White Aegis of the Heavens - Would go right at home in a Doran, the Siege Tower "Toughness Matters" deck Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants - I think this is more interesting in Standard than it is for EDH, although I might look at it for my Ghave +1/+1 counter deck. Cleansing Nova - The flexibility isn't quite at the same level at Austere Command, but being a mana cheaper makes this very playable. Isolate - Die Sol Ring, Die!!!! Lena, Selfless Champion - So she will always at least bring along one friend, but the non-token clause really makes it doubtful that this will see much play. Leonin Warleader - Built in the same mold as Hero of Bladehold and Hanweir Garrison, I think there is potentially a spot for these kinds of cards if you value the token production. Resplendent Angel - Another good payoff for decks that gain life, this is right there with Crested Sunmare in terms of power. Suncleanser - My Leeches all just tanked in value.... Valiant Knight - There has to finally be enough pieces out there for a Knight Tribal deck.
Blue Mirror Image - My Clones all just tanked in value... One With the Machine - Obvious inclusion if you are running Memnarch, Sharuum the Hegemon, Breya, Etherium Sculptor, etc., but I think that a lot of blue decks that run a lot of artifacts like Gilded Lotus or Thran Dynamo might consider this an upgrade over a draw spell that they are already running (normal Sorcery speed versus Instant speed caveats aside). Patient Rebuilding - This is an interesting mill card, but I just wish that it hit all opponents for that cost. Psychic Corrosion - This is a fantastic milling card that I will be slamming into my Oona milling deck ASAP. Sai, Master Thopterist - I'm a fan of anything that gives you a meaningful payoff for no additional mana and for something that you would want to do anyway. Tezzeret, Artifice Master - This seems like the best Tezzeret version yet. It's also interesting to note that this is the first blue Planeswalker that can create tokens to protect itself as a plus ability. Totally Lost - Fblthp rules...
Green Colossal Majesty - Compares well to Elemental Bond, Kavu Lair, Triumph of Ferocity, and Temur Ascendancy Elvish Clancaller - Although the activated ability does nothing in a Highlander deck, Elves will appreciate having a 2-drop Lord. Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma - I remember back when "5+ Power Creatures Matter" decks featuring Mayael the Anima as the general were somewhat popular, but having some additional tools like Goreclaw might push those decks into the limelight. Hungering Hydra - Combo with Pestilence or Pyrohemia Runic Armasaur - This card is nuts if you have a fetchland heavy meta, but even given that its a 2/5 for 3 mana seems pretty good. Vivien Reid - I really like the +1 given that green decks are always looking for ways to draw cards, but the other abilities don't excite me.
I don't think it's particularly close. lighthouse hits shroud and (even more importantly) enables your other opponents to target them, whereas detection tower only lets you target them. Whereas detection tower lets you counter the tiny number of mostly terrible cards that give players hexproof.
Arcades, the Strategist : My new commander. I want to build a silly walls deck and never had a bant deck before.
I think everyone and their mom wants to build a wall deck. While I too am doing this, I am looking more into ways of giving Arcades defender. He has a higher toughness so that would be more damage. And I can also use Aegis of the Heavens to add another 7 damage. Slagwurm armor is another card you will want to look into.
What i really like about walls is their low cost fro such a high toughness and in this deck. you can be getting an 8/8 flying Shroud for 1WU in the form of Wall of Denial.

Arcades feels like Locust God, in the sense that I'm pretty sure its going to be optimized and the same deck is going to be everywhere within a week. Everyone wants to build it and everyone wants to build the same deck.
Same with atraxa. Every deck was either superfriends or infect.

