

Yeah, that's really more annoying then anything, I found myself walking between towns to waste a few days and cycle the rules. It gets hilarious against certain clans though, I remember one fight where the set of rules made it so half of the enemies couldn't do anything.
Man, you guys are awesome. The only thing I didn't like about FFTA is that, in the endgame, you really just use the same 6-8 characters for a level over and over again, because really, why would you want to level the new guys you get?
When it comes to games, I tend to be pretty picky about them. Obviously I like fighters in general, but most of the games I also play are fairly specific and hold a dear place in my heart. They also tend to have very small, tight-knit communities, with the exception of maybe Counter-Strike 1.6 (screw Source, seriously) since that game is still played a crapton to this day.
One of my dream goals in life is to buy cabinets for both VS and MvC2.

I got bastion not too long ago and I couldnt agree with you more. Really fun game and oh wow that narrator has the sexiest voice ever. Im convinced that whenever he talks to a woman her clothes just disappear from the sheer sexiness of his voice. Im not attracted to men at all but that is an amazing voice. The soundtrack in that game is awesome as well one of the few games where Ive wanted to download the soundtrack.
As for weird indy games what do you think of Super Meat Boy?

I'm terrible at it but it's entertaining. I like that they included a bunch of random characters, and I think the thing where it shows all your failed attempts when you finish a level is pretty hilarious. I have so many games to play after the most recent Steam sales. I wasn't even caught up from the last round of them + humble bundles (which are amazing and everyone should be buying them when they're around).
