8 for a 3/4...that costs 1 less for each creature in gy...and lets you do a tingly of graveyard shenanagins?
for 8CC?
Bad general.
Dredge.dec ... you can easly get your library into your graveyard, and this general makes it more worthwhile. G/W/B are the best graveyard access colours, and until now you had to play subpar generals for the colour (if your intent was accessing your own graveyard). I've been looking for this general for over a year now, and I'm ecstatic that he exists. I'm going to start building the deck tomorrow.
By the time you hit 5BB, you should have a decent 'yard, and have hit at least one tutor to fetch Shift. Cast Shift, get a huge 'yard, and spend the rest of the game casting whichever toolbox creature from your yard that you need each turn. Or combo off with your creature-based combo of choice. This commander should usually cast only BGW by the time you cast him.
This Commander that Wizards is introducing is awesome. Karador is decent, much better than Teneb I would say. Still, not much else to say about this guy that hasn't already been said.
I can't wait to see the RGU commander...
And the spoiled art for the (seemingly) BRW is AWESOME.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
@Mongol: he would cost 5. General tax is an additional cost.
Actually he would only cost three. While general cost IS an additional cost, additional costs and cost reducers are applied at the same time. It makes him quite the nifty general.

Ok because obviously if the counter mana can be reduced to zero as well then he goes from cool to awesome. Really can't wait to see the RUG generals or the RUB ones.
I'M SO EXCIIIIITEEDDDD!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG NEW GENERALS YES!~
okay, got that out of my system.
I'd play him over teneb if i was dedicated to graveyard shenanigans, specifically with my own. But i think i like teneb's ability to grab any creature- granted it's harder than just simply casting the creature.. But the more you put into the yard, the more you're showing your jugular vein (graveyard hate)
I think cards like Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar will shine in that deck, letting you cast some stuff again and again for less and less mana.
Also i don't think you can get around the 2 extra cost from putting it in the general zone, as that's an outside cost.
Just to clear up all the cost stuff once and for all: the formula for determining the total cost of a spell is as follows:
Mana cost or alternative cost + additional costs + cost increasers - cost reducers
So yes, Karador's ability will reduce his command zone cost.
I'm still not sure if he's better or worse than Teneb though. Teneb beats, reanimates fatties on the cheap and can get opponents' dudes. Karador is himself cheap, and his reanimation is less conditional. Tough one. For now, I think I prefer Teneb.
You can only cast the Thopter once per turn, as mentioned on Karador's card. This is exactly to prevent shenanigans such as Thopter/Memnite with this general.
I think this card might allow a more focused, consistent reanimation theme
How is that? Karador allows you to cast a creature card from your graveyard. That means you still have to pay the full casting cost. Reanimating is all about putting creatures on the battlefield for a reduced cost. Personally, I think I will keep teneb as my general. Reanimating with Teneb only costs 2B and I can grab a creature from ANY graveyard.
I would rather say that the builds that focus more on sacrifice effects can benefit more from Karador than Teneb. Being able to replay/sacc Eternal Witness each turn is just crazy.
Dragon card + Hive Mind style effects would be fun in larger multiplayer games, in 1v1 its a 5/5 for you...in 3-way its political, in 4 -way its discrimitory; in 5-way plus its just downright rude "Hey, jack, everyone but you gets a 5/5 dragon."
If anything, lets hope that Karador will inspire players to play more graveyard hate
Now, while players are rightfully comparing him to Teneb, I think that it is nice that the Doran colours have additional generals which increases the versatility of the colour combination. I think that Karador will be running along a slightly different list from Teneb so whether it is really stronger than Teneb will be left to be seen. That said, it would really be nice if the Centaur had a bigger head and a smaller bottom (i.e. if it was at least a 2/5 creature but hey, one can dream ;))
He's the non-combatant version of Teneb, certainly, and that comes with some benefits. You can't grab other people's stuff but you also don't have to connect with a player, and that's huge. It's unerringly consistent and it's awkward to play GY hate against it as, instead of targetting for reanimation like you do with Teneb, you're simply moving a card from your graveyard to the stack. This forces them to pop their hate cards 'prematurely' instead of fizzling the ability. It works with Ground Seal!
Also, I am quite content to sit on my resources and play Sakura-Tribe Elder every turn. In fact, that appeals to me very much.
Karador isn't Teneb, but then again, I suppose he isn't really supposed to work as a Teneb replacement. He'll probably demand more of a build around me style deck, as opposed to Teneb which can get away with playing other venues to victory.
The dragon spell seems interesting and fun, but I won't be playing it anytime soon.

3 mana for a 3/4 with a sweet ability, you mean.
Still very excited for the precons and other "Edh only" cards.

It definitely is reduced. My level 1 judge roommate confirmed it. Let's have no more discussion about this.
Look at how Cost Reducers and Buyback works and you'll have your answer. It does work.

Mostly, that it's disappointing that it's not in Phelddagrif's colors :(.
Other than that, it looks like some interesting diplomacy shenanigans.
It's not terribly bad 1v1, and it expands nicely into multiplayer, so it fits commander very well.