Eh, there are enough defenders out there that a lot of decks will take on a life of their own. Obviously you’ll have “staples”, but there’s quite a few ways to build it. Aggro, control, combo. Quick review based on the full spoilers - admittedly I wasn't paying attention much (or almost at all during spoiler season), but MTG (and EDH by default) hasn't been the greatest of priorities recently.
Cleansing Nova - Austere Command this is not, but it does cost 1 cheaper and that is a reasonable concession. As someone who abides with a 1-of-across-all-decks rule (excluding colorless artifacts and lands), redundancy is extra important, so this and Command will probably be in different decks but swap from time to time based on each deck's requirements accordingly.
Remorseful Cleric - Might be the gravehate Alesha always wanted, especially when it comes with built-in evasion (cannot take your combat-subversion techniques for granted every game).
Death Baron - I have a Zombie tribal deck. I missed the boat the first time round. Waited for the boat to return. Now it has.
Graveyard Marshal - While this isn't a lord like Cemetery Reaper, it's also a 2-CMC drop, a slot I've been lacking in the creature department. Not the greatest of priorities though.
Liliana, Untouched by Death - Just when I thought Liliana, Death's Majesty couldn't have her position usurped in Zombie Tribal, this comes along (I have a one-of character policy for planeswalker cards across my decks, although I might revise that because Legendary-Planeswalker changes, plus I didn't count creature Teferi in the first place, so it wasn't exactly untouchable in spirit). To be honest, Death's Majesty has been lackluster (I briefly considered just running Vess instead, but eh I wanted themes), but this is an obvious slam considering Rooftop Storm is a thing in the deck.
Open the Graves - I have this feeling it's going to be underwhelming (it is slow), but I'm trying to see if I can amass as many 2/2 zombie tokens and well this is a way. Pretty sure it's just running on the "new card" effect and will eventually get cut, so I'm just going to give it a low priority rating at the moment.
Stitcher's Supplier - Zombie it may be, but I'm tempted to test this in Alesha instead, since it mills both on ETB and Death and Alesha does the reanimation part more than the Zombies (and let's face it, new Liliana is more combo-piece than reanimator, the normal-use is more for emergency usage).
Dark-Dweller Oracle - Sure, the mana cost is infinitely worse as a sac outlet, but at the same time, it's pseudo-draw for Alesha instead of scry 1, which is also arguably infinitely better. Probably needs testing to see if I do get better benefits from the draw overall.
Sarkhan, Fireblood - I'll take any filtering on a plus ability on a planeswalker in Mono-Red any day. Helps that Sarkhan is one the planeswalkers I haven't found a place for, so no one-of problems.
Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma - It can cost G in Animar, helps smooth out high-cost problems (sometimes the hand/draws just don't cooperate) and basically gives the Commander trample. Not the combo-piece Animar wants, but is this bear a lot of utility for the battlecruiser half I strive to maintain.
Reclamation Sage - Another foil boat I missed, time to compensate.
Regal Bloodlord - Possible candidate for Alesha, has evasion at the very least. Might need to revise lifegain strategies but might be worth it for the consistent supply of sacrifice fodder.
Desecrated Tomb - Well I suppose this is the less efficient Bloodlord in Alesha. Would be horribly effective in Zombies (because Withered Wretch is over there), but bat tokens spoil the aesthetic (if it was zombies the card would be a total homerun for the deck). Wretch does fit in Alesha, but with Remorseful Cleric as a thing now, I'd say Zombies need the gravehate on Wretch more than Alesha does, so this card might just get the short end instead.
Suspicious Bookcase - I might stupidly try this instead of Rogue's Passage in Alesha instead, since you know, defenders can actually enter the battlefield tapped and attacking...
Overall, I wouldn't say this set is that interesting to me personally, but I didn't have much expectations walking into a core set and honestly it did fare better than typical core sets of the past. Of course it had unreasonable competition before (Dominaria and Battlebond were extremely EDH-beneficial from design). B is a the obvious winner for me here and U literally offers me nothing (I noted Windreader Sphinx does trigger from any flier, not just my own, but eh that doesn't make a 7-drop more attractive, not even in Animar).
I unfortunately play all Wedge-Combinations for my tri-colored decks, so the Elder Dragons don't impress me and they don't fit in my 5C plans either. Not to say they're boring designs, but they're not particularly inspiring (Najeela, the Blade-Blossom was way more inspiring, but even she didn't convince me to replace my 5C deck and honestly these Elder Dragons aren't half as interesting as she was from my own perspective). I appreciate the effort of bringing all of them back considering they did inspire the format in the first place (shame 7 base attack/damage wasn't something R&D sought to preserve with all of them though).
Yea 25 bucks is well worth it. Wish i bought a box but there are not enough cards in M19 that i want (i mean i want a crucible, but not enough to warrant a box, and same with Arcades.)
I personally play many wheel effects, intentionally dump spells into GY so I could flash them back with Mizzix's Mastery and Jace, Telepath Unbound, etc. Nexus doesn't allow "flashback" under those circumstances, because it gets shuffled back into the library from anywhere, but Beacon could.

Ugh
Boycott thi buy a box exclusive crap please. It's not healthy for the game
I pulled 5 mythic, at least they upped the mythic count. I got a lot of crap though. I am guess the best card (Cost wise) is either Ajani or Scapeshift. (unless foil One with the Machine has value)
I dunno while i hate the BAB promo, they are cards I want. I wanted Sunsong, I wanted Nexus thing is, i could not go halfsies with my buddy this time as we both wanted Nexus. Even if I boycotted the BAB promo, it would not stop WotC from doing it in each set.

Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.

Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.

