Domestication at Rare? Spell Blast at uncommon? That's very disappointing, like yet another "Screw You" to U.
How the hell is that a "Screw You, U"? It only really affects Limited play, it will have next to no impact on Constructed (save for if the price of Domestication somehow jumps to $10).
LOVE Academy Raider for Lovisa. While the stats are weak, BOTH of those abilities are great (especially together) and not redundant for mono-red or Lovisa. BOOSH!
This! I came here to post the same thing, but I was beaten to the punch.

It's a waste of a Rare slot, where instead of something else interesting, or at least somewhat useful, there's Domestication. Just like how they keep printing counterspell hate and quite a lot of bad counters. It's part of a long, on-going trend where they are moving away from control.
Domestication is a rare purely due to limited. The original printing saw it at uncommon only because there were a lot of high power creatures available at all rarities in that limited environment (RoE).
But I doubt it'll see much play in any of the competetive formats as it really doesn't work too well for them (as they currently stand). Standard would need a lot more good creatures with power 3 or less to make it a worthwhile inclusion in a tournament winning deck, stuff that would be worthwhile to steal for 4 mana (instead of destroying it).
Yeah, it's a part of the same trend as putting decent removal at Uncommon, taking away a lot of options to take care of problematic creatures in Limited formats, the same mindset it seems like they've been applying to Standard by their card selection.
Artificer's Hex might be my favorite card in this set. I'm really going to enjoy slapping this thing onto the various pieces of hexproof/shroud equipment.

Not messing with, expanding. This is an excellent unused space for black. Contrary to what people think not every thing possible in magic is claimed by a color yet.
Kinda with Jivan on that (Oh God what did I just say?)
Certainly seems like black would go "Sure, I can't get rid of your equipment, but I can still curse the **** out of you for using it. Mwahaha # vindictive"

It does fit in well with Black. A (situational) kill spell that takes the spot where, in other colors, artifact removal would be. The flavor isn't bad either with cursed artifacts, better than Relic Putrescence.

In fact, this particular card harkens back to some very old black cards that punished artifact use, things like Curse Artifact, Artifact Possession and Warp Artifact. That's a pretty respectable lineage, representing The Dark, Antiquities and the original set, respectively. I rather like it.

Counterspells are now the best way to beat generals in EDH, and every blue guild but Dimir received a great option last block. From an EDH perspective I am fine with what they are printing.

You guys are making me like that card more and more, at first I thought of it as a bad kill spell, but rather its a unique artifact "removal"

Are people even going to play Ring of Three Wishes over Planar Portal? 1 More to cast/activate, sure, but it works till someone blows it up or you win.
Many people have already chimed in on this, but I would also like to point out most of the time, you're going to be casting Portal for 12 and Ring for 10, which is a pretty big difference when you want to cast whatever you searched for on the same turn.
Of Magic 2014, I'll definitely run Primeval Bounty. To have a constant incremental advantage over my opponents is great, especially in the slower multiplayer games that I prefer. Young Pyromancer is probably the most exciting card of the set, that could lead to some very impressive shenanigans. I'm thinking I'll use the tokens either as additional beat-down with global buffs, or as fodder for Ashnod's Altar. Ring of Three Wishes is great, and I love that it gives all colors the ability to tutor for their win-cons. Kalonian Hydra has some interesting possibilities, especially if you copy/clone it so they buff eachother. Master Biomancer could get along nicely with them.

I don't know. When I see Planar Portal played it's usually when I have arbitrarily large mana (Azusa) or with infinite mana (and untaps) to tutor your deck (think Rings and Voltaic Key in Karn). The limited charges on the ring kind of turn me off to it.
I don't quite understand this either. At least people will open less of these? Is that the benefit?
