Man I do not like the list. Very few cards are true "hidden gems" in the sense of being generally powerful cards that are also relatively unknown. Most "hidden gems" are cards that are powerful in niche cases - i.e. saltskitter which is great in ephara, god of the polis but otherwise pretty useless. So listing them without any accompanying context is basically useless.
Anyway, one I noticed last night was minion of the wastes. Bad card overall, but it's pretty great with alesha, who smiles at death since it costs 2 and comes with functional haste. With a big fat tramply body, that's an easy way to knock someone out at low health and still have a huge dude on board to threaten the remaining players. Somehow it's in only one of every TWO HUNDRED alesha decks according to EDHrec. Now THAT's a hidden gem.

The thing is that the post was started in 2010, so they might have been hidden gems then The list hasn't been update in since 2016, so maybe it should be retired and maketh a new, circa "Hidden Gems" for today's Commander?

I don't think it's out of date, just that it's poorly organized. There are lots of niche cards that are useful only in very specific decks, and not listing any context makes the information pretty useless.
Also, and I realize it's hard to tell people "no, you're wrong, that card just sucks", but there are a lot of really bad cards in the list. Sorry, but amulet of unmaking is not a hidden gem by any standard.

But I mean the original poster hasn't been active since Jul 24, 2016, so this list will never get updated. Anyway, maybe a new section "Hidden Quartz" for borderline cards like Amulet of Unmaking..you know poor man's gems.

I don't see much point. scour from existence is $0.15. Amulet is twice as expensive and half as good. And scour is still a very mediocre card.
The other problem with the list is that it's so incredibly huge that anyone who's inexperienced will be unable to sort the chaff from the wheat and find the cards that might actually be worth using in their deck. And anyone who's experienced will have a better way to find stuff.
EDHrec has basically totally eclipsed adhoc lists like this. Its way more detailed, way more specific, and way easier to use. Some cards do still fall through the cracks - the rarity of alesha decks running minion of the wastes for example - but at least the possibilities are greatly pared down for someone who wants to really dredge through the lists to try to find something powerful but rarely played.
Also the poster has been active this month, it's just the list itself which hasn't been updated. For good reason, really. Technology has left it behind. Stuff like the top 50 list seems almost as archaic at this point, although at least that list is updated and curated so you're not sifting through endless garbage.
Look at the top 5 you don't like it pay 1 Weasley life to try again
When you find the magic 5 for the win that's when you stop you usually don't have to sacrifice that much life and you could gain that amount of life back eventually.
And as for price $1.5 for alliances $2.5 for commander 2013 (probably because the art is better on that one.)
put a bunch of +1/+1 counters or auras on a creature, e.g. Cathars' Crusade
Stifle the upkeep ability, if the creature doesn't matter that much
Or just remember this is EDH and there are plenty of recursion options out there.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Will someone please explain why this card is so terrible? f I am reading the card correctly, isn't this a Yawgmoth's Will except only to play other player's graveyards instead of yours? How is this bad? Is there some funky rules thing where it doesn't function as a Yawgmoth's Will for other player's graveyards? If it works the way I am wanting it to, I am going to play the crap out of this card.
You can play cards in other people's graveyards as though they were in your graveyard. You still need a way to play cards from your graveyard unless they have stuff with flashback and the like.
It specifically only works however with flashback on the individual cards and not Past In Flames
but Yawgmoth's Will
Karador
Hakkon
Crucible of Worlds all also work with it.
It is still extremely niche but it is fun killing someone with their own Dark Ritual and Tendrils of Agony after casting Trance and Will.
Minion of the wastes is actually very solid in any deck that wants to lose life. It's one of the best ways to drop down to 1 or 0 from 40 in one shot, and then functions as an epic sized beater with trample afterwards. Again, this is pretty niche, but being able to just drop your life total into it is a feature rather than a drawback in the right deck.

The Meaning of Life: "M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations"
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
hi need a high explanation to why in 5-color decks barely anybody is using Spirit of Resistance
Not quite, there's a difference between the colours of a card and its colour identity. For example, Child of Alara and Horde of Notions count as all five colours, because they have a mana symbol of every colour in their casting cost. General Tazri and Jodah, Archmage Eternal however, are white and white/blue/red respectively. However, their colour identity is WUBRG, because they have all five mana symbols in their text box, outside of reminder text.
I've never saw this card before, so I haven't test yet, but maybe Invincible Hymn could be a hidden gem?
Getting ~60 life with only one card is great, if you would not die next turn because some infinite damage combo, hahaha
I always thought Storage Matrix was a chaos/griefer card, but the more I think about it, it actually has good practical applications. The card hoses artifact ramp, mana dorks, and aggressive creatures, while minimally impacting land-ramp strategies or slower decks. I plan to use it to try to minimize scenarios where people just run away with the game before it gets off the ground.
well theres a artifact version called rebuild and heres the biggest kicker you can cycle it if you dont need it for what board states and if commander dont focus on using artifacts so much/ramp
Idk if it is a hidden gem, but Thran Temporal Gateway is absolutely nuts in my Breya Artifacts deck. Considering most of the cards are artifacts, and that there are a hefty number of legendaries, this thing can really put in some work.
I haven't seen it in a lot of lists really so I figured I would bring it up.
The Battlebond partners ala Krav, the Unredeemed shuffle library trigger is not limited to you the player, so if you already have the other partner in hand or play or are only running one of them you can and I have seen this use them to disrupt anything people are setting up with Top of the Deck stuff, just be sure they don't have the card they are being told to find in their deck or it is a free card for them.

Okay, that is a hilarious interaction. I missed that when the Battlebond rules were released.
“Partner with [name]” is a variant of the partner ability. “Partner with [name]” represents two abilities. One is a static ability that modifies the rules for deck construction. Rather than a single legendary creature card, you may designate two legendary creature cards as your commander if each has a “partner with [name]” ability with the other’s name. You can’t designate two legendary cards as your commander if one has a “partner with [name]” ability and the other isn’t the named card. The other ability represented by “partner with [name]” is a triggered ability that means “When this permanent enters the battlefield, target player may search their library for a card named [name], reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle their library.”

Aw, bummer. Though this does make more sense.
Basicly it’s Siren's Call on a stick
and look very very very...very carefully on the imps text
it doesn't say anything about it cannot destroy creatures that were just summoned.
so that means it can kill creatures with summoning sickness or should i say ones that just entered just keep commanders from coming out with this