People will buy a box regardless of the Promo or not. A guy at my LGS bought a case. (I think that is six boxes) The promo will not change sales on boxes, all it does is boost sales fro people who want the promo. Since they cannot tell who buys for the promo and who buys for the box, they will continue the promo. What needs to happen is everyone needs to stop buying for them to realize, they made a mistake. With people buying boxes and cases, it wont stop.
I bought a box and only card I was rally happy to get with Lathiss, Literally every other card I got, I am willing to trade. I knew i was not going to like the cards in this set and I do not (Was debating cheating though, make a deck with my pulls and go to today's event. I might still go to today;s event but I am not cheating (I will however, bring my rares for trade. I want Arcades.)
White
Aegis of the Heavens - Would go right at home in a Doran, the Siege Tower "Toughness Matters" deck
Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants - I think this is more interesting in Standard than it is for EDH, although I might look at it for my Ghave +1/+1 counter deck.
Blue
Mirror Image - My Clones all just tanked in value...
Black
Blood Divination - Most decks don't care about the life loss in a 40-life format, but some decks like Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder have plenty of fodder to feed this and would prefer to save the life over Ancient Craving or Ambition's Cost.
Epicure of Blood - Another solid lifegain payoff and another card that goes infinite with Exquisite Blood
Fell Specter - Could have potential in Discard or Wheel themed decks
Fraying Omnipotence - Pox for people who have a hard time with math.
Infernal Reckoning - Should read "Exile target Hollow One, Inkmoth Nexus, or Lodestone Golem..."
Isareth, the Awakener - Is it me or does the addition of a Corpse Counter not have any effect?
Liliana, Untouched By Death - Great addition to a Zombie tribal deck
Liliana's Contract - Conspiracy FTW
Open the Graves - So we have this effect on other cards like Abzan Ascendency, Golgari Germination, Gutter Grime, Ogre Slumlord, Pawn of Ulamog, Requiem Angel, Sifter of Skulls, or Teysa, Orzhov Scion, but in order to get a 2/2 out of the deal you were either limited to creature types with Rotlung Reanimator or Xathrid Necromancer or you had to go to 7 mana with Overseer of the Damned.
Red
Alpine Moon - Gaea's Cradle and Cabal Coffers are getting a little nervous
Apex of Power - Team this up with Scroll Rack so that you know exactly what you are getting for maximum effect
Dark-Dweller Oracle - If you can generate some consistent fodder for this with something like Goblin Assault or Assemble the Legion, you can potentially generate a lot of CA with this.
Doublecast - So Fork is on the @!#$@! Reserved List, but even though this essentially does the same thing it is not a functional reprint. Well played.
Goblin Trashmaser - There are a lot of Lords in this set, but getting a new Goblin lord will make Wort, Boggart Auntie very happy.
Lathliss, Dragon Queen - Moar Dragons!!!
Sarkhan's Unsealing - Yeah, I'll be counting how many 4+ power creatures I have in each red deck I have.
Sarkhan, Fireblood and Spit Flame - Just pointing out that Spit Flame makes a fine card to pitch to the +1 ability on Sarkhan, Fireblood
Tectonic Rift - No, no no... we wanted a reprint of Tectonic Break, not Rift....
Green
Colossal Majesty - Compares well to Elemental Bond, Kavu Lair, Triumph of Ferocity, and Temur Ascendancy
Elvish Clancaller - Although the activated ability does nothing in a Highlander deck, Elves will appreciate having a 2-drop Lord.
Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma - I remember back when "5+ Power Creatures Matter" decks featuring Mayael the Anima as the general were somewhat popular, but having some additional tools like Goreclaw might push those decks into the limelight.
Hungering Hydra - Combo with Pestilence or Pyrohemia
Runic Armasaur - This card is nuts if you have a fetchland heavy meta, but even given that its a 2/5 for 3 mana seems pretty good.
Vivien Reid - I really like the +1 given that green decks are always looking for ways to draw cards, but the other abilities don't excite me.
Multi-Color
Arcades, the Strategist - My Rolling Stones all just tanked in value... I'm actually excited about the possibilities of Wall.dec making a comeback.
Nicol Bolas, the Ravager/Nicol-Bolas, the Arisen - The face-up version is solid and I like that you can control the flip, but the flip-side is only okay in my opinion. I will surely run this in my Nicol Bolas deck, but I don't know how often I'm actually going to want to flip it.
Poison-Tip Archer - Will become a staple in tons of decks like Ghave, Guru of Spores, Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, and other decks that thrive off of creature sacrifice.
Satyr Enchanter - Not exactly an Enchantress, but he is welcome to the party anyway.
Artifacts/Lands
Arcane Encyclopedia - My Jayemdae Tomes all just tanked in value...
Dragon's Hoard - I like this card for both Dragon Tribal and possibly for decks that just have a Dragon as a general such as Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
Meteor Golem - Another option at 7 mana (Scour From Existence, Spine of Ish Sah, Unstable Obelisk, etc.) for colorless removal that can take out problematic permanents that your deck's colors might otherwise not be able to handle.
Transmogrifying Wand - I would have liked it better if it turned the creatures into a 1/1 Frog, but this is till interesting enough to see play I think.
Detection Tower - I can't decide whether this is better or worse than Arcane Lighthouse
Jalira, Master Polymorphist | Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder | Bosh, Iron Golem | Ezuri, Renegade Leader
Brago, King Eternal | Oona, Queen of the Fae | Wort, Boggart Auntie | Wort, the Raidmother
Captain Sisay | Rhys, the Redeemed | Trostani, Selesnya's Voice | Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight | Obzedat, Ghost Council | Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind | Vorel of the Hull Clade
Uril, the Miststalker | Prossh, Skyraider of Kher | Nicol Bolas | Progenitus
Ghave, Guru of Spores | Zedruu the Greathearted | Damia, Sage of Stone | Riku of Two Reflections
Each of the past three sets have been very EDH friendly, and the REAL deal is not here yet...

And if everyone thinks like that, nothing ever changes.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
